Sucks you can’t afford it! Go to dollar tree, I’m sure there are plenty of off brand phones you can get for cheap.

Apple is never entry level. It’s a premium brand like Gucci, Canada Goose, or Mercedes.

If you can’t shell a measly $749 for quality, get a Honda Accord!
Apple like Gucci or Mercedes? Not even close. Those you listed have rigorous quality standards.

Honestly for apple it’s about which features they want to stagger release. Sure they could do that but it would take away from Mac sales so they don’t wanna do that yet. Also they have to invent a reason why you couldn’t do it on older models. They also have to lock it down so smart people couldn’t put macOS on older iPads once they introduce.

How about making the MBP touchscreen!! iPad would be marketed as super mobile therefore limiting with the mobile iOS. The MBP would be marketed as less mobile therefore more powerful with MacOS.

Nothing collapses faster than a fashion company that suddenly becomes uncool

Apple's earnings are based purely on people currently being willing to pay massive premiums for name recognition, not the quality of products
Agree completely.
Microsoft seems to have a much better long term cloud strategy that is making tons of money. Apple has the cash to do what they want. They just need to pick up the pace and start competing.

Bought an iPhone SE for $180 from an awesome member here on Macrumors...

Inexpensive Apple products are possible...

$749 "budget" Smartphone... $799 "entry-level" computer... $849 "basic" laptop (the older Air is still available I guess, for education)...

LOL...

I cant believe the old air costs $1000. I mean thats absolutely insane. I wouldnt pay 200 for that piece of junk.

The vast majority of stock market investors including the so-called analysts have no idea about computers. Some of them think Facebook is a technology company.

People are simply fed up with the lack of no-brainer products that Apple just can't seem to put on the table for some unfathomable reason, such as professional-grade Macs and USB-C iPhones.

But they’re so innovative... selling the same phone over and over. To the people who argue about how the new Xs and Xr series are so great, numbers don’t lie.

I dont think even the biggest fanboys are saying the XR is great. That thing is garbage.

Apple like Mercedes or Gucci? Everything from Apple is Honda... just stop lying to yourself.

Where were all you "good on Microsoft" folk when they shipped Windows 10 1809 and it deleted the My Documents folder? Where were you during the Azure MFA debacle of last week which left millions of O365 accounts unusable for the better part of a whole work day?

If Apple's OS and services would experience such an outage with such widespread ramifications, then all hell would break loose.

Microsoft being the top dog is a temporary fluke caused by the current market situation. They will not be up there for long.

Tim Cook is sounding more like Steve Ballmer each year. Apple has been putting to much priority into the iPhone and not it's other lines.

Why is it taking years for a new Mac Pro to come out. Right now the iMac Pro has better processors. I can get a PC with real Intel Xeon processors(up-gradable) along with the rest of the systems. I just checked Dell's website for their workstations. For the $5,000 Apples charges for the base iMac Pro (8core). I can get a 16 core Dell Precision 7920 Tower. Yes, that's without a monitor. But I can upgrade the crap out of it. It's able to go Dual processor, any graphic card, etc. This doesn't count building your own.

I mean look how long it took them to upgrade the Mac mini. Which was always nerfed before now.

Yes, PC/Desktop/laptop sales are not growing like the smart phone market. But the smart phone market is going flat and people will be using the phones longer before replacing. I really don't she anything ground breaking coming to smart phones anymore. Everything now will be just improvements on what's already there. Any energy improvements will be of set by small/thinner phone with less battery. But still same run time.

For all the work Apple has done to build their ecosystem and get people into it. By ignoring the rest of that ecosystem, you give people reason to move out. Look how they dropped the ball on the HomePod. It was late, it doesn't have a screen option. Now on top of Amazon's Echo Show, now with version 2, you have Google and even FaceBook getting into the picture.

Apple shouldn't be entry level. But their products aren't 200% better either.

Their greed will be the end of them. And I'm a big Apple guy. Heck, I bought the first gen Apple Watch, have an iPhone 8 Plus, own Macs and Apple TVs (multiple generations). Here's the thing...I'm not going to buy another Apple Watch, because if it only works with iPhone and the iPhone's going to cost $1500, forget it. They will not hold me hostage. I have Apple Music, but I could easily switch to Spotify like overnight. Apple TV is great, but Roku works great too. Windows 10 isn't great, but it isn't awful either. And I have money to spend on Apple Products, but they aren't worth the delta anymore. That's why Apple's stock is getting pounded now.

Expected. Reducing the excellence in the product line and reducing the satisfaction of long-time users has a consequence in lower profits eventually, no matter if you got large amounts of money from new users who were just attracted by the luxury of the Apple brand. Now, the same users who left Microsoft and switched to Apple, are doing the switch in the reverse, after one disappointment after another disappointment in recent years. It will get even worse if they don’t pull up.

True. Apple had never been the most valuable U.S company when Steve Jobs was alive.

Are you implying that it wouldn’t have been either if Steve had still been in control? If so, that seems like a pretty ridiculous argument to make. Cook had the advantage of taking the reigns when the smartphone adoption rate (and Apple’s profits) was accelerating very rapidly. The only reason Jobs wasn’t there when Apple became the most valuable company is because of his early death.

I can't afford to play in Apple's world anymore. Cost of living has gone up too much and my salary hasn't kept up so luxuries like Apple stuff are going the wayside. I hate to say it because I've always loved their stuff, but I think my next laptop will be a PC and my next phone will be a droid. It's been nice while it lasted.

This. I am replacing two computers and a phone with a non apple product due to price. Retired and just can not justify continuing with Apple due to high prices. I would feel like a sucker paying $1200 for a new Air, especially with the new keyboard and very poor downgraded camera. My plan to buy a priced reduced 2017 model seems to be impossible as the price has not been reduced.

Show me numbers that support AAPL is "collapsing" or "uncool."

I just showed you numbers with their best year ever at $60B in profit, over 2X that of MSFT.

Apple just posted revenue up 20% and EPS up 41% y/y.

They sold 218M "uncool" iPhones at an ASP of $761 versus 217M at only $650 the previous year. So MORE people bought iPhones and paid more for them.

Since that stellar quarter, we've gotten a bunch of speculative fake news designed to manipulate the stock and seen the overall FANG stocks go down 20% or more. MSFT was only down about 10%, so they have not been hit as much.

MSFT trades at 40 times earnings while AAPL trades at 13 times.
