Tim Cook is sounding more like Steve Ballmer each year. Apple has been putting to much priority into the iPhone and not it's other lines.
Why is it taking years for a new Mac Pro to come out. Right now the iMac Pro has better processors. I can get a PC with real Intel Xeon processors(up-gradable) along with the rest of the systems. I just checked Dell's website for their workstations. For the $5,000 Apples charges for the base iMac Pro (8core). I can get a 16 core Dell Precision 7920 Tower. Yes, that's without a monitor. But I can upgrade the crap out of it. It's able to go Dual processor, any graphic card, etc. This doesn't count building your own.
I mean look how long it took them to upgrade the Mac mini. Which was always nerfed before now.
Yes, PC/Desktop/laptop sales are not growing like the smart phone market. But the smart phone market is going flat and people will be using the phones longer before replacing. I really don't she anything ground breaking coming to smart phones anymore. Everything now will be just improvements on what's already there. Any energy improvements will be of set by small/thinner phone with less battery. But still same run time.
For all the work Apple has done to build their ecosystem and get people into it. By ignoring the rest of that ecosystem, you give people reason to move out. Look how they dropped the ball on the HomePod. It was late, it doesn't have a screen option. Now on top of Amazon's Echo Show, now with version 2, you have Google and even FaceBook getting into the picture.
