I wouldn't care if Microsoft made a cute commercial in the spirit of "Mac vs PC" ads only the other way around but these commercials are just petty and insult filled.

Remember how much of an iPhone killer Windows phones are? Yea..neither does anyone else.

Today I learned: Apple fans can dish it, but they can't take it.

And I suppose "Apple fans" dish it to Microsoft on a regular basis? I think you'll find that most fans actually applaud what Microsoft has achieved as a company. It's just a pity that Balmer has reduced MS to a disorganised and, quite frankly, unfocused corporation that has no leader.

The fact of the matter is that MS has tried to enter new markets and can't hack it. Why? Because they can't mould their brand around hardware. This obvious failing has led them to being almost jealous of the success that Apple and other manufacturers have had. This isn't to say that Gates would never have considered hardware a top focus for the company, but until around 2000, MS was making some of the best software available and the quality for education was second to none.

It says a lot though when you create your own tablet (delectably titled "Microsoft Surface") and then continue to license your own OS to OTHER manufacturers and compete with them in the same market? Errr...

Remember this... Champagne with be a very popular color if you want to believe it or not!! The phone case colors are options and I have shown my kids and their friends and they all think they are totally cool!! These will be huge for many but they were not intended to be for everyone!

well if your kids and their friends think they are "totally cool" then that's it I guess

That was shameful.

You know, Microsoft isn't having trouble getting a foothold in the mobile industry because its phones are that much worse than everyone else's, even though they usually are. No, they are struggling because they have burned every bridge they could and then some. There is no partner or client they have been unwilling to cut off at the knees on a whim, and now that everybody has a viable and often superior alternative (unlike the 90's), they have nothing to run on and nobody to go to. So they resort to bitter, vindictive ads like this. Positively disgusting. That war chest can't run out fast enough for my taste. Perhaps if they feel some actual financial crunch someday, they can change themselves for the better.

So??? M$ is so beaten by the iPhone they resort to bashing a product while mocking a dead person. BTW M$ you just made my next PC, Laptop, and phone decision for the next 50 years, Apple.

This. I was a "PC" up until Vista, then I gave up.

You all are way too soft if you think these ads are offensive. I found it pretty funny.

To be fair google don't actively target Apple like the others. Well apart from maps, but well apple deserved that... But hey googles new maps is horrible to use. How the feck do you zoom?!

Who do you think brought us Android?? Who else were they going after if not Apple?? And then buying Motorola... how is that not targeting Apple?

How can a big corporation such as Apple release the same phone 3 years in a row and raise the prices by 100$ every time? But if I read some of the comments here, I think I know why they keep getting away with it.

Same phone 3 years in a row?
What are you talking about?
The iPhone 4 and 4S were close but still pretty different. The 4S and 5 are night and day. And the 5 and 5 S appear to be night and day also.

1. You and three dozen others (when I clicked on "quote") of our forum members agree with the ad? Talk about iSheep.

2. What Apple has been doing the last 6 months: what they usually do. Working on designs we'll see down the road apiece. Talking about prototypes for things we'll see sooner than that. Reviewing and updating supply chain gig for what's shipping now, what will ship tomorrow, next week, next month. Patiently tracking and fixing bugs in software. Enhancing software for greater functionality and even more customer satisfaction. Providing customer service. Answering developers' questions. Tip of iceberg, off top of my head, fill in the blanks if you like and next time ask a question with no good answers when you're only aiming for rhetorical flourish anyway.

3. How is it unfortunate that any product rollout turns out to be popular among consumers when they have a choice? It's not a zero sum game, you know. People don't buy a smartphone like it's a capital improvement of their property, like a septic system or a new roof on the barn, stuff one might hope to purchase once and depart the marketplace! Because I like the 5C this time (and I have posted a lot about why, and with emphasis on THIS TIME) does not mean I have just decided to leave behind the high end of all Apple products forever and ever after today. You guys who like to carp and whine cannot have it both ways. You want choice. Apple just delivered it. Choose, and enjoy your choice. You don't want choice? Then settle for your usual groove, whatever it is. The freebie looking good for cost considering the tech state, the last-year-but-from-ebay middle of road, the high end current rollout with all available bells and whistles. Or, like a lot of us, the surprising extra choice this year: the 5C with its brand new body, improved under the hood, great Apple quality and value for the money.

4. On innovation: Are you usually an early adopter of new chips and high end storage options? Good, then you will not complain if the 5S has a little rough edge here and there like lots of even top-quality first-gen hardware may initially demonstrate. Right? You will not carp about how the 5S does not meet your exacting standards? Because otherwise, then really you could carp about the 5C (also a new release) for quite a bit less dough.

I could go on, but game over. ;)

Blah, blah, blah. Nobody is going to read all that!

I think Microsoft is essentially poking fun at the bad press that the iPhone 5C has received recently. However, the video itself I must say wasn't too impressive and at the same time having #timetoswitch has almost no relevance as they haven't even marketed what we are meant to be switching too.

To be fair though some of the WP8 phones aren't bad but not really up to par with either Android or iOS.

Everything I've read about the 5C has been positive. Are you talking about analysts who've been down on Apple for pricing it higher than what the analysts have been expecting?

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

Oh probably puttering around with a first-of-its-kind 64-bit chipset? A painless seamless bridge from 32-bit to 64-bit apps? A big jump forward in practical photographic technology? A great solution for personal data security and the first step towards a true digital wallet technology?

I guess none of that matters to you though... I can tell you as an App developer and an amateur photographer, it certainly is exciting from my perspective...

Apple isn't innocent either. They also attack Microsoft and don't have the best business practices.

You're kidding right? There's a right (funny) way of poking fun at your competitors, and there's a wrong (sad, pathetic) way of poking fun at your competitors. Clearly, this is the wrong way, as even Microsoft has stated now by pulling the videos.

Except parody is supposed to be funny. What was funny about it? It made me sad for M$. That's not funny.

First off, funny is subjective. I thought it made for a couple of good, cheap laughs myself.

Secondly, parody doesn't have to be funny.

Thirdly, I think you're all being a little too overly defensive. No, the commercials aren't that good. They're kinda low budget and look more like a film student project rather than a series of commercials released by a multi-billion dollar corporation. That said, it's not like it's making fun of starving child abuse victims, either. It's just a cheap, low brow stab at the competition.

But whatever it is, it's about as far from cyber-bullying as you can get.

Quick!
Someone get that FaceBack App from the Other Guys and figure out who the CEO is really supposed to be!

It has nothing to do with "taking it" when a company portrays a "sick and thin-looking" Steve Jobs and uses this to make fun of Apple. Completely tasteless. They obviously received a tremendous amount of negative feedback or they wouldn't have removed the videos so quickly. I went to their site immediately and called their customer service line to complain.

There are plenty of other ways to make fun of a company or a product without resorting to this type of behavior/portrayal.

A new design/body style to start out with. We've been looking at this same body style (with minor variations) for almost 4 years now! It is getting old & booorring! Second, 8mp!?? Are you serious lol? You can call it isight, bigger pixels, or Van Gogh.. in the ens it's the same 8mp camera lol.

Can you give me an example of a "new body style" other than a bigger screen ?
