shush, keep it a secret, MR needs the clicks...

I agree w/ you, saw it and though of Cook, unless Jobs came back from the grave to discuss the 5S and 5C (right MR writer :rolleyes:)... the writer here on MR has gone too far this time to get clicks and comments, which makes him/her sadder than the stupid video.

Yeah, maybe it was supposed to be Tim Cook, but you would think since Tim Cook has all GREY hair they would have had someone with GREY hair instead of someone with all BROWN hair. Total fail.

Sometimes? I'd say just about all the time damn. I mean I could understand if it's something rare like "I really wish my iPad had a giant AM/FM reciever on it", but...SD cards? They're used everywhere still. There's no reason not to have one other than it...oh em gee...disturbs the curves and lines of the iPad and makes it look ugly.

There are companies out there that have made tablets thinner and lighter than the iPad and still manage to include one in there. Issues with size and space are hardly worth considering when it comes to something as small as an SD card port.

So yeah, barring a few random exceptions, I think disregarding something and defending its absence simply because your favorite device doesn't have it is short sighted and completely pointless.

Well I think that some truly blind themselves on purpose to why there is no SD card on Apple's devices. It's pretty obvious to me, seeing how it's about $100 more to upgrade to the next memory tier. So instead of buying a 64gb microSD card off of Amazon for $50, I have to pay $200 to Apple for that privilege.

But still people on here rant and rave about the cloud era and how thin and beautiful their phone/tablet is without a memory slot, while happily handing over their cash to Apple. Hey I can't say much, I'm one of those morons who buys an iphone every year.

Make fun of the dead guy who was emaciated with cancer. Yeah. Good move, MSFT. What moron ok'd this campaign?

A lot of people were involved so there's obviously a lot of morons working at Microsoft and its ad agency. Who knows which moron was THE moron?!

Interesting, Went to Indianapolis Apple store at Keystone mall where the store was packed with people. Once I left there went to look at clothes in the mall and looked in the Windows Store and OMG there was not one customer in the store,,,, not one.

I have no idea why people are so against SD cards around here. While cloud storage does help mitigate its absence on the iDevices, not all tablets are sold with a 4G/LTE radio, and for those that are, you sometimes don't want to eat through your allocated data just to stream a bunch of media that could easily be stored on an SD card.

Which is actually the biggest problem with the claims that the cloud completely supplants the need for SD cards.

True, that is the inference, but as you go to point out, Cloud is also a bit of a "scam" still too.

In a perferct world where celluar bandwidth is relatively cheap and access to it is nearly unlimited (damn you lucky European bastards), cloud storage works fine. But in this "you pay us $80 for 1GB monthly, then we gouge you for any data you use over that" world, the cloud is just too expensive to access outside of wifi hotspots.

And don't forget that it generally can't be used while onboard a commercial flight, too.

What this topic tangent really comes down to is a combination of several factors:

  1. Apple loves to charge us top dollar for more (16/32/64/128GB);
  2. So do the {USA} wireless providers too;
  3. There are legitimate UI concerns over '1 vs 2' storage locations vs KISS;
  4. Android needed to have something for product differentiation claims
  5. Not every Use Case will find each product feature to be equally valuable

To this end, I'd certainly appreciate a cheap way to take along some extra stored media for content consumption, such as a bag of ripped DVDs. However, for me personally, I don't really want it to be an SD card slot, but rather a Compact Flash (CF) card slot, as that's what I personally have substantially more of...both in use and total capacity.

Yeah, CF is being superseded by SD, but you can get an SD adaptor for CF, but not the reverse, so it logically should be a CF slot instead of an SD...or have multiple slots. And therein lies the slippery slope.

The real question is, why do people care what others think of the products they use? I couldn't care less what ads Microsoft or Apple put out or what devices other people use. I'm going to use whatever product I like.

It's the same with XB1 vs Ps4. People get so defensive when others say they're going to buy the differing system. WHY DO PEOPLE CARE?!?! It's all so petty.

I guess I should take my own advice. Not care why others care haha.

I wonder where all those Employee's he treated like crap are?

The pure tackiness of this ad is really bothering me. I left my Apple //c for a PC when Apple kicked out Steve Jobs and tried to become a toy company. I used PCs and lots of MS products for years until Steve brought me back to the Mac in 2006. This ad is not only an insult to the memory of a man who pushed innovations that did great things for all computer users but it's not the Microsoft I knew back then which could lead a market. This is really disgusting and I think it wil only play well with that small minority of people who hate all things Apple even though they know nothing about the company or its products. That seems to be the target market here.

Hello,

I hope it's been said before: keeping a link to those videos is what MS wants. There may be a lot of morons there, but the people who had the final say so were not. They knew exactly that the videos were in bad taste, and put them online knowing perfectly well that they would pull them hours later.

They now see everybody reposting the videos (what they really wanted) all the while looking contrite.

Please take the links down, you're just playing into MS's hand.

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

What the hell is an "innovative" phone nowadays anyway? It's a mature technology, just like cars and desktop computers.

No comment on the ads-plenty of tasteless ones out there.

Can you explain to us what you consider to be innovative? Where are others innovative where Apple is not?

SD cards? They are slow, they are ugly, they get dusted, watered, damaged, corrupted..... so, thanks but not thanks. Glad Apple does not do these "Floppy discs" of the 21'st century.

I see your point, but on the bright side, the on board memory in the iphone is way more reliable than any micro SD card. Especially with audio/video. I've had a card or two fail on me before
