I thought Samsung anti-Apple ads were obnoxious... but these are definitely infinitely moreso.

I shudder to think of the thought process of someone who would be swayed by these advertisements.

"How dare Apple make a gold phone! I'm switching!"

"How dare Apple make a phone with a plastic case! I'm switching! Windows phones would never be made of plastic!"

This is on par with the Samsung commercial knocking Apple for changing the location of the headphone jack. Apparently some people can be swayed by pure criticism, no matter how absurd.

This is like a fat kid sitting on the side of the road as marathon runners go by. "Ha! Look at that one with the blue shoes! What a loser!"

They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

Apple's goal is not to be innovative.

Instead, Apple's goal is to maximize total profits. Tested against the true goal, Apple's decisions on these products are likely sound.

Let's be clear about something. This is a youtube video campaign. Which is not the same as a regional or even national ADVERTISING campaign on television.

YouTube is more guerrilla marketing. The tone and style of the video fit the medium, Anyone who thinks this is one and the same as an "ad" is not considering the delivery method.

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves like nice little iSheep. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

And that's what a self-centered person never understands. "How can anyone have a different opinion than mine?"
Or in this case, "I'm a total tech nerd who geeks over (insert useless feature here), so why doesn't everybody else?"

Some people are still on iPhone 4.
Hell, I know some on 3GS.
It's time to upgrade and it's a great phone and some people prefer their Apple products.

Very bad taste Microsoft. Steve is dead, but that doesn't seem to bother them.
This company needs to change. if they don't, then I hope they vanish from earth..
I am sad to see these videos, as I worked for Microsoft before...

Apple is far behind on features that they resort to color changes and minor updates like plastic casings to rejuvenate sales.

All we want is to be able to wave our hand over our phone to answer it!!! Apple at least puts useful features instead of the gimmick ones that Samsung has installed for a "cool" factor and to call themselves innovative. I don't feel the need to even bring Microsoft into that discussion.

What do you all expect from a phone company....What about you, what do you suggest it should have? Do you have a better idea?...DSLR type quality to your phone, you can make calls, read your emails , web browse with high speed...

The Wow moment is not coming from any cell phone company for another 10 years...That moment is gone soon after iphone 3g...

Live with or Die...

How is giving this horrible ad more publicity a good thing? Why give it more page views than it deserves.

IDK why you guys say Jobs.
To me that back head reminds me more of Cook and the other of course Ive.

Are you serious? Google a picture of Tim Cook and google a picture of Steve Jobs.

Clearly it's Steve Jobs when he was sick (look at his neck line and collar bone area). Tim has a longer vertical head than Steve who had a shorter rounder head, also a dead give away for what they were looking for.

Also Tim Cook wears collared shirts, Steve Jobs did not. The person in the video is clearly not wearing a collard shirt and appears skinny and frail. They obviously intended it to resemble Steve Jobs even if they call him Tim...

Oh please....your lack of understanding doesn't give you license to mock an entire user base. But hey, if insulting millions of customers willing to spend their hard earned money on something YOU think isn't innovative or worth it is what helps you feel better about yourself, by all means.....

What a load of crap this post is.

What do you mean IF they meant to resemble SJ? Of course they did, and that is really messed up as they chose a very skinny-cancer-actor. Pretty low MS, but most acts of desperation are.

About the 5c: at one point in the ad they say "Will they tell people it's plastic? No." Then like 15 seconds later they talk about how Apple will tell people about the plastic. What? Also, Apple specifically says its "unapologetically plastic."

Just.. dumb.

Yep, Apple has not hidden that it's plastic. They are proud of it in fact. Because they feel they have done the plastic phone right. Smooth, glossy, beautiful. Not cheap and tawdry like the old processes which is why they moved away from them in the first place.

That apple is proud of the plastic makes the joke fall very flat

Good Stuff... Better than those stupid Surface commercials with those kids dancing and twirling their tablets

The surface RT commercials with the Siri "conversations" are actually well done and funny. The RT is still a steaming pile of uselessness, of course, but the commercial is good.

Really?

Among other things

iOS 7 - MEH. JAILBREAK GETS YOU 90% OF IT ALREADY.
Mavericks - MEH.
Mac Pro - STILL WAITING AND IT IS FOR 1% OF THE MARKET ANYWAY.
Two new iPhones --- BOTH ARE HO-HUM.
Several content deals for the Apple TV. BUT NO SETTOP BOX. I THOUGHT STEVE SAID HE CRACKED THIS ALREADY.
New AirPort Extreme - WHICH NETGEAR AND OTHER HAVE HAD OUT FOR MONTHS.
Scored a huge iPad us deal with the second biggest public school district in the US - -TOTALLY AGREE ON THIS ONE.
Etc

CEO

.

And the beauty part is, we can charge what ever we want.
True. And the funny part is, Microsoft and Nokia can't make a profit, no matter what they charge. Microsoft Surface and Nokia Lumia scream out loud: We want to be more like Apple and make billions on hardware sales.

I can't afford the expensive Apple stuff I want and I don't want the cheap Microsoft stuff I can afford. Its a dilemma. Luckily the ugliness of iOS7 reduces my desire for iPhones. Modern UI design saves me a lot of money. :D
Its worth its weight in phones.
Yeah.

Pathetic

The further Microsoft falls, the more desperate they become, and ultimately come up with crap like this. Hopefully this will come back to smack them in their smug mugs!

The comments in here are biased. You're either a lover or a hater. Hardly anyone comments here with a level head. Just read the YouTube comments to see what the general public is thinking, they all hate the ads. Think they're tasteless and not funny.

Go look at the comments on YouTube. Several folks say they are even MS developers and are reconsidering because of the tastelessness of these videos. Ouch

I don't condemn Microsoft taking swipes at Apple any more than I condemn Apple taking swipes at PCs, but is it my imagination or does Microsoft's attempts come off as petulant and sort of mean-spirited? At least spend some money and get a real comedian or writer in there to produce a clever or funny script. This just seems angry.

At least Samsung pulls this off with devices that people might actually prefer over an iPhone.

Completely agree.

I've actually had a change of heart regarding Samsung's advertisements. Honestly, its really because they decided to go away from the whole "mock Apple's customers" idea (because its brilliant to mock the people you are trying to get to switch to you..../s) and their ads truly showcase what the phone can actually DO. In somewhat real life situations.

Not to mention their phones are actually popular and people care about them - unlike WP8 devices (apologies to the few who really do like them - a 2% and dropping marketshare number isn't a good sign).

Anyhow, tasteless advertising only serves to stir up the flame wars even more. ANY company that does it irritates me - haven't been a HUGE fan of Apple calling out Android in their keynotes either. BUT, their ads are always very well done and only showcase APPLE products, instead of poking fun at others.

All the latter tells me is, you aren't confident your product can stand on its own so you have to attempt to tear down the competition while trying to show off your product......

And in the end, you just look silly.

Can't say I approve of them simulating Steve Jobs. The guy is Dead. Leave him alone.

Cook and Ive are fair game though. Although, NO EXECUTIVE in corporate history is more laughable than Balmer.
