Microsoft knows that Apple buyers are emotionally connected to their image. They are also very sensitive by nature as one can see from the posts here, lashing out at Microsoft.

It's only advertising.

iOS 7 - MEH. JAILBREAK GETS YOU 90% OF IT ALREADY.
Mavericks - MEH.
Mac Pro - STILL WAITING AND IT IS FOR 1% OF THE MARKET ANYWAY.
Two new iPhones --- BOTH ARE HO-HUM.
Several content deals for the Apple TV. BUT NO SETTOP BOX. I THOUGHT STEVE SAID HE CRACKED THIS ALREADY.
New AirPort Extreme - WHICH NETGEAR AND OTHER HAVE HAD OUT FOR MONTHS.

CEO

The question wasn't if tech snobs on a site like this like what they were doing but simply what were they doing. A question that implies that they were doing nothing. Like the results or not they have been up to a lot.

The same is not evident from MS at this point.

Even for the piece of crap that has become Microsoft. That was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. Did Balmer direct it?

All of you deriding this for being childish, obviously must have forgotten the Mac vs PC ads.

I personally couldn't care less about this. They're not terribly good, but I believe it is likely unwise to insult potential customers. Probably better to commiserate with them.

Samsung could pull teasing apple as they have more parity in their comparable devices

Microsoft is a distant third place! Who are they kidding

I agree with this sentiment. Sums it up.

Samsung are now overtaking Apple...so have the right to take the mickey.

Whereas MS are a poor third now with not much more to shout about.

Yes. The 5C is one of the worst Apple have ever released as 'new'.

Yes the 5S should've been a "straight to 6" with full size screen because the 5 was just a rehashed and flattened 4S so even that was a year old!

And yes Apple didn't have the time or planning to do it so rushed out the cut down 5S ... But they have IOS 7 .. (which really should've been launched with the 6) and this will tide things over til Apple launch the 'proper' full blown model next year at long last.

But even with a half-finished range -Apple are still superior to MS.

And if anything it is Apple who should be making the parodies in reverse to make fun if the fact that Microsoft still can't come up with a better product when their nearest competitor is fighting with one arm behind its back.

Apple should respond with an ad that simply has the surface tablet sitting next to a window phone. Vocal track of people laughing. Then a graphic that's simply says "yeah, so how's that working out for ya?"

The pure tackiness of this ad is really bothering me. I left my Apple //c for a PC when Apple kicked out Steve Jobs and tried to become a toy company. I used PCs and lots of MS products for years until Steve brought me back to the Mac in 2006. This ad is not only an insult to the memory of a man who pushed innovations that did great things for all computer users but it's not the Microsoft I knew back then which could lead a market. This is really disgusting and I think it wil only play well with that small minority of people who hate all things Apple even though they know nothing about the company or its products. That seems to be the target market here.

Innovate (according to the dictionary): make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new methods, ideas, or products
Thanks for saving me the trouble of writing that. I think a lot of people underestimate the potential of the M7 chip; I think it's gonna be crazy interesting how the CoreMotion API is used.

And in light of that 64-bit processor? Seriously, Apple is paving the way for some exciting things.

Looks like Microsoft is imitating Samsung now. It won't make any difference. People are not as stupid as these ad agencies think they are. What a waste of time and money this ad is.

Seems pretty accurate actually.

Imagine a GM ad insulting BMW because their new innovative electric car has normal-sized black wheels and a new color body. That would be "pretty accurate", but seem stupid/desperate precisely because it overlooks major functional improvements.

MS looks embarrassingly dumb here precisely because of the focus on admittedly minor changes (color, plastic) and misconstruing the importance of a feature (touch) while totally ignoring major functional improvements (double processor speed, low-power motion tracker, biometrics, increased battery life).

Insulting the color of a car is not impressive when it can accelerate twice as fast as yours.

I'm a big supporter of Apple and If it was Samsung, I wouldn't mind. Apple & Samsung are equally having that kind of right to mock each other (in Smartphone area), but Microsoft, it's yesterday news.
Microsoft will never beat Apple. Microsoft is in a way "ancient".

Pretty lame. Microsoft just look incredibly desperate, with the way they keep attacking Apple in their adverts (to me that's a weak way of promoting a product, by simply attacking other products), the way they've ripped off the Apple stores in so many ways (and built them as close to Apple stores as they can), or the way they're even now just offering to give consumers money for their iPads. It just puts me off ever wanting a windows device, other than my PC.

That and they were almost half a decade late to the game and still don't seem to have made a great impact.

All of you deriding this for being childish, obviously must have forgotten the Mac vs PC ads.

Those ads too real complaints that you could find in dozens of websites, chat rooms etc and addressed how the Mac deals with the issue.

I didn't see a mention of any other device in this tripe. Just bashing. And over banal stuff like the colors, materials etc. And coming from a company that produces brightly colored 'hear it click when you attach it' keyboards for their tablet.

Omg!!!!

Microsoft, what the Hell is wrong with you? Way too far this time.

Ballmer on his way out. Freaking sorry excuse for a Humane. If you were in front of me right now Ballmer I'd deck you.

It's clearly meant to be SJ. Any laywers want to go after this filth?

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves like nice little iSheep. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

As posted before by many others:

This product category is matured to a point that innovation is no longer possible.

Besides phone size , memory, speed, battery life, better cameras etc. etc. one can only cram in the latest technology, but then that exists and is not innovative.

And yes, they are no longer innovative! (Because they can't be)

It is a metaphor....

Metaphor my butt. I highly doubt the people at Microsoft sat around saying "you know everyone wants Tim to be like Steve. So in our commercials lets make him look like Steve! That will be the best metaphor yet!"

How do people know Apple? From Steve Jobs. So they used someone that would resemble him. That's how commercials are done. At least in the real world, considering the ties I have with the Advertising Market.

These videos have some funny and true points....If someone made them for fun but as far as Microsoft making them probably a bad iDea

I'm really curious to see where Microsoft goes now.....its really quite fascinating (and really crazy) watching such a giant flail and make desperate attempts to hold onto a user base they once owned and held with an iron grip.

I think they know what's happening - computing is going mobile. Apple got ahead of the curve by practically starting the whole thing, and Google (Android) made BIG strides VERY quickly by getting out to as many OEM's as possible.

Honestly, I don't see Apple changing much. They've been the somewhat "niche" company for years in the PC market for years, and despite a booming start in mobile, I think they are still somewhat niche - and that seems to be fine with them. They aren't a "market share hungry" company (the 5C pricing is evidence they intend to stick to their guns).

Honestly, its funny MS is going after Apple - really, Android is taking their place as the open source OS for all of the future.
