Okay go return your iPod and iPad for a zune and a windows seven tablet. You are through.

I can't man. Just can't do it. Without at least owning 1 apple product, my life would be pointless and empty. Apple gives me life and I shall defend apple with my life as I owe the meaning of my existence to them. It is the least I can do for apple.

Plus I ordered a Vaja case for my iphone and I can't cancel the order, and they take 45 days to make.

Dude, seriously, relax. They're all just products. I've probably owned more apple products within the past few years than most people on this site:
24" Apple LED cinema display
blackbook
original unibody macbook
13" MBP
15" MBP from 06
Mac Mini (got it for my parents, but the HDD on it broke and needs to be replaced. I guess I don't actually own it.)
20" Apple Cinema Display
like 2-3 ipod Nanos
original ipod touch
Every single iphone (from the original to the current iphone 4)
A couple apple keyboards (though they are crappy membrane keyboards. I stick to strictly mechanical keyboards now)
20" iMac (yes the ones with the crappy TN panel)
Apple airport express (overpriced POS)
ipad

In the end, I'm happy with windows 7 as I am a hardware enthusiast and enjoy being able to configure and put together the exact hardware of my choice when it comes to the desktop world. If microsoft still had vista, I probably wouldn't have bought an M11x to replace my 13" MBP. In fact, if Alienware never released the m11x, I'd have prob bought a 13" MBP again, but I like having the smaller form-factor and the gaming performance of the m11x. Probably would have gotten a 15" MBP due to the fact 13" MBPs don't have nehalem.

In the end, blindly following a particular company or brand is silly. Just buy what you feel suits you and or your needs best.

You Lie!

From MS' site: "Simplicity: Intuitive, familiar, and easy to use, PCs do what you want: they just work."

Before you say that I'm taking this personally, look at the size of your posts VS. the size of mine.

Something is happening here and you don't know what it is... do you Mr. Jones?

looking at your post count, you don't seem like a big forum poster, so the size of your posts are no surprise.

4 simple facts:

1) Mac can run both OS X AND Windows.... PCs don't

2) We see lot of PC users that want to switch to Mac... We never saw anyone that *want* to switch back to PC.... there's surely a reason.

3) Apple really leads the market.... Microsoft doesn't have a "bit" of creativity and always copy what Apple does... (look: OS X, iPod, iPhone, iPad, ...)

4) Steve Jobs could sell you sand in the middle of the Desert.... Steve Ballmer is just a douch*** that probably can't even convinced himself to use his products.

Facts? Really? Do you even know what a fact is? Let's go through your 4 opinions:

1)PCs can easily run Mac OS...haven't you ever heard of Hackintosh?...or the numerous netbooks that people uninstall Windows and install their hacked Mac OS? Moreover, the entire point of Windows is that it can be installed on literally thousands of different machines so long as the machine can support the Windows software. Apple, on the other hand, as a company has made it very clear in its licensing that Mac OS can ONLY BE INSTALLED (legally) on a Mac. Period. End of story. Don't believe me?...Google it yourself and read about the lawsuits with Pystar or even the thousands of Mac fans that oppose this license agreement.

2)Never say never...you're telling us, factually, that not a single person in the world has switched from a Mac to a PC? You're easily wrong. In fact, I tried the Macs back in the late 80s and didn't like them at all (compared to my Apple //e and the PC clones we used at school and later college). From the 80s until 2007 I never touched a Mac...I bought a Mini in 2007. It's ok. It does what I need it to do (nice video editing) but the Mini OS does the same stuff as Windows XP. And on a related note, what about all the Mac folks who have Fusion so they can run virtual instances of Windows on their Macs? Yeah.

3)Apple leads the market? What market? MP3 music players? Apple certainly does not lead the personal computer market with consistent <10% market share over the past 20 years. And what about business market?...probably less than 5% market share.

4)Your #4 is just your opinion/dislike for Ballmer. Big deal.

Your post makes you look incredibly stupid.

Apple Has Better Marketing and much more!

This is my first forum post ever!

Mac has much better marketing and brand loyalty. The loyalty of Microsoft machines comes from cheaper systems and companies not wanting or being able to start over from scratch. They probably would if they had the opportunity. What does that solution look like and how much will it cost?

Microsoft has the business sector and some of the consumers who can't justify the expense of a Mac or have not been educated on the facts.

Apple could accomplish volumes just by educating people further on the actual cost of a PC. Loss in time fixing/preventing issues, having to pay someone else to fix it (geek Squad) and the cost to do so over the lifespan of the computer.

Presenting it in a easy to understand equation would really help consumers. I have weighed the facts many times and Apple wins in every category except the cost category. I'm sure Apple knows this and know that if people understand that Apple is the best they will spend the money to do so. Look at the iphone, everyone wants one and will have one once Verizon is in the game.

If Apple could create the perception that Mac is like the "Bentley" and PC's are like the "Pinto" they would increase sales even more. They have made great strides with their commercials to do this. I think Apple needs to pick up the pace and keep driving these concepts across the finish line.

I know at least 30 people that are considering making the transition to MAC. The people that I have personally been able to take to the apple store and show around have all converted to Apple products. Why is that?

They get there questions answered and they get to see it in action. Another great marketing tool for Apple. I work on both PC and MAC but I do it all on my MAC. Its a no brainer!

It all comes down to Marketing and Fact Checking and Apple is the best at it. I can pretty much guarantee you that Apple is already working on new and improved marketing campaigns that will propel them forward once again.

The only negative I have to Apple is I think Apple should work with Adobe not against them and help Adobe to find a solution that works. Completely shutting doors is a dangerous game for all players involved. Plus its really not necessary if combined the resources are available to find a solution. What that solution looks like nobody knows but its out there.

Actually, you'd be surprised to discover, how many people are switching back. Many people switched to Mac during the white plastic era, when the alternative was to go XP or Vista. These people are now replacing their computers. What they see is a bit different from a few years ago. Here, in europe, for the same price that you could buy an entry-level portable, now you can only buy a Mini and a keyboard with a mouse. The price of the mid-range portable from 2006-08 is not even enough for the cheapest plastic MacBook. Annoyingly, after four years, it would be a marginally faster C2D - the same technology that they had. Why pay more for pretty much the same or something marginally faster?

In the meantime, the Windows-based PC market got extremely competitive. How much is the cheapest i5 portable with 15" screen? Less than half the price of Apple's i5 MBP. We might be able to justify our Mac purchase in one way or another, but for many people, computing is not an obsession. They have a life. They want a computer to do certain tasks. As long as a decent Windows machine achieves that for a lot less, there is no reason to buy a Mac.

I have been using Macs for a while now and they have been my primary computers in the last five years. I still miss Winamp, Total Commander and I wish that OS X had a similar file management system to Windows. If I didn't have CS4 and a bunch of Mac-based applications installed, I don't think I would mind using XP again or Windows 7. In the end, OS is just an OS. On its own, it has no use. Applications, tasks matter. But if I was one of those people who buy Macs just because they have the safety net of Boot Camp or virtualisation; I would have already started looking at actual configurations.

Macs Work

I'm sure Windows 7 is great; so I've heard. But, look, so was WinXP, really - when my old Dell was new. Unfortunately, as time went on (and not a lot of time), the performance became glacial. But, hey, at least it didn't crash, which was definitely progress, as far as it goes. And then, we found that almost all USB-interface devices wouldn't work with it without freezing up the machine, which, of course, puts one in the DO loop of Dell pointing to the OS and Microsoft pointing to the hardware and the problem essentially being unsolvable.

OK, my iMac didn't come in Cherry Red, and, yes, there was a learning curve, but it just works, period. I leave it on for more than a week, and, though Safari has the very infrequent issue, the only application that ever really crashes on it is MS Office.

If Win7 can just plain do that, not just when the computer is new, but three years from now, then great for MS and it's customers, but I'm not going back. I've already wasted too many years of my life waiting, and waiting, and waiting for PCs to respond to this or that simple action, or rebooting, and rebooting, and rebooting.

4 simple facts:

Really? These are all facts are they?

1) Mac can run both OS X AND Windows.... PCs don't[/quote]

They can. It's called hackintosh, and there are many people doing it to get cheap, powerful OS X machines with the features they want rather than the features Steve Jobs THINKS they want for an inflated price.

2) We see lot of PC users that want to switch to Mac... We never saw anyone that *want* to switch back to PC.... there's surely a reason.
Never. Never ever? Really? I don't know what world you live in - but some people just don't like OS X full stop. I personally know someone who had a mac, and switched back, they didn't like it. I'm unlikely to buy another Mac computer unless I see a lot of changes in where Steve Jobs is taking OS X and laptop hardware. When my UBMB hits retirement, I'll probably switch back. To be fair - I use my iPad a great deal, but a similar performance/battery life Android tablet with a camera - and I'd dump my iPad in a second.

3) Apple really leads the market....

They didn't make the first smart phone. They didn't make the first MP3 player. They didn't make the first tablet. They didn't make the first chicklet keyboard. They don't lead desktop marketshare, they don't lead smartphone market share. They DO lead in MP3 players.

4) Steve Jobs could sell you sand in the middle of the Desert.... Steve Ballmer is just a douch*** that probably can't even convinced himself to use his products.

Steve could put an Apple logo on a dog turd, charge $49 for it, and people here would be falling over themselves to buy it.

Your 4 simple facts are infact, not facts at all.

Steve could put an Apple logo on a dog turd, charge $49 for it, and people here would be falling over themselves to buy it.

Ah, there's the classic (unoriginal) line! I knew it was just a matter of time. When in doubt, throw the "Apple-logo-on-a-dog-turd" card. Works every time!

I suppose turnabout is fair play: Steve Ballmer could put a Windows logo on a dog turd, charge $XXX for it, and people would be falling over themselves to buy it.

As perfectly evidenced by their 90% market share.

A Windows proponent would do well not to invoke the "mindless masses" charge without a good hard look in the mirror first.

"Things just don't work the same way on Macs if you're used to a PC. For example, the mouse works differently. And many of the shortcuts you're familiar with don't work the same way on a Mac."

WTF lol they're clearly grasping at straws here.

WTF lol they're clearly grasping at straws here.

Perhaps. People are really riled up.

As a bit of an intellectual exercise, I decided to fisk the MS article:

http://wehavealwaysbeenatwarwitheur.asia/msfisk/

Feel free to distribute and constructively comment....

I actually found many of the arguments a little weak. Things like this:

Things just don't work the same way on Macs if you're used to a PC. For example, the mouse works differently

Yeah, you have to nudge the mouse along with your nose, or put your arm under your leg and manipulate it like the Monty Python version of the Freemason handshake (Seriously, WTF?).

That doesn't come off as an argument, but a bit fanboyish - please take this as constructive criticism. Taking a calm, cool step back and logically break it down and you are more likely to get people who don't share your viewpoint to listen. Make your point, present a solution or counter point, but don't insult for the sake of simply answering a bullet point. It doesn't help mac owners look better and it doesn't help interest windows users in the mac.

Windows can make all the improvements they want. I went Mac about 5 years ago and I won't be going back. If I'm really desperate, I'll load their crappy OS into Parallels.

Do you really like Apple (the corporation) that much? It would appear that you are ready to buy their products no matter how crappy they are.

Out of interest, would All Mac owners be happy if Msoft was more strict (as Apple are) and stopped Windows from running on Mac hardware, as Apple stop OSX running on non Mac hardware.

That would be fair and equal to both sides then would it not.

Always amazes me how Mac users use Office when anything Msoft seems to be spawn of the devil.

They should not be using anything Microsoft on their machines.

I can never understand how anyone seriously can argue for lack of choice.

We have Apple that allows some things and disallows other things on their machines and that's good.

Msoft make the OS and pretty much say, do anything you like, it's up to you the consumer and that's bad.

Seems back to front to me.

How can more customer choice be a negative?

Not surprising at all. It fits perfectly with Microsoft's operating philosophy: "Our customers are idiots."

got a blue hammock? you need a PC. and bigger eyes, they're not quite big enough just yet.

Do you really hate Apple that much? It would appear that you do based on the sheer amount of time you spend trolling this forum.

What does any of that have to do with being fair? And how would that be fair to MS? It doesn't matter what hardware their OS gets loaded on to. They still make the license fee. It's in their best interest to get windows on as many machines as possible.

You don't have to like something to necessitate using it. Lots of people hate going to the dentist, but life pretty much makes them have to.

I can never understand how anyone seriously can argue for lack of choice […]How can more customer choice be a negative?

I can't understand how you think that's what people are arguing for?
