Haven't we learned the lesson yet that more features does not necessarily mean a better product? A decked out Hyundai Equus is about the same price as the entry level Mercedes E series with fewer amenities. If I'm buying my money goes to Mercedes. Nothing against Hyundai, but its cars are not Mercedes-level anymore than Macaroni Grill's food is worth of a perfect score in Zagat.
For some people, it's all about a checklist. If device A does more than device B, device A will always be better no matter what. Always. Apple devices will never be catered to these people, and the sooner they realize this the happier they will be.
It's not that it irritates me, it saddens me and makes me wish people has a little more independent thought than just what a company produces.
It is almost exactly like a religion for many where you are not supposed to question what the leader of the faith had degreed is the case.
Search these very forums:
iPhone 4 = Was classed as a cheap Chinese knock off, poor design, nasty looking when it was seen in sneak photos, but when it became clear it really was the new iPhone attitudes almost swung 180 degree's overnight.
I agree- see my comment below on iOS 7
iPad Mini = No way would Apple product a smaller iPad, and they should not, any smaller would be terrible, and unusable. Now so many people are saying how amazing it is, and some even downgrading from their full size iPad to the mini version.
Apple didn't exactly do what those people didn't want them to do. By making a 7.9" tablet as opposed to the popular 7" size, it was big enough to be noticeably different from a 7" tablet, but still MUCH smaller than the full size iPad. Regarding usability, the 7.9" size also has the side benefit of having exactly the same DPI as the iPhone- people that can successfully use an iPhone can successfully use an iPad mini.
Is the iPhone 5 aspect ratio wrong still now as it was deemed any such change would be wrong?
I was happy with the previous iPhones, and I am happy with my iPhone 5. That said, I feel like a lot of the apprehension about aspect ratio was not directed towards the iPhone becoming 16:9, but towards the people saying that the iPhone was behind because it
wasn't 16:9. 4:3 is still a good aspect ratio, but 16:9 allowed Apple to keep the same PPI as the iPhone 4/4S and increase the size of the phone in a way that made things manageable for developers. It's not a matter of ideology, in any case.
Is iOS7 still going to remain looking terrible to most people here?
Yeah, this is definitely a put up or shut up moment... if iOS 7 is really that bad to some of these people, they should switch to Android or Windows Phone. But most of them will just eat their vegetables and get on with their lives.
Will Apple produce a widescreen Tablet ever, which also has been said would be terrible?
See my comment about the iPhone 5.
Again it does not irrigate me, it saddens and in a sad was amuses me that too many people are unable to have a independent opinion on something.
It's not a matter of having an independent opinion. Plenty of people have the independent opinion that Apple products are better than those of their competitors. You don't have to take a magnifying glass to each and every one of Apple's products to determine that the Apple ecosystem either works for you or doesn't work for you. A big reason why people's defenses of Apple can seem really petty is because the attacks on them are equally as petty. Personally, Apple products work for me. I don't need to put down other brands to feel confident in my opinion.
And Black can be terrible and white amazing today because Apple make white but not black.
And yet in a week time when Apple stop white and change to black, then Black will be Amazing and White terrible.
This is vastly oversimplifying the points you already made above.
Reading these forums over the years this happens again and again
As I say, it's just as if they are in church and they dare never question the teachings of the holy one, as the holy one always knows what's right.
This isn't a matter of religion. I don't think that agreeing with Apple's general philosophy is something even remotely "religious" in nature, any more than vehemently disliking Apple is religious in nature. I wish people would just accept that some people like Apple as a company (not just for their products), just as I wish Apple fans would stop throwing stones at people just for liking other products.
