Like others in here... He should have spent the $1500 on fixing that car, like painting it.

Yet again though, I don't care and I bet others here still don't. There's more to it than what they try to show.
The only thing that gets me is Apple looks like their sitting on their hands going "we can't say anything against the ad" Although the biggest argument Microsoft can win is against Apple's laptop line. Apple has neglected to make a 15" MacBook (not a MacBook Pro). I understand that a Mac is more than just internet browsing, porn and writing papers... but it's what 80% of the people do.

Yeah like this forum is representative of the real world.

Reading all those posts I thought it's a place with very well educated and conscious Mac industry related individuals.

Thanx for proving my overall points that I always post in here :D
Beer on me sir!

Probably that's why you have a Mac since looks is so important to you.
How Americans call this??

Superficial?
:D

So clicking the 'next, next, next' button with your mouse is ass-backwards?
Ok...

Not as easy as drag and drop :)

How about the airport on MB and MBPs that looses connection every 5-10 minutes? State of the art and so user friendly isn't it?

I never had a problem.... might be your router. I had a similar issue with my previous Netgear router.

I had a problem. They exchanged it in the end but that wasn't a easy process.

Ok.

So you are telling me that usual (from what I can tell looking at some google images and reading thru specs) 1/2 - 1/4 inch difference makes that big of a deal?

Believe or not that extra space makes a huge difference in terms of usability. Also the touchpads that Apple uses seem to be much more sensitive. I had a Sony Vaio Z perviously and sometimes my finger wouldn't even register.

Greatest quote of this thread:
"Your hardware is only as good as your OS allows it to be."

This ad is great, it made me laugh because the guy's such an idiot. He wants processing power but the Mac is easily twice as fast as what he bought. I cannot wait for the next Mac vs. PC ad to destroy this campaign.

So what if looks are important to mac users, last time I checked people buy things that look good from clothes, to their house, to their car, to even food.

So how come that with all the brands available in the US market they end up buying a HP laptop in BOTH commercials ?

Yeah like this forum is representative of the real world.

no but i do agree that apple's quality isn't perfect like the users here feel it is sometimes. I see a problem with almost every Mac in my class. But they get them taken care of with applecare so it doesn't really matter.

good second commercial. keep up the competition, however direct or indirect it is.

Some of the reactions to these two ads reminds me of one of the final scenes from Blazing Saddles where the cowboys crash into the musical production and all the male dancers run around screaming. :D

Of course Apple isn't perfect, just like everything else in this world, LOL.

But last time I checked Apple has the highest satisfaction rates in the industry plus plus reliability, there's a reason they have that.

lol

I am a lawyer for a V10 firm. That's beside the point.

Majority of the fanboys were attacking the AD as baseless. The ad is perfectly warranted. By your own admission you admit that Apple can not compete with the prices set forth by OEM PC manufactures. Thus, the only reason you buy a Macintosh is for looks/OS.

The ad was just showing that realization, you can buy a cheaper PC than has better hardware than a MAC.

You know, it's hardware that makes compiling times faster, dvd ripping quicker, hd playback smoother.

Well, hardware is only as good as the software you're running on it. You can have the worlds fastest supercomputer but if all you can run on it is Pong then its pretty useless (unless you're really into Pong).

Ads are baseless because they are selling a piece of software, in this case the Windows operating system. Problem is that the ads have nothing to do with Windows, software or operating systems and instead focus on the cost and specs of the hardware as the end all be all of selecting a computer.

Its incredibly misleading to tell consumers that all that matters is the hardware when what you are actually selling is a software product like Windows.

By the way Apple is in the business of selling hardware AND software. It's this combo that has made the company so successful with their Mac, iPod and iPhone lines. It's a classic case of 1 + 1 = 3

Palm gets it, why do you think they poured time and money into developing their own mobile WebOS software for the Pre when they already had Palm phones running Windows Mobile.

Absolutely nothing till it becomes your driving force and blinds you on many beneficial aspects or positive sides of what's hidden 'under the hood'.
It's not always gold what it shines (I think that's how you translate it :D ).

Не needs to add 50USD for antivirus software
and a lot of USD for some other software which isn't included into Windows=))))
So price is about 2k=)))
Burn in hell MS

OMG dude you're stupid. It's called an international corperation! Apple's HQ is in California their factories are in Asia! Those are still Apple employees just because its assembled overseas doesn't mean its not the same company dude.

Give us a break. It's well known that Apple uses the same Chinese assemblers as every other electronics manufacturer - FoxConn, Quanta, Flextronics, etc.

These are NOT Apple employees. Otherwise, they wouldn't be posting pictures of unreleased products. You probably think Apple produces its own RAM also.

Apple hasn't assembled their own computers in years. The outsourcing of manufacturing was a big component of Steve Jobs' recovery plan for Apple.

"Jobs has slashed expenses from $8.1 billion in 1997 to $5.7 billion in 1999 by outsourcing manufacturing ..."

http://www.businessweek.com/2000/00_31/b3692001.htm

Do a Google search on "apple computer outsourcing."

Not sure what you're on about here - I use Avast which is rates Advanced+. That means it's fast and uses minimal resources, however the tests that AV Comparatives use involve active scanning and boot up, not passive background scanning which uses minimal resources. The paper explains the rationale behind it:

Really? $1,100 + $50 is $2,000?

Also, what software are we talking about here? Because I think it comes with Works, etc already.

Oh yeah and, as a final point, there's plenty of free AV software available.

Not as easy as drag and drop :)

But not ass-backwards either that's for sure. Big difference.

I never had a problem.... might be your router. I had a similar issue with my previous Netgear router.

Netgear, DLink and now Belkin. Add Starbucks, Borders locations and airports as I actually visit them quite often. I'm quite certain it's apple that can't fix it.

Believe or not that extra space makes a huge difference in terms of usability. Also the touchpads that Apple uses seem to be much more sensitive. I had a Sony Vaio Z perviously and sometimes my finger wouldn't even register.

I won't argue on this as it actually might be a case for somebody with sensitive hands.

I thought the first ad was much better. The style over substance and I'm picky statement really turned me off to this commercial. At least the first one had a point about not being able to buy a large 17" or 19" screen under $1000, this one was just stupid.

I seriously don't think these adverts are that bad, the first one the lady was not cool enough to own a mac and the man was picky, two personality traits not that greatly desired.

Great ad.

Apple fanboys up in arms because Microsoft have DARED to do exactly what Apple have been doing for years and years. Only Microsoft are actually basing their ads on real-world, consumer facts and don't sugar coat it with pretentious nonsense like the I'm a mac, I'm a pc ad.

Also amazing how Microsoft have in one campaign completely ruined Apple's "I'm a mac, I'm a PC" slogan.

The apple fanboys bitching and moaning is fun to watch though

And the Microsoft lovers who come on Apple sites to post are equally fun to watch.
I find it amusing that anyone who views this without their eyes in Steve's colon are considered "microsoft lovers" who shouldnt even be on this site.
I agree with Stevearm up there, does that make me a "windows lover"? Mind you, i havent seen the windows install on my computer in several months. But i dont see Apple as the computing equivalent to Jesus, so i must be a "windows lover" who showed up to the party just to pick at apple, right?
