These threads are so much fan!!!!!

Bring it on m$!!!

Boys the next windows 7 will have a dock? Can you believe that? M$ is so innovative!! Internet explorer is slower by 10x or more than opera, ff, safari and windows now have a dock!!!! These guys are on fire!!!

they should be offering money for these machines not asking for money!!!:D:D

Btw to all the pcs who flood these forums in such occasions, while we actually get bans for even having (i did) for just replying to them - these forums are fair-er to others than to the mac community it seems..., have fun while your machines last!!!

Yes, it's so sad it's almost fun...to see PC trollers populating these forums...in fact, PC-toting Mac bashers should be banned from MR...they add nothing to these discussions apart from their inferiority complex coming from ownership of a lower-class product.

Yeah but you do realize that if they actually start comparing OS to OS MS fails on every point. Especially the price ...
How the hell can it fail on the price? The price of an OS X upgrade isn't the actual price of a full license of OS X, you know. The initial cost of the full license is baked into the (high) price of the Mac you buy.

And you just scream intelligence.

Your username says it all. Apple cult? Really? I'm pretty sure Apple is a business just like Sony and Microsoft and HP and et cetera. Point is, they're only in it for one thing: your money.

Also, last time I checked you can install Safari, Opera, and Firefox on any Windows PC. Crazy isn't it? Docks for windows have been available for a long time now and I like ice cream. I know you're trolling so I guess I took the bait nevertheless. Darn.

And how easy is it to uninstall IE on Windows? Thank you.

It's when the Mac faithful resort to Neanderthal-style Windows bashing á la "beige boxes, winbloze, wintel, malware, viruses, Windows registry, yada yada" that it becomes annoying, especially for those of us who know and use both platforms and can see through that BS like it was a wet T-shirt. People who use such futuristic looking computers should know better than to use stale rhetoric from 1995.

You seem to be making an argument but you aren't really. First of all lose the neanderthal comparison because it doesn't hold ground evolutionarywise, no one knows why they did not survive, it doesn't have to do with their bran sizes or prowess however.

The rest of what you are saying, let me gladly pick apart your stale rhetoric:
beige boxes: Arent' pc's like that? Of course they are, not the beige boxes of 1995 like you said, but they are equally tasteless in their vast majority, with tens of stickers on them about win inside and intel inside you cant get out, most are overisized, etc. etc. Is there a more robust and aesthetically pleasing manufactring process than the unibody in lappies? Tell me if you find one. So this is correct, this is

malware, viruses: So you think this is not a problem them. Ok then why has ms themselves equipped windoze with a malware protection scanner and if yo dont activate your antivirus you get a red flag: your computer is not secure? If windows doesn't have an issue with these then whey is every windows machine armed to the teeth with software trying to fight them? Exactly.

winbloze: Doesn't it? In their two last versions they incorporated a search funtion available ages ago in macs and a dock (in 7) available since ages again in macs and touted them as advances. Why isn't a mac user justified in calling them winbloze since by their own admission they have kept adding mac features. Tell me of ONE, JUST ONE, feature that ms has in their os (other than cut paste merge) that is superior to macs. JUST ONE?

Windows registry:Again of course this not a problem that's why registry fixers and cleaners are the no. 1 download for pcs and the forums abound with issues for the registry...

As someone like myself coming from a windows platform I can see through YOUR hot air rhetoric

And how easy is it to uninstall IE on Windows? Thank you.
Easy as pie in Windows 7. You can uninstall IE8, Media Player, Windows Search, Media Center, DVD Maker and a few dozen other Windows components. Yes, even the media players. How easy is it to uninstall QuickTime from OSX? Thank you.

Sort of irrelevant, but...

Okay, so you install Windows in Boot Camp on a Mac. Install NTFS-3G and MacFUSE in OS X to be able to write into NTFS partitions.

Now, go into the Boot Camp partition from within OS X. Go to Program Files and simply drag all of the programs that you'll never use–Internet Explorer, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Player, etc.–to the OS X Trash.

Booting into Windows, they'll actually be gone. GONE! And Windows won't yell at you.

But then again, there are also so many Mac-toting PC bashers here too. This kind of attitude backfires on the people who have them. Instead of making the other side look bad, they're making themselves look like jackasses.

You are very polite...

Hey Br, how are you doing buddy? It's a testament of the fairness of these forums that they allow pc users trolling here and provoking us mac user in their so to speak homes, I don't like it as you don't and I got banned too, but at least they can't say that arn and the rest of the guys here don't have the superiority to allow them to come here and "express themselves" in excess.

Phobic, when you start getting irony you might then get my nickname too. Apple is a business but it's also a community, go to sony's or ms's site and see if yo can get 3200 replies in single forum about such an issue. We are here cause we like our brand, we like to talk about it, share our issues, find new staff, and be part of this community. In any case aren't YOU the guest here? Did I personally come to invite you, did anyone else do? At least when you are chez nous show some courtesy and some taste...oh wait...what was I thinking...;)

People are completely missing the point. This dude got a computer which outperforms the more expensive MacBook in every possible way for less money. It also has Firewire (something which I've seen paraded around on this forum as a must-have in a computer) unlike the MacBook.

He actually ended up with a computer which has performance comparable to the second level MacBook Pro for $1099. Apple will charge you $2499 for the same thing.

Now, is that aluminium body REALLY worth $1500 to you?

After being a participant in two of these threads, I'd expect you to know the answer to that. The Apple tax is the name, the design, and the OS. If any or all three are important to someone, then the Apple tax is worth it.

It's subjective.

Oh and his HP is roughly the same performance as my $2000 Thinkpad, both of which run Windows. Gee, I guess I wasted all that money on the Thinkpad. Oh well.

You shouldn't take this topic so seriously. Microsoft isn't going anywhere for a long time and neither is Apple. They're just computer and software companies. Nothing more. Not a cult. Not an ideal. Just two businesses trying to get your money into their pockets so their CEOs can eat well and live comfortably.

So, would you say that if OS X were the dominant PC OS, we wouldn't see a ton of malware and virii? I'd assume that hackers/crackers/script kiddies/whatever would probably go after what MOST people are using. I guarantee the more macs gain in popularity, the more we'll see the need for software to circumvent this.

In their two last versions they incorporated a search funtion available ages ago in macs and a dock (in 7) available since ages again in macs and touted them as advances. Really, this is nothing new. Companies have been "borrowing" and improving on competitors ideas for years. If you only think this relates to MS and Apple well I guess I have nothing more to tell ya.

Windows registry:Again of course this not a problem that's why registry fixers and cleaners are the no. 1 download for pcs and the forums abound with issues for the registry...

Source please.

As a person that uses and owns both Apple and MS products, I fail to understand why people take stuff like this so seriously. Please enlighten me if you can.

My favourite poster here, tallest skil, it's not irrelevant when they saddle the average user with an inferior product that they cant get rid of. Actually it's so RELEVANT that in the eu they got some billions of euros to pay, ms that is, judged against them in antimonopolies courts of law...so it's very relevant by all counts.

Easy as pie in Windows 7. You can uninstall IE8, Media Player, Windows Search, Media Center, DVD Maker and a few dozen other Windows components. Yes, even the media players. How easy is it to uninstall QuickTime from OSX? Thank you.
Thank you too anuba. Remind me where I can buy windows 7 from? Exactly. To have to revert to an os not even yet in the market to make an argument after decades of os'es released, where ms has finally conceeded for fear of paying up trillions of $$ for their monopoly tactics is really...welll...what can I say...

Windows 7 doesn't even exist, so please don't come with this kind of ********. As QT, it's a necessary framework for playing not only all kinds of media on the Mac, but allowing for other types of graphics handling by the OS...without any exclusion of other players and browsers. If you REALLY wanna continue posting here on MR, at least study the origins of QT and its importance for both Mac OS Classic and OS X. Otherwise, just **** and stick to Rob Enderle's MS-loving sites.

Trust me, your questions don't solve the problem of abusive practices by MS...you may talk to the DoJ and the EC on that before spitting out your MS-fanboy ignorance.

You didn't answer the question though. Yes, I suppose I'm a fanboy since I'm typing this on my macbook. Since you had to resort to petty name calling, I'd say you don't have an answer outside of talking to the DoJ.

Really? :D

Look I am not wikipedia here, I am not gonna write a 1000 diatribe for you as much as in all honesty I wish I could do that. You have your opinion, I respect that, but I am not gonna go the extra mile to conveince someone who just want to pretend they don't understand. Since you are like myself a ser of both products I am sure you know very well what i am talking about, very, very, very well...as to my chagrin I do to.

That's like saying Snow Leopard doesn't exist. I run them both. They're both better than their predecessors.

Good for you. But we are not talking about beta os'es. These people in the commercials are not buying 7, they are buying vista. Is this too hard for you to understand or do you want once more to be contrarian just for the sake of it.

Well I just wanted to see how you came up with such a claim as registry cleaners being the most downloaded software. I was just curious to see where you got your data. Nothing more.

Sorry to enlighten you, but one possible analogy could be as follows (and no, I am not gay):

"This is a gay club, we are all gays, and we all hate meeting women simply because we're not interested. Then you come to our party and start bringing lots of women to the place, and saying that gays are mentally disabled lowly creatures. Then we react and say: this is our club, and you're invading it, even though there are a thousand other 'normal' clubs for you to visit. Then you reply that we shouldn't be gays, or that this club sucks."

Now tell me: what gives you the right to criticize us for loving Macs in a Mac-loving club? If you don't like it or don't share such fondness for a superior brand, don't even come near here...go visit Windows SuperSite or other similar crap. And spare us from these empty criticisms.
