1) Most people don't buy a car every year
2) We aren't talking about cars

My logic would makes more sense if you knew the above. ;) and you'd know the above if you weren't a die hard apple enthusiast. Ice cream bars don't gain functionality either yet we buy more than one a year, most of us. But again, we aren't talking about ice cream either. I would suggest you learn a bit of logic before pretending to be an expert on the subject.

Who the hell buys an iPad every year???

Does a car get any additional functionality every new model year? It does the same thing...get you to and from a place. Only engines, look, bells and whistles get upgraded really.

You're logic is really really bad.

This is what irks me. These people are asking for what amounts to a brand new iPhone every year. What industry does that with their products? Usually new product cycles come every few years. In between are usually tweaks and refinements. With the iPhone, a user usually gets a two year carrier contract and theoretically should use the iPhone at least that long. So, why are these people always whining about Apple not making huge iPhone changes every year. In a way, that's cheating consumers who purchased the product to obsolete their purchase so quickly.

Even Samsung is going to run into that problem with the Galaxy S. I'm sure they're not going to make the Galaxy S5 that much different from the S4. It will likely be internal changes. A company would be hard pressed to recoup retooling costs every year. It's just not practical in a business sense. If something works well for a company then refine it for a few years. There's nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. I don't believe the average consumer has a problem with what Apple is doing with the iPhone. It's just these power-junkie users who are always complaining about how not enough changes are being made every year. I'm for a two year product cycle based on the carrier contract. For a person purchasing an unsubsidized smartphone then the new product cycle could be even longer. I'd say Apple is doing what most of the consumer industry is doing when it comes to new product cycles.

Good Luck, Microsoft, but no thanks! I'll keep my iPad until the next Nexus 10 is out and able :)

To do some work?
You cannot do real work on a RT. Possibly a Surface pro but you are better off getting a real laptop.

Even an iPad Retina has more connectivity and resolution than the RT. You can connect to remote servers via numerous protocols.

Does the Surface RT or Surface Pro even have LTE builtin? No?

Well put. I may not like some of the new features (read girly icons) but the iPhone is still the most functional for me. The upgrades are pretty substantial really. 64 bit and nearly double the processor speed is pretty impressive.

LOL Marketing genius /s, it's only a matter of time sinking of MS ship.

Free publicities for Apple keep coming!

More resolution = more work done?
No LTE = less work done?

Could you elaborate on how you can't get real work done on an RT?

Maybe if Microsoft wants to pry my iPad out of my cold, dead, hands ;)

Helping schools out.... who would do that?

Yeah.

The iPad can do just as much... as long as you spend more money to compensate for things that were left out.

64GB Surface Pro - $800
Touch Cover - $ 80

Total = $880

64GB iPad - $700
Logitech Keyboard Cover - $100

Total = $800

Who is spending more money?

"Use towards the purchase of a Surface or other cool products at the Microsoft store"

They appear to have accidentally leaked that they plan to start actually making cool products.
Now that Ballmer's anti-cool policy/influence is waning as he gets phased out.

...

You're comparing an iPad to a Surface Pro? Run Visual Studio on your iPad. Run full Photoshop on your iPad.

I could continue.

Edit: Or in other words: Regardless of how much you spend on an iPad you can do so much more on a Surface Pro.

Then buy an actual laptop. For less. Tablets are a different market with a different purpose, a fact that Microsoft does not understand.

:|

So when I bring up that the iPad is only as capable as an RT when you buy extra things, somebody brings up the fact that the Pro costs more. When I bring up that the Surface Pro is a fricken laptop, I get "buy a real laptop, it's cheaper".

I swear, the gymnastics of some people to defend their iPad is just amazing.

woow, I was at the Microsoft store looking at another thinkpad tablet 2 - they have them for 499 now with the Wacom... wonder if this would apply for that

It's not about what they are going to do with the ipads, it's about getting their products out to the market. I'd be willing to bet there are people out there who aren't thrilled that the iPad has gained absolutely zero additional functionality since the iPad 2. The functionality it gained over the original iPad were cameras.

Since it's for any product at the store... I would say so.

You have a Microsoft store near you?
