It's because Microsoft is the laughing stock of every Mac user. They can't laugh at Apple anymore, so we laugh at Microsoft for their own stupidity. Windows 8??? It's a joke!! Everything they are doing is a joke these days.

Hmm, lets see.... Trade in my iPad 2 for a surface RT? Nah, don't think so. However, if theyre interested I have an HP Touchpad that I'm looking to get rid of.
 
Nice try, Microsoft, we're not falling for it. We know we'd end up with no iPad and a Surface. Now who would want that.
 
the microsoft store, lol. are they serious? microsoft is as good at what they do as mr. barry is about what he does.

They're already trying this (earn free Surfaces by using BING!).

The functionality it gained over the original iPad were cameras.

You mean like on a laptop that you can use on your lap?
 
I am trying hard to make the rMBP my next laptop. The hardware on the PC side just keeps brining me in year after year. Windows 8 isn't bad from what I've used so far, and every application I use is available on PC.

Even if I went PC for my laptop then eventually replaced my iMac with a HP Z workstation, I'd NEVER get a Surface RT as my tablet.
 
What a deal ! I can trade in my retina iPad for a quarter of what it's worth and get a card to buy a Zune! Sign me right up!

I'm seriously considering it. I have a base model iPad 2 that's 2.5 years old that I plan to replace with a 5 this fall. If Apple can just release the iPad 5 before this offer expires....

Now, I don't actually care about having a Surface. I just need one for compatibility testing, and it seems the longer I put off getting one, the cheaper they get!

You do realize iOS doesn't have an accessible file system because that's how Steve Jobs wanted it. I only say that because these days every other comment here seems to be what Steve would/wouldn't have done.

Ice cream bars don't gain functionality either yet we buy more than one a year, most of us. But again, we aren't talking about ice cream either. Yeah.

The iPad can do just as much... as long as you spend more money to compensate for things that were left out.
