The true lie on his eyes you believe it? i can be actor for 1 hour too TO believe into my own PRODUCT that I sell

You should tell Phil Schiller and Tim Cook that they need better acting lessons then.

It should be noted that you sound really defensive on this thread. But your signature tells me why. You are invested emotionally and $$$ very heavily into Apple.

Absolutely. Some people on here seem to forget that we should all be consumers first. And what's best for us is having viable options in the marketplace.

Apple was parsing out minor updates in the early days of the iPhone. (Remember begging for things like landscape and MMS for iOS 3 after being told we didn't need it.) Then suddenly the competition started heating up in the smartphone industry and Apple dropped the iPhone 4 which was a Bob Beamon like leap in smartphone technology.

Even if you're a hardcore Apple fan, Microsoft making really good new products is going to push your beloved Apple into 'innovation' mode rather than giving minor tweaks all the time. Look at the latest iteration of the MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini and you see a company that's clearly coasting right now.

I like Apple stuff too - but if somebody else is making really good stuff, I'm going to take a look.

No, we should all put Apple's interest's above our own. Remember, Apple makes the most profit and that's all that consumers care about. :D

Anyone catch this from the presentation?

Panos acted like it was a joke played on him when he was trying to show the Surface Book performance/design. Might have been rehearsed, but funny for sure.

Edit: those who don't get the reference:
"You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but you know those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user." Tim Cook

You do realize this is exactly what people say about mac, right ?
"These are for rich kids who want to own Apple stuff," "Tool not toy", etc.
Let's talk about Retina macbook when they were released ? Damn close to $2000.
Hell, if people can buy a $1000 phone, they can get a $2000 computer that does much more.

So funny to see people using those arguments when Apple pretty much invented the genre.
Sorry but a 4 years Mac is still performing well even with the current OSX, battery is about 90% health, and the the price of resell is higher.
Brand value is the most important thing on this planet

Checking the thread and the double standards are interesting. Things Apple would get crucified for MS gets loved and circle jerked. I would think Win10 is the greatest OS ever to be made and we should just stop making OS's, ban every other OS and give em 100% marketshare. I will ignore all those issues I read about, and I read about many, many issues with it. It gets a free pass I guess because.... I don't know. The verge was right after-all "MS is ready to be loved again." So they're ready boys, lube them hands up.

Check your double standards though. Honestly, check them, think really hard and see those double standards right in your face. Used Windows 10 and I wasn't blown away by any means. Wasn't by Yosemite either so I am still on Mavericks. IMO screw both of the OS's and let's get something new. It's been time for another OS to take some spotlight. SteamOS, a pushed version of linux, whatever.

I guess the Xbox One issues with interface lag I had on now 3 systems was all in my head too. Those absolutely insane DRM polices never were attempted either.

IMO: All current OS's look like crap and are buggy cause they try to do too much. Even Windows. (Which apparently never has issues here... odd.) Flat, boring and too much dead space and too bright.

And screw this glue and non-upgradeable Ram and memory. Tech geeks stand for this now? Why doesn't the Surface book get flak for that? Oh because Windows OS is perfection, I missed the memo. I will get to it. AT&T exclusive phones? Don't see a peep about that either, maybe I missed it. If you're going to hate, be equal opportunity at least.

But how do you really feel? :D How have you been?

For me money isn't an issue i can go for other brand easy IF it will make sence. You are blinded because these devices are too fresh on your mind with a great actor on stage. Tim Cook doesn't need acting because it has an age where don't believe in his products anymore, He runs a company and thats all
These devices will sell the most to kids that's for sure

Yes, all those kids that can buy laptops starting at $1500

The hardware looks interesting. The only problem is that it runs the most privacy violating OS on the planet : windows 10. I didn't think someone could outdo Google , but MS did it.
If privacy and security were such big seeling points, BlackBerry would still be on top.

So does a 4 years old PC. ie, my VAIO S serie I bought in January 2012 (i'll grant it to you, only ALMOST 4 years). Even more since it has been upgraded on Windows 10. My friend still uses it everyday with no problem and do some casual gaming on it.
As for resale value, if that's so important just buy gold ingot.

Now if brand value is the thing you look for the most, we clearly don't have the same priorities, sorry. I look for usability, power, and convenience. Not the shiny logo behind it.

but hey you all can pre-order but i wonder how many know what exactly will preorder? what Gpu nvidia has in that Surface book?

But how do you really feel? :D How have you been?

Actually pretty good my friend. The double standards are quite weird though, just is strange to me. Since I gave it MS there I will take a shot at Apple since it's like 80% Apple hate on here. iPad Pro is a wretched device since it has no expandable memory and no USB-C, which is should have both. No one hardly said anything about that either in that thread. Waste of $$$ if you ask me, but whatever works for people.

I didn't realize how good Win10 was though. So many delusional people on the internet with complaints about it. Jerks. Win10 is perfection, I would turn gay for Satya? I think thats his name.

All of a sudden now you want windows pc laptops in this case to be priced at a premium? This is delusional - i'm gonna tell you now so you can come back and quote me these things will sell just like the SP3 but it will not be forcing any of those OEM manufacturers to stop doing what they do that is make cheap products that everyone is willing to buy at a cheap price.

Windows hardware in the ultrabook category has been selling at or above Apple prices for four years or more. get a clue

If Apple were to replace OS/X with iOS then that would be it for me and Apple computers.
No thanks.

By then, I'm sure whatever you can do on the Mac will be doable on iOS with the exception of some esoteric power user stuff.

Besides, I'm not sure you'll have many options since MS and Apple are headed on a collision course towards a new age OS that's optimized for both tablet and clamshell.

It's just that they're coming from a position of their respective strengths... MS is leveraging Windows and Apple is leveraging iOS.

Like many others, competition is a good thing. I for one, changing my opinion to a single integrated OS. The power of tablets and phones are now making this option viable. Interesting technology times we live in, hopefully we enjoy the ride.

So now you're an Apple luvin' MS hater? :D

I have been using macosx for the last couple weeks and I am not sure what everyone is praising it about. It is much slower than using Windows 10 and the App Store is a joke when compared to Windows. The windows store has lots of good apps but the Apple Store is mostly junk. The only good thing I can say is that Safari is good and it syncs with the iPhone but other than that I think Windows 10 is a much better OS with much better performance.

I'm really happy to see the Microsoft innovating and moving forward. The Ballmer hears were horrible. Apple needs competition and Microsoft is stepping up their game. In the last 12 months, think how far they've come from say the last 5 years. I hope their Lumina phones get some traction to keep the innovation in the market going.

I'll confess that I am intrigued by the Surface Book, although the name is a little weak. I've thought for a long time that Apple should make an Air that lets you yank the display off and have it function like an iPad. Not sure how the use case would work out, but its definitely intriguing. Also, the idea that their Nokia phones can function as a laptop when docked... didn't Verizon try something like that a while back?

I love my Apple products, but live in a corporate world where I have to use Windows too. Competition is the best thing that can happen to keep the products getting better and better.

Hmm anyone know the bottom end i5 Pro 4 UK price? Wonder how much more then the Surface 3 is at £499?

Stunning hardware, better then Apples laptops if that's what you want of course, does Windows 10 fix the high Dpi issue? Hmm one of these and a Mac Pro is haven to me.

With all the flaws after iOS 9 and El Capitan, I can't really see that is a bad thing. Nothing works probaly after the last updates. And I have brand new Mac Hardware
Completely disagree. Yosemite had tons of bugs, but el captain is rock solid. iOS has been solid post-iOS 7.

Disagree in this sense--the convergence will likely never meet in a way that will satisfy consumers. Yes--windows will become more appliance like--but never to the degree of the ipad. Also, windows store will never amount to much relative to ios/apple apps store. On the other hand--ios pro apps will improve but will never really compete with x64 flagship applications like toon boom and photoshop. So while products improve--everyone will remain disatisfied!

I think it all hinges on the success of the iPad Pro. If it takes off, and developers support it with higher end applications like Photoshop et al. (which it's capable of supporting to some degree, given its hardware), I believe we'll see that happy medium take place. MS will continually refine their touch based UI, while Apple expands upon the power and flexibility of iOS, and we'll eventually end up with two very similar products.

But if it doesn't, then...well, we'll see.

If Microsoft just focused on what they do best, Office and Xbox, then those products would be even better. That's just on the consumer side, I know they do well in enterprise as well, so perhaps their cloud and development platform would too get even better.

wow really thats terrible

Eh, I don't think it's that big of a knock against it. The Book is more a convertible laptop you can occasionally use as a pure tablet than an actual standalone tablet like the SP4. It's, er...tabletness is more a bonus feature than a selling point.

edit: though really, I'm not all that stoked about the Surface Book. It's nice, but...eh. I like the actual Surface better.
