Is the new Surface Pro faster than the A9 or A9X?

at what? it's hard to compare ARM processors which run mobile operating systems, to a full desktop-class hardware.

so synthetic benchmarks are meaningless here.

The Lumia 950 looks really nice (as does the Surface Pro 4). Shame about the hinge on the Surface Book. Looks alright otherwise.

The hinge looks ... Weird? But a very cool device. Nice to see the competition come up with great hardware. Maybe Apple then will start working again and be innovative.

I've had 2 iPad Air 2's, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and now iPhone 6S - all with pixel issues :-/

Competition is important. This is great.

Absolutely. Some people on here seem to forget that we should all be consumers first. And what's best for us is having viable options in the marketplace.

Apple was parsing out minor updates in the early days of the iPhone. (Remember begging for things like landscape and MMS for iOS 3 after being told we didn't need it.) Then suddenly the competition started heating up in the smartphone industry and Apple dropped the iPhone 4 which was a Bob Beamon like leap in smartphone technology.

Even if you're a hardcore Apple fan, Microsoft making really good new products is going to push your beloved Apple into 'innovation' mode rather than giving minor tweaks all the time. Look at the latest iteration of the MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini and you see a company that's clearly coasting right now.

I like Apple stuff too - but if somebody else is making really good stuff, I'm going to take a look.

6 months with surface pro3, I have zero trust for any Microsoft hardware. They just don't know how to do it right. They are so "Lazy". By lazy, I mean they didn't test it enough. The production has tons of issues left to end users. Surfacw pro3 is really really a bad notebook. It is also a terrible tablet. Today, I only use it by connecting it to big screen and big keyboard. It is an awful awful device to use.

To each his own. I've had one for about 8 months now. Love it.

I'm a complete Mac person, but I have to give a well deserved "Bravo!" to MS for all this. I work in a total MS/Linux company and it's hard, constant work being a minority Mac user because, frankly, Apple's robustness in corporate environments (networking, Exchange compatibility etc.) just isn't good enough. I find MS's new products quite tempting indeed...

I for one think Microsoft did fantastic! Awesome! Can't wait for the iPad Pro to come out so they can compare the iPad Pro to the Surface... I'm particularly interested in how the Apple Pencil takes on the Surface Pen.

I'd get a Surface over an iPad any day. iOS is too restricted for tablets.
Take note, Apple: Mobile GPUs are a good thing! If they can put them in a Surface, you can put them in a lower end MacBook or Mini. Integrated graphics are sh*t.

Heh, I don't hate the idea of the Surface for a graphics artist tablet, but I don't like it at all as a general purpose tablet. I like the simplicity and bulletproof nature of iOS and don't want the mess that is Windows all up in my tablet usage... Otherwise I'd want to use a laptop.

I'd like to have also 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD in my 12" MacBook.

I'd like to have display my data and files with iOS App version if it's in Tablet mode and with the OS X App version, if a Keyboard and ext. Touchpad is connected. This can't be so much complicated, you have the API's and Frameworks.

The world isn't black and white with separate devices for black and white. With 1TB I don't need any Cloud sync between my MacBook and iPad.

That surface book is amazing. Microsoft really capturing the excitement. Hope Apple hits back!

I'm in the market for a new laptop. My 2010MBP has to give out sometime... right?

I'll give credit where credit is due, their hardware has been great, and I love my surface Pro. However, Windows itself, not so much.

Brilliant post.
