Don't worry Apple will copy the detachable screen, how do I know this? Look at the Apple Pencil for iPad, something Jobs said would never happen. Tim Cook calibrating with Microsoft and see where that got him, a FridgeToaster tweet.
Sigh. You do know Apple has patents on a smart pencil/pen going back to 2008? Steve Jobs wasn't talking about a pencil/pen for creatives he was talking about stylus that were basically required to navigate the OS with resistive screens and super small touch targets like Plam devices or Windows Tablet PCs.

It looks good but wait until the real world experience. I am still not buying it, I have already had my eyes set on iPad Pro and its 'under-appreciated' pencil.

The ONLY Improvement in W10 is in the amount of your data it slurps back to the MS Mothership.
IMHO they are trying to become another Google.
If you want literally everything you do to be known to Microsoft (and by implication the various TLA's) then go ahead and get one.
The only improvement?!

If all else fails, turn to the tin foil hat brigade argument.

MS claims Surface Book is more powerful than MacBook Pro which maybe true until next generation processors are introduced in an upgraded MacBook Pro.
so what you re saying is that at this moment in time, a surface laptop is more powerful than a mac pro, cheers for clearing that up..

It's delivering just as much Microsoft is light years ahead of Apple hyperbole. If Apple developed a laptop with s hinge like that the mockery here would be massive.

Anything Apple created will be mocked and pooh pooh here, it's like an unloved son in the family, doesn't matter how good he acts.

I'm not really a Windows fan but wow Microsoft released some great products there.
The iPad "Pro" doesn't seem so Pro now. Bigger iPad with a pencil, still dependant upon iTunes in a lot of ways. Microsoft seems more innovative, TBH.

Curious, what are the "lots of ways" the iPad Pro is dependent on iTunes? For me iTunes is just an added convenience because I can download and restore multiple device updates over USB without having them each download it... But that's about.

I don't think it will be an issue here. The main processing and computing tech is behind the screen on the SurfaceBook. If they offload the GPU to the keyboard deck it would have plenty of cooling not having to deal with the heat of the processor in a tight space.

The Macbook Pro isn't really thermally limited... it's power limited. The GPU/CPU combos Apple has used the last two generations want more than the 85 watt power supply can deliver under full load, so they throttle back.

Interesting, Is there documentation on this? I was aware that in previous versions that when you had the battery removed it would throttle back due to the power supply not providing sufficient power, But, wasn't aware the current design had this as a shortfall.

I do notice a throttling on my 2015 discrete graphics MBP when the temps get higher, and attributed it to being heat related . That said, it could also be throttling back when it taps out it's power brick. Now you have me wanting to plug this into a meter to see how many amps it's pulling when this occurs.

I have to admit the Lumias look good. There are some nice features coming with them too. I've always said if Apple stopped making a phone I liked I would go MS, that still holds true with these.

I also noticed that in one image with the Surface Book and a MacBook Pro alongside each other, the MacBook Pro had the Mavericks Wallpaper, indicating older hardware. Could explain some of their claims.

People criticising Windows never really tried Windows 10 at full performance.

I have my MacBook Pro 2010 SSD with El Capitan + Windows 10 in Bootcamp and I find out that Windows 10 is much faster and much more stable than OS X... I only criticise the amount of battery Windows comsumes.

i've tried it..have it. i wouldn't say it is more stable than os x. it is much better than windows 8. it is much smoother than windows 7. more stable? my os-x is fairly stable.

We're on an apple site, so a lot of people knock windows because its not from apple. I use windows for work and I own both a MBP and a SP3. I have to say windows 10 is a solid OS.

Does anyone know why there are so few windows phone on Verizon? Just thought I would ask.
Mostly because VZW doesn't want to deal with them. Low sales volume, they'd rather make room for other products that sell more.

Great, so I'll buy a phone with "facial recognition" so someone can print off my Facebook profile picture and get into my phone.

MS' new facial recognition software requires a 3D sensing camera to use, since it accounts for depth as well as features. Someone would have to make a decent bust of your head to get into your phone..

I have to say, this event today - I had no idea Microsoft had it in them. This is the first event where Microsoft was displaying passion across the board. They seemed to be on fire. This was a very impressive event for them, and if you look at the gadget blogs / sites - people are blown away by this. The proof will be in the pudding, but you have to admit - from where they were two years ago, this is a different company. People are actually rooting for them. Surface as a brand seems to have hit a tipping point, where it is actually loved and not ridiculed. That's a big deal from where they were a joke. Not many brands have turned around like that. It's almost unprecedented.

Their new CEO however... the less time he speaks the better. It sounds like he's making good decisions, but he uses corporate speak with marketing jargon that just doesn't make much sense in these presentations.
