Gee, maybe because Apple is the one touting the iPad Pro as a PC replacement. If Apple can't take the heat, they should stop stop acting like the iPad Pro is can compete with Intel powered PCs.

'Bout time Microsoft update this thing.

Who said Apple can't take the heat?

If PCs are like trucks, and iPads are like cars, then Apple's argument can be that most people really don't need a large truck for day to day driving, and that a car would be fine. Sure, a larger engine in a truck will likely produce more power than a smaller efficient engine in a car, but that doesn't mean a car can't compete with a truck when it comes to needs for most people with day to day tasks.

Is this marketing spin for saying the new camera is crap? "I love my photos nice and soft!"

It's weirdly worded. From what I read elsewhere, I believe they mean the front camera is more camouflaged within the black bezel of the screen.... the way the lens on the front of a black iPhone looks almost black. It's pretty visible on the SP4.

Really surprised the Microsoft's pen improvements weren't in the article. 4096 levels of pressure, finally tilt-capable, and 21ms of lag compared to 49ms for the Apple Pencil. It seemed to be the area MS was most taking aim at Apple today.

They even made the pen longer and more slim... closer to the Pencil. And ditched the pen clip, which was my favorite thing about the MS Pen (it clips onto the keyboard perfectly).

As a fanboy of both Apple and Microsoft... either I'm getting too old or these small refinements are getting boring. Don't see myself upgrading Surface or iPhone this year.

But runs messy Windows 10, the only OS in the world with two different Settings apps.
Really, this is getting OLD. Really OLD. Who spends their entire time in the SETTINGS apps when doing work on a PC or APPLE device. Windows 10 is very stable and works great. I am sorry that your hang up is that there are multiple places for SETTINGS. WOW....

Not that innovative or a significant update when Samsung's latest S pen has those features and its included in the box with Galaxy book 12 and 10...samsung includes the Keyboard too...full package so I probably would recommend the galaxy book over the surface pro
For a non-EMR pen, it's innovation. As well, the multi protocol support (assuming it's been implemented), means it will work with Wacom's AES or Microsoft's MPP.

An Intel Core i7 which requires a fan to keep cool is only 1.7x faster than a 2 year old A9X ARM CPU? Doesn't sound too impressive.

That's what I was thinking. It seems like a weird comparison to make and certainly makes Apple's own chip design seem that much more impressive. The A11/A11X should be interesting.

Eh. I had a Pro 3 and Pro 4. I couldn't stand using it in bed at night because it kept falling over. I much prefer the traditional laptop. I can't imagine myself going back to Windows or Android.

Windows 10 is actually pretty nice. It's good to see somebody is still innovating.

Windows 10 blows from a troubleshooting perspective. No option to disable specific updates which fail. Updates take ages to download and then preparing takes even longer. Can't boot into Safe Mode unless you can boot into the OS; and who would want to boot into Safe Mode if the OS boots normally?! Some real stupid decisions.

SoftwareDistribution folder needing to be emptied & Win Update service needing to be restarted just to apply the AE update or Creators update; or even any update if it keeps failing. Disk usage from "Tips and tricks" going through the roof. Default bandwidth sharing for updates and all that delicious data mining enabled too.

And the legacy bugs are just excessive. Every stupid bug that exists in Windows 7 or Windows 8 seems to be amplified in Windows 10. Still has the two nameless folders on the desktop when you're going between versions of Office. Still indefinitely loads Devices & Printers if you've got a Bluetooth issue. Windows Explorer crashing and restarting with folders (a lovely unique one for W10, issue somewhere isolated to something in AppData). The list just goes on and on and on.

sfc /scannow might as well be called sfc /wasteyourtime. DISM repair is a joke and the troubleshooting options on a failed startup are worse than useless.

It's okay when it works, but a nightmare when it doesn't and it's ever-more-frequently impossible to isolate exactly what's causing the problem. I'll stick with macOS, iOS, or even Windows 8.1, because I can't think of anything less rewarding to do with my time than troubleshooting widespread issues Microsoft haven't bothered fixing. It's a barely usable OS in my eyes.

And what exactly will a new and faster processor contribute to iPad pro? Let's be honest, Ipads are only good for playing Angry birds, watching Youtube, and occasionally drawing dickbuts with the Apple pen. Ipad pro, in comparison to Surface pro, is a joke. Almost dark humor kind of joke.

I have been iPad only for years. (iPad 4) I remember a time in the 90's when PowerBooks were a joke. Watch Job's keynote when he unveils the iMac Rev A. He talks about the underpowered power ace and how people wanted to use photoshop on it. Also it's a great drawing device. Steve Conoley's "The Muddle Age" was completely done on the iPad and is up for an Eisner Award. Just because YOU can't use the iPad to its full potential don't think anyone else can.

So, minimum acceptable configuration (256 GB SSD / i5 / 8 GB RAM) is $1299. Add keyboard ($159) and you're pretty much at non-Touch Bar MBP 13's $1500 (not to mention you can get Touch Bar version for around $1550 on sale sometimes).

"Starts at 799" is very misleading. Minimum viable configuration is $1460.

If only they made one I could load OSX onto.
It's been done. Albeit, not that well.

The iPad can't even use its own full potential......:rolleyes:

Just curious. How many folks, who's response is that it's running windows 10, have spent more than a week or two actually using the new surface products?

The reason why I own an iPhone, is because it just works. The reason why I own a surface book with windows 10, is because it just works.

To everyone saying "Too bad it runs windows." Do yourself a favor and give windows 10 a chance. I've found I can get done 5-15% more work done using windows 10 computers compared to a Mac. For reference, I do standard office related tasks: HTML applications, office suite, SQL, data analysis, google suite, mac rumor forums, etc.
