They're not completely wrong tho. Ryzen AI 3xx chips are phenomenal, both in terms of CPU and GPU.

Which means that Microsoft has made a bet on the wrong horse again, with underwhelming Qualcomm chips and the very unpolished Windows on ARM.
The new AMD chips are amazing, but I guess what matters more to normal users is single core performance for all that web stuff.

Then you may be doing something incorrectly. In the two years I have owned a Mac I have done six OS updates that I can remember. I have done six OS updates on my W11 machine. I have not had one driver issue on either system. On my wife’s computer running W10 I have done two OS updates in two years. No driver issues.
Must admit I haven't had a driver issue with Windows in years. Still bloody awful though. Having to use it at work is a real pain.

We are that crossroads once again, Apple, Qualcomm and AMD have all come as close in terms of most criteria including cost, performance and battery life. The question is, is which one diverges up or down from here. Who becomes most complacent? Who places the wrong bet?

Windows still has the largest user base by far, and x86 on desktop still holds a strong yet tenuous lead.
Everything points to ARM at the moment, but if we tare the scale at this moment in time, we come to as close to all being equal as we ever have.
Who has the crystal ball to see where the future heads from here. My only guess would be one without Intel.

We already know Intel completely blew their monopoly. ( i have no idea how incompetent you have to be for that), and we still have to see how bad the outcome will be from Apple blowing it in terms of Nuvia, servers and AI.

Hey, Microsoft. Wanna tell me more about what the hell was that back to back forced restart update with a blue screen of death in between for my work laptop's Windows 11? 🤣

Still bloody awful though. Having to use it at work is a real pain.
I find that both platforms have their issues. Neither is superior in my opinion.

I use software from DXO, the NIK collection. That software will no longer activate on the Mac for whatever reason. To get it working I will be forced to pay $160. Not so on Windows. That software still works. Parallels 19 quit working with the release of the M5. Parallels costs more to work on the M5 Pro than on the M5. I have software that is 15 years old that still works with Windows 10 and 11.

Microsoft’s legacy support is far superior to Apple. Apple is superior in other areas. As a whole, neither vaults over the other.

This year's hardware may be fast(er than last year's hardware), but the software is still slow as hell. Example, taking a screenshot:
- macOS: Press Cmd + Shift + 4. The mouse pointer instantly turns into crosshairs with the x & y position. Click and drag, screenshot taken, saved to Desktop.
- Windows 11: Press Windows + Shift + S. The mouse pointer takes about two seconds to change to crosshairs. Click and drag, screenshot taken, saved to Pictures > Screenshots, then two seconds later Windows makes a 'boop' noise to tell you it's taken a screenshot.

I suspect that Apple is hella more profitable.

You don't have to suspect, they are both public companies and you can find that information online. The actual numbers might surprise you.

Sure MS dominates in the market for selling OSs, but Apple is not in the market for selling OSs.

Selling operating systems is not Microsoft's primary business; it has not been for a while.

Honestly, if you have a decent up-to-date computer built in the last 5 years you’re probably happy with the speed. I’m still on M1 on my Mac and an older 5,000 series AMD CPU and am perfectly happy with both. Unless you’re pushing boundaries with modern games, media, or scientific data crunching the 4 year old computer you have is probably working great.

A 3 Stars Micheline products restaurant, with philosophical approach of creating and spread the best ecosystem and take full responsibility from A-Z on the integration in it, priced like burger king.
I agree with you that Apple has a nice ecosystem and their hardware integrate nicely. It is the best? That depends. If we are talking about enterprise, MS ecosystem is miles ahead of Apple.

MS also have a better ecosystem in gaming.

IMO, there is no perfect ecosystem. Apple excels in certain areas, while Microsoft has its own strengths. It all depends on what you need.

Full disclosure - Long time Windows developer.

Microsoft, oh Microsoft, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways:

- All the constant nagging to turn something on or buy something - neither of which I want.
- Advertising "Pro" features that get rid of annoying "Home" features and then letting the annoying crap through anyway.
- The CONSTANT BARRAGE of updates. ...and making them MANDATORY.
- The power consumption. You're faster, but only when you pay a fortune - but so is a Bugatti that, when going all out, goes through its car tank in just a few minutes. My electric company would love you - some executive would put their kid through college on the power you need
- All the bleeping advertising.
- The Blue Screen of Death. 35 years on and it's still there. Oh, you changed the color? Woo ***** Hoo...
- Deprecating VB.NET.
- Forcing me to "Teams" which is a DOWNGRADE from what I had.
- Hardware that constantly wears out too soon - and the difficulty for ordinary folks to diagnose it. When I retire, I can make money as a PC Triage Expert.

I could go on and on - but these are just a few of the reason why, at home, I use a Mac almost exclusively.

They have somehow managed to duplicate one of Apple's worst features -- temporal dithering. Microsoft screens are unusable for me.

Yea, faster than a mac to :

- Invade your privacy
- Monetize your personal info
- BSODing

I don’t think these ads are going to move anymore machines than are already selling. The whole copilot PC marketing nonsense is dead on arrival.

One thing some windows pc's do is the super fast boot up! But man the new battery life on the apple silicon can't be beat, even running parallels!!!!
