That thing is sooooo beautiful. I'm a little tired of my iMac's that have been looking the same for almost since 2007 - Yes yes - they made it thinner... But really ? 10 years of the same? Boooring :)

Don't get me wrong. The iMac is beautiful. But coming. Something new pleeease. And not a useless touchbar.

The bigger joke tends to be people who think they are so far apart. If only they tried both.... and not for like a few hours so they can complain about parts they did not understand cause it was not OS X . Keep the dream alive....

I have XP, W7 and W10 on my 2015 13" rMBP in Parallels with Norton 3.0

I am sentimental about XP and do quite like W7, not keen on W10 at all.
macOS forever.

Are we all Graphics artists now? Even if we are Apple makes the iPad Pro for drawing, because its a 'pad' and you tend to draw on pads.

It would still make sense to me, I can be creative in windows and do my day to day stuff in OS X .

I just think it's a great concept, and since I have no issues with windows it's actually a great machine, and good value if I think how much I paid for my MacBook Pro 2016.

True, and I have built several dual boots that work just fine. In fact, I was able with one machine to hack it to run MacOS and then run Parallels inside with Windows. So, it was a PC running MacOS emulating a PC running Windows.

If you were using the Mac for basic activities, it might be sufficient to run MacOS in a VM to save the constant rebooting.

When I start thinking about the price, I think about the past 10 years with my personally owned Macs.

In the past 10 years and 1 month I have:
Never had to troubleshoot my Mac with a Windows computer
Never had to worry about drivers
Never had an issue with my Mac that I didn't create through unconventional use
Never had any performance issues that forced me to buy a new Mac
Never had to restore a system from a time machine backup except for my latest iMac (late-2012) when I switched from music production to development
Never had any regrets about the Mac I purchased

In this same time frame, I have gone through 4 different Windows computers but not from a problem caused by my own hand.

2 computers were set up for web browsing and small games (kids played minecraft on them) (lasted 2 years)
1 computer was a dev box for Windows and Linux (which boosted performance on the laptop) (lasted 3 years)
1 is a more recent gaming desktop that I purchased last year.

In the most recent gaming computer that I've owned for approximately 11 months I have:
Had to troubleshoot drivers
Performed 3 system restores
Had to troubleshoot RAM
Had to troubleshoot networking (many times)
Still troubleshooting why my mouse is not getting recognized until I unplug it and plug it back in about 6 times in different ports.
Had to troubleshoot display issues. (MSI 980Ti Seahawk)
Had to troubleshoot .net redists.
had to troubleshoot older software designed for Windows 7 (currently Windows 10)
Had to troubleshoot the motherboard.

What I haven't had to troubleshoot using my PC was my Mac. Microsoft can keep their crap, their bloatware preinstalls, and their $200 subsidized operating system and subscription based Office models. I'll hang on to my one time purchase with everything else given free.

I've killed 2 MacBook pros doing performance intensive work,
I've had most of my iMac replaced,
My Mac Pro BT is useless,
I have issues connecting legacy drives to my Mac,
I've had so many wifi issues it's its kinda ironic....especially on my 2012 MacBook Pro,
I get spinny beach balls,
I have to reboot my machine at times, I go through issues everytime a new macOS release goes out,
the drivers never get updated and windows version far outperforms the Mac on the same machine

But that's part of owning computers, still love macs.....

Etc etc...

, I have similar issues with PC . I pay about the same for my PCs are I do macs.....

my gaming PC was £3000 and it's been faultless....sometimes you get what you pay for....the clue is in the Mac price and the price of PC computers people compare against

Though im happy you have never experienced any issues in 10 years with macs..... guess we do different things.

I've had a great case study of owning one MacBook Pro and pushing the CPU/GPU intensively ....it died...... and another that was babied....the babied one is still in fanstatic shape and works great....I can do the same with a PC and claim PCs are great....

Just saying...

Forgetting OS for a minute.

Have MicroSoft welded the SSD and RAM to the logic board on the Surface Studio?!

Considering that 99% of the population does not draw (I include myself, even though I wish I could), I don't understand the fuss around this product.

It's not aimed at the 99%

Just like the iPad Pro....

Apple should hire you as there pre launch tester for all apple product range, better than torture test. :)

Windows 10 verses macOS you are kidding me.
10 years ago MacOS was 20 x better than Windows.
Today MacOS is 1% better than Windows. I'm not going to give up features, power, RAM, and spend extra... for 1%

Windows in 2 years?..... are you sure they can't catch them? Apple only cares about IOS and WatchBands, and MS for the first time seems to actually want to innovate. And MS can use ALL of it's considerable R&D for actual client and server OS. No cars, headphones, Dre or Kanye to worry about in Redmond. MS servers ONE master.... computers. Apple clearly HATES computers and can't wait to exit the business. How can they win when they aren't even trying?

I'd have to agree with you in this department. My first gaming PC was a $1800 pre-built Dell XPS 600 and it still works to this day, ten years later. Never had a problem with it. Have just upgraded the RAM and graphics card.

OK, but at least they are making something that seems innovative in a form factor other than a phone. That seems a bit Applesque (of old). Whether they sell 3 or 300K of these, the uncomfortableness within this thread- IMO- seems to be revolving around "Where's Apple on advances like this?" and not "I bet Apple sells more rMBP units than this thing."

Is it really that innovative? I don't see it myself. Kudos to MS for having a very high quality pressure sensitive touch screen at that size, but that's about all there is to get excited about. MS has actually gimped the ability for this to be used by professional artists since the screen is permanently attached to computer hardware that sits in a separate box. It can't be rotated. It's not as flexible for angle or positioning as a drawing screen attached to a swing arm. I think MS chose the drafting table style limitation simply because they didn't really know how to efficiently get the computer hardware inside the screen itself, or simply didn't want users to be able to attach the screen to a non-Windows computer.

Compare that to the iPad Pro, where Apple innovated by NOT using a pressure sensitive screen. Instead, they combined customized hardware in the Apple Pencil + customized hardware inside the tablet itself to create a drawing experience that is superior (and likely cheaper/lighter) than using a pressure sensitive screen.

Although I have a soft spot for Steve Balmer especially his dance routine / punching the air etc I think MS are better off now with the very 'grounded' Satya Nadella.

Sir Bill Gates, well I like him as well, fasinating worldwide icon.

Gross. This is hideous. I don't want my large-screen desktop to have finger smudges and be at such a ridiculous viewing angle. Touch screen pcs are useless (except for artists and construction workers with blueprints).

Says touch screen PCs are useless...then gives examples of people who would find it really useful.
You do realize that majority of artists use Apple products right?

Gross/Hideous? I understand everyone here hates Microsoft, but come on.

People tend to complain about it running Windows, but the truth of the matter is, 90% of the time you're actually USING a program...not tooling around in the OS. Photoshop looks and runs like Photoshop regardless of the OS.

I REALLY wish apple would make something like this. I don't want to make the jump to Windows by any means...but COME ON APPLE!

Never ever have i thought Microsoft would go in this direction, Surface Studio, Surface Book, all products i find quite interesting. I'm not quite ready to go to Win, but who knows what happens in few years if they continue to go this road.

I have both W10 and Sierra I find W10 very depressing.
Maybe I need someone to sit down and sell me on it. Is there a youtube video with the WOW factor you recommend? (I do however think I'm a lost cause).
