Yes, which would mean that there would be other positions to choose from. Options.

Again, because you seem to be having difficulty reading : the problem is that it would be an option at all, much less the default one.

No Bing at all is the only valid choice.

Anti-consumer?

Let's look here.
The Google chairman sits on the Apple board of directors for 3 years. All the while stealing ideas from Apple.
The Google chairman leaves and starts to make a LOT of various software/hardware that poaches on Apple's IP.
THAT! is anti-consumer.

A company that steals ideas ( Microsoft AND Google ) is NOT consumer friendly.

Wait what ? which Apple IP has google poached exactly ? Which patents/copyright/trademarks have they infringed ? None at all. Android existed before the Google CEO left Apple's board.

Have you taken a look at your front door through Google maps recently ?
Had a look at people walking down streets lately?

Google is not only anti-consumer they are also infringing on privacy.

Privacy ? What kind of expectation of privacy can you have when you leave your house ? And no, I haven't looked through my front door on Google maps because my front door is not translucent. Otherwise, whatever is in my house wouldn't be private anymore.

Seriously, public streets are public for a reason. Look up what privacy actually means. Hint : Anything you put on Facebook ain't private no more.

You should read more. I didn't say "look through your door". I said "had a look AT your door".

And. Yes. I know Facebook is that way. That's why I don't have a facebook account.

And the Google android stuff was indeed while Schmidt was on the board. That makes it even worse. And by the way. The reason he left.

You should read more. I didn't say "look through your door". I said "had a look AT your door".

And... what kind of privacy expection does my door have ? It's seen by hundreds of people everyday seeing how I live on a street with a lot of traffic.

I seriously don't get your "Privacy in public places" argument.

That's ridiculous.

Some people like Bing and would like to have it as a choice on their iPhone.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should cease to exist altogether. If you don't like it, don't use it.

I hope this doesn't happen. I hate Bing and Microsoft! :(

I have been saying for quite a while now though that Google is the new Microsoft but free! A lot of people challenged my assessment, but if you really look into the facts and the history, there are a scary amount of parallels!

I just hope this doesn't turn into a huge rivalry.

go for it. i always wanted :apple: and Microsoft to make up. they could be great partners

Um, just out of curiosity, WHAT do you think they could GREATLY partner in???

Well, for many years MS and Apple have produced software for each other's platforms, while being sworn enemies. So I hardly see why Apple has to shun Google altogether just because of Android. It's not like they're a real threat.

Yes, which would mean that there would be other positions to choose from. Options.

Tell that to the millions of "ordinary", non-IT-savvy users who have no idea where to change the default setting...this is just one of the ways MS got an illegal monopolistic hold in the market anyway.

AGAIN: BING AS OPTION? YES. BING AS DEFAULT? NO. And I mean this for both the iPhone and the desktop versions of Safari.

If they don't know how to change it, that's their problem.

There is a "Help" section in the Safari Menu on the Mac (or they can Google/Bing/Yahoo! their question, and on the iPhone, if you tap the Settings App, the Safari settings is right there when you scroll down 1/2 an inch.

To someone like you, who knows that they can change the default search engine to something else, why should it matter if they make it the default or if it is just one of the options? You're not going to use it anyway....

Actually google is a real threat to Apples iPhone OS! Just wait how many Android devices will be introduced to market in this following year.

Obviously Apple generates all its Impact with one Phone, made by one Company only (different generations of phones but until now one really), but in the end it will by Andriod leading the MArket in terms of mobile OSes. Apple will not be able to lead with only one Phone on Hand. Still they will dominate in Terms of revenue!

As for the BING matter. It would be totally stupid moving away from google, since most people like it and find it easy to use, but i do understand that at least a choice should be given. After all google is STASI (if u know what that is) like Power.

haha nice.

PS...one reason I use Bing some times...look how much information about a company they provide you on the first search.

...yeah its really terrible people...really terrible.

Apple - give the user a choice of whatever search engine they wish to use.

Its not difficult!!

Regarding Safari: gives you a choice of 2 search engines, but yet, Firefox, any you want! Why can't Apple do the same as Firefox?

Holy crap - soon Apple will be dictating what toilet roll its users should use!

Seriously, you hate Apple, you hate Apple products, you're one of the most negative posters, why are you here? I mean, other than to be a troll?

If you've nothing to add to any conversation but vitriol, why don't you just step the eff off, seriously. Go find some peecee forum where you can join some wanks in Apple bashing over trivial stuff. You don't belong here, never have, never will.

OT: I'd probably consider a Nexus if they did this, but I already use Firefox so that's fine I guess.

You would switch a whole new device for THIS reason?

not for the multitude of other reasons Android provides you.

But rather because you don't want to use Bing?

WOW.

This forum sometimes.

EDIT: Unless i'm reading your post wrong...then I apologize...but I hope thats the case.
