I tend to believe these were real people and not actors since they sounded pretty dumb.

I'm just concerned for them when they go to buy Vista. For some reason I don't think they'll remember whether Vista or Mojave was the real name of the product. And I think they'll be cursing Mojave/Vista when it comes to installing and they find the tech support agents aren't as helpful as their Mojave handlers.

This just makes me giggle. All that it shows is how great Apple is at swaying the public. Yes, Vista isn't as bad as people say it is, but it certainly is not as good as OSX. Some, if not all of those videos were scripted.

Nice idea but shockingly executed.

I'm a tech savy user, I know xp and osx pretty much inside out. I can do everything "about" the same speed on both of them but OSX is a more enjoyable experience that leads to more productivity and not jumping on WoW to get away from the OS :p

Vista? It took me near on 2 hours to scan 6 A4 sheets, Save them, Print them.

That doesn't take into account installing the drivers for the hardware ( a ball ache ) and the generally clumsiness of the OS not through running slow but being shockingly designed. The most simple things take at LEAST twice as long as XP or OSX. It's ugly and the usual third party plagues that come with PC's bought in stores.

But Vista also demand a lot from the mashine to run it. And then next to that you need to have resources to run you program/game that you want to run.

That doesn't even make any sense, what do you mean by that? extra HDD space or what? Which OS doesn't require resources "next to OS itself" to run other apps?
Couple notes after watching some more of them:

Microsoft notes the 'Experiment user breakdown' on the bottom of this page that:

View attachment 127013

= 121%.

Time to understand there are people using more than one OSes. I guess "one, or the other mentality" is still quite strong then...

Please dont say your now trying to say 512MB of ram was able to run vista...

LOL. I guess you didn't see my note? I updated to 1G, Vista CAN run on 512RAM, but not good at all! I trying to say anything? only when I said it. Otherwise, no need to guess.

Somebody previously claim Tiger can run on 129MB, and "smooth" on 256MB....

Anyway. To claim Vista needs much more RAM than leopard to run similar app(s), I do not agree. I understand there are difficulties to come up with reliable tests, thus I would just advise people to try for themselves. Which is precisely what the OP ads was all about.

The Mac adds are offensive as in, "Macs are better than PCs."

Microsoft adds are defensive as in, "Vista is not so bad."

Apple would win this debate.

LMAO!! well that was desperate !!

haha some good actors there, wonder what the "amazing" features shown were - probably a word document containing their lines

cos the reality is that vista is a messy, buggy, piece of crap

So they're willing to change their opinions after using it for maybe 5 min? I'm sorry, but you can't make a good assessment of an OS until you've actually put it on your computer and used it day in and day out.

Shhhhhh! Don't say things like that around here - the Apple fans will be forced to actually use Vista before shooting it down!! :p

If it takes you nearly 2 hours to do that, then there are bigger issues.

I use Vista, and to scan 6 A4 sheets, save them and print them would take me about 5 minutes. Tops.

I use Both Vista and OS X as I have a PC and a Mac.

To be honest, I've always liked Vista. Alot. Never had a single problem with it. I had problems with XP, tons, but non with Vista. And I got it the day it came out.

I've had OS X for about 2 weeks now, haven't had a problem either. I like both OS's to be honest. I'm still learning OS X, so I can't say which is "better" but I prefer Vista/Windows due to software/gaming support. But that does not mean it's better.

There is a huge misconception out there put forward by those Apple commercials and alot of word-of-mouth saying that vista is buggy. At launch, the OS had compatibility issues. Most do. It was just hyped. Vista is the most secure Windows OS ever. But still not as secure as OS X. Why? More people have Windows OS's.

Anyway, I can't stand it when people knock Vista, especially if they've never used it before.

/endrant

I'd love to see some deleted/unused scenes of people who still didn't like "Mojave" and gave some constructive criticism.

To be fair, Apple doesn't explicitly state (or show) why their OS is so great in their ads, either.

i cant agree with you more shizzle. i like vista and it just gets a bad reputation. i am a recent switcher and i like OS X better, but i still like vista. my mom has it on her laptop and ive never had problems with it. it just doesnt have as many cool features that i know about as OS X.

ask the folks on this board who do knock on it...then ask if theyve ever used it, you'll probably get a lot of hands. but it goes to show the point of the commercial.

i use both vista and osx. vista is actually quite better than what people make it out to be.

I actually followed the link and watched the video. Funny how the lady at the end called it "an awesome program". I guess that just goes to show the install base huh?

What's that they say about "Build an idiot proof OS..."?

My mother's Vista computer failed at startup today and she is unable to log onto the computer to get her files

Maybe they could put this experience on a commercial

Uh. I might be the only person that thinks this, but their '22 hidden cameras' and 'Mohave' are really REALLY phony...

it's obviously acted, and terribly at that! Who is going to be fooled by that? The people have really awkward responses, stumble over their words and stare at the camera. My mom laughed at the ad [literally] and she barely knows how to use a computer...

That was really cheesy and phony.

And just so you know, I'm not a fan of the Get a Mac ads either, sure they're funny but they give the wrong image to Apple, they make them look smug.

I'll just quote sushi on this one:

Should add to 100%

Even if I use more than one OS, they should record the primary OS that I use, or make a group that captures those who use more than one OS.

Maybe they should make a commercial about the 'bad son' who let his poor mother buy a Vista computer. :p

I made sure my parents got a Mac. Even though I split my time between OS X and Vista, I know what people who aren't computer-savvy should be using.

The part I really love is that they built the web campaign in Flash vs. Silverlight. Hmm..... I guess even Microsoft knows when not to use its own technology.
<snip>

....and also copied the PicLens interface. Way to go Microsoft, forget innovation, keep going with copying others.

Pathetic.

Oh my dear god, your mother's computer failed to boot up? Theres like a .00001% chance that it ONLY the Operating System causing that. No way it could be hardware failure.

And it's not like Apple computers NEVER break. There are threads, many threads in the message board about problems with their macs.

Anyway, the bottom line is that Vista is vastly Underrated and has a bad reputation for reasons I'll never understand.
