sorry to hear that jm88 , i hope you new one will be ok.

Did you notice it before visiting macrumors forum and testing it. Or did you notice yellowing and then found this thread in a search for a anyone with similar issues?

is it so obvious that it doesn't require grey and white bars on the screen?

Yellow or not?

Hi everyone,
I got my iMac 21.5 SSD 256 i7 2.8. I think the screen is a little yellow but I would like to have your opinion on that, please.

Thanks!!!!:)

Cut the screen photo in half and line up top to bottom bars.

Unless you have a perfectly aligned camera stand/tripod and professional light conditions, and a very high quality camera i doubt anyone would be able to present a picture where the grey bars would be identical, yellowing or no yellowing.

instead of cutting the picture in half, it might be a bit easier just to open the same picture twice in Preview and flip one of them around.

I still think the easiest test is to open Finder, stretch to fill screen, select where it shows alternating white and blue rows. It's becomes so much more obvious than the grey bars.

Thanks pour the answers. I must say that the yellow is very light, but somewhere Im upset: for example, when Im on that Macrumors page, the end is not truly white but a little yellow. Its too bad because the computer is so good. So maybe I could live with that.

the tint is very light on my 2011 21.5"

doesn't bother me

exchanging the iMac until i get a perfect screen is like winning to the lottery

not so bad, so i'm keeping it

i will take the applecare soon

Just purchased mine yesterday. Looks like I have an issue. Do yall think I should return it now or wait?

Can't see it on yours, but it's your eyes that count.

That's what makes it so agonizing... no matter how gracious their return policy, I wouldn't want to get into a b!tchy wrangle with the store over it. They may say it's perfect and I'll start questioning my own sanity.

You've simply posted a screengrab, not a photo of your actual screen. The yellowing won't show up on a screengrab. You need to take a photo of your screen with a camera.

yellow screen

I didn't really pay much attention to any of these threads about imac issues before mine
came last thursday as I couldn't imagine my shiny new £2k machine not being perfect...
unfortunately I don't think it is.

I noticed after a while of using google chrome that a patch on the right of the screen
was a bit muddy looking, it got more annoying but I was trying to convince myself it was
just my eyes.

After comparing it to my 22" dell ips monitor the whole thing looks too warm and I can
clearly see the more affected patch. When I start up the imac It takes me a minute
before I notice but I don't think I can live with it, so i'm going to see if I can get an
exchange. If the next one has issues i'll just send it back and save up for a mac pro.

I don't think it's acceptable and has really p****d me off after waiting an age for it in the first place.

Here are some pics it doesn't show up too well so I enhanced it a bit, I don't think I'm being too picky for the amount of money i've spent.

Bazo - i think you're well within your rights. This will likely get worse with time and its not something you can simply "un-notice". It certainly effected my enjoyment. For the money it costs you would expect it to be perfect, or damn close to 99%. Your screen pics look very poor.

Note to everyone: Try increasing the white point in the calibration settings, as i found Apple have almost made the screen look too warm by default in what some could interpret as an attempt to mask any possible yellow. Make the whites match the white point on your Dell, or any monitor you consider to be a good screen in your household, and the yellow/screen uniformity issues become really noticeable.

IMHO opinion while its not good to intentionally looking for problems, you want to be sure its not defective BEFORE your 14 days pass and your money is gone forever.

reclusive46 - It may just be your camera but it looks like you have patches of red and blue tint all over the place?

haha to be honest. I just think its my iPhone xD It looks bad in there. For my eyes it seems perfect apart from minor backlight bleeding. Let me find a better camera :D

Why on earth are you posting pics of it in the first place asking people opinions if it looks good in your eyes????
