seriously how stupid do they think people are. ... oh yeah i forgot that apple has the entire internet on their one server....
if they keep this up they are going to be at the wrong end of a huge class action lawsuit...

I'm on the phone with Apple support right now. The guy told me that "AT&T was upgrading their towers this morning and had to take down the data network in order to do so". .
odd...i think it's working...just got some emails through, and the weather widget works now...this is in northern va....
That doesn't wash. The South appears to be unaffected. The area is from roughly Norfolk to Boston and west to St. Louis.
I strongly suggest you don't even bother with the AT&T and Apple CSR lackeys. They have NO clue and will say anything just to get you off the line.
lol. I love how crazy people are when data goes down for a few hours. Just deal. It's not just you. I would like to know HOW you expect ATT or Apple to fix this issue "for you" and not the other millions of people experiencing the same thing? IMO, it's your fault for calling and trying to get this resolved if you knew it was a widespread problem.
Sprint, Verizon, TMobile have never had network issues?

Here's the logical solution. Wait until the data goes back up, call and complain, get refunded + something else (free month?).

boy am i glad it isn't just my poor iphone...
Boston's out, western massachusetts out, maine is apparently out too...not sure if it's only iphones, but a guy with a blackberry on the train with me in Boston wasn't getting data with ATT either.
i suppose i'll forgive ATT if this is part of some upgrading so i get decent 3G speeds at times other than 1-5am, but i'm guessing it's just a big ol' failure of some sort...glad i'm not on the road looking for directions etc...this is why i want an offline mapping app...
But if people keep calling it keeps the problem at the front of the pile of other issues that I'm sure they're having. I had text messaging problems with my old Blackberry on Nextel. They had a national outage on texting that may still be an ongoing issue... They ended up giving my phone a new IP address among other fixes and a few credits to my bill.
I just hope that this problem doesn't turn into that all over again...
Yeah...because I'm sure if people don't call and complain AT&T will just decide their data network is no longer important and forget about the issue.![]()
They really have to make a CDMA version to get into the Enterprise in the US. Piloting the AT&T network (not just the iPhone) has been a absolute disaster.

3G working again in Lower Manhattan but VERYYY slowly.
One day the citizens of South Park wake up and find the internet is gone. When Randy hears there may still be some internet out in California, he packs up his family and heads west.
It is slower than molasses here in downtown DC, and appears to be bouncing up and down like a ping pong ball.
