As others have mentioned, my main attraction to iPhones is for iOS and its ease of interfacing to other Apple products. My 6+ still does this AND has a phone jack. With a new battery sometime this year I can extend it for another 18 months or so. I wish Apple would make a cheaper model phone less thin and inclusive of a phone jack. Looking to the future, a USB-C power replacement for the Lightning would also be a plus. I'll probably purchase a new iMac later in the year and hold off on iPhones and iPads until the product has yet another year to stabilize. I've totally given up on Apple laptops - way too expensive for product returned these days.

This idea that we'll get the iPhone 7S (or as I call it the iPhone 6SSS) this year as well as a new design is weird. If the new one is super expensive and the 7S is the same design as the 7 and 6, but similarly priced, then the 7S won't be compared favourably to the latest Samsung in the press. Price cut for it maybe?

Business 101 is you sell as much as you make. It's horrible business to "sit" on billions of dollars of product and it doesn't create demand - it turns people off as they get angry and don't want to wait and move on to something else.

as Tim's a supply chain guy, I can't help but think this delay is intentional to create demand
[doublepost=1493041954][/doublepost]And drives your stocks down....& loses customers. So this isn't artificial. Read the article.

Marketing 101, short supply causes hype.

how many times is MR going to post this same dumb story? Of course I would be shocked, SHOCKED if it turns out to be true. True se'ers these analysts are.

They should kill off those LCD models with fire. Time to dump ancient technology. These huge bezelled LCD iPhones will be the dinosaurs of 2017

"It's an artificial supply constraint" - People who were waiting six months for their Apple Watch.

The more I hear the name "iPhone 8", the more I think it would be a stupid name for the upcoming premiere/pro iPhone when it will launch alongside the iPhone 7s. iPhone Pro, iPhone Edition, or iPhone X would be so much better.

Apple Phone

New branding and another step from completely getting away from the iDevice moniker.

I don't like the all glass design. I was hoping they would go for something easier to hold like carbon fiber.

oh yeah sure carbon fiber no big deal, we'll just pay $1,500 for an iphone... but we'll have better grip so its ok

This year you'll be able to order your new iPhone at midnight and maaaaaaaaaybe when it delivers in February 2018 your new AirPods will be delivered alongside it. But I wouldn't count on it.

What I am really beginning to wonder in regards to severe shortages is... will Apple get their act together and get Airpods to the market quicker? You have to think that now Apple will have the iPhone 7 that has no jack and three new models that will also have no headphone jack.

Demand for Airpods should absolutely sky rocket. I hope they have worked out how to provide the wireless solution to their new range of phones by the time they are launched.

Funny the post above mentioned them at the same time

Rumors are getting ***** ridiculous now. Early in the morning I read on 9to5mac not launching until October/November.

May move on after my SE dies. Prices are getting ridiculous.

Agreed about prices. I've been pretty happy staying one or two generations back. You can pretty easily find a last-generation mint-condition iPhone with AppleCare for half of what it cost new, sometimes even less. Why bother with the 7 when the 6s is great. Why bother with the 7s or 8 or edition when the 7 is great?

I'm in no rush since I normally wait until the hype dies down before I purchase the new iPhone model. However, I would be less inclined to spend my hard earned money on the next gen. model if it's exactly the same factor as the current 6/6s/7 models.

I refuse to drop $1,000+ on a premium iPhone model when my 7 and SE do the exact same thing (I can wait on OLED for another year on the 4.7" and 5.5" models).

Introducing the all new SE OLED that ships with only 32 GB storage. Apple is very good at making product differentiation as painful as possible. No quarter shall be given in this regard.

Marketing 101: Don't be afraid to cannibalise your own product. If you don't, someone else will.

lol nooooo. That's a quote about releasing a completely new product category, not where it comes to marketing current product. This exact scenerio is the opposite.

Marketing 101 states never pre-announce a product while trying to sell a current one. And not that Apple is making this mistake, but "analysts" are making this assumption to sway their investors.

With how amazing the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are, the 2017 iPhone has to be really good for me to upgrade to it through Jump on Demand/T-Mobile.

Anyways, the iPhone SE is perfect for me price wise since I paid $185 for it brand new unlocked 32gb space grey.

Soooo basically the same thing they say every year only this time they added "severe" ???
Meh, the 6s and 6s Plus was never really constrained, and with the 7 the jet black color was constrained for a few weeks. The 7 Plus was constrained for a few weeks because they underestimated demand versus the 7.
It seems like this phone isn't really ready and I'm concerned that it may have issues if they are trying to rush a fall release (Note 7 anyone?)
