Is U2 even relevant anymore? Not really. That's why Drake and Katy Perry are out there with theirWatches.
Just had a thought about the "Apple Fanboy" (etc) comments - about any Apple product.
First, for people to want to jump on every new thing Apple comes out with, would they not first have to have been very satisfied customers of previous Apple products? And wouldn't that mean Apple is doing really good things to have that kind of customer in large numbers?
And would it not be true that pretty much each time they bought the latest Apple product, they must have been satisfied? If they got burnt a couple times, most would decide it is best to wait.
So, to me, the fact that there are "Fanboys" just reflects well on what Apple sells. I bet other companies wish they had more of it themselves.
There was definitely logic to what he was saying. I got it.
He said that, say, There are 78 million Xboxes sold - are we comparing an Xbox game to how well it does to that number? If only 5 million of an Xbox game sells, is that a failure?
Compared to DVDs? There are over 1 billion DVD/Blu-Ray players purchased. If a movie 'only sells' 90 million copies... is it a failure?

50 million is the HIGHEST PREDICTION. Analysts are predicting between 8 million and 41 million. ONE analyst (Roger Kay from Forbes) who said Apple is a flop, said he would eat his words and wear an Apple t-shirt that said 'I love Steve Cook' if Apple sold 50 million. THIS is why he made that high of a prediction, so he doesn't have to follow through.
Gen1 is honestly a bad product by Gen3 this will be a must have.
If you do not like gen 1 I'm not sure gen 3 will apeal. Unless you expect amazing evolution of what a wearable is.
Apple haven't convinced me it is useful, I just see it as something my phone can do and do it better. Maybe it is just me but I don't find it to be any effort at all just looking at my phone, why I ditched watches 15 years ago. If anything having to worry about battery life, charging it every day and having to constantly pull back my sleeve is more effort.
Speaking to people in real life though, no one I've spoke to wants one. We all know Apple has an army of fanboys who buy any old **** from them, I'm guessing most of those sales is from them. I highly doubt we'll be talking about amazing sales numbers in a half a years time when all the people who initially wanted one now have one.
I am confident Apple product team if not jony ive has a solid product life cycle plan even before throwing out Gen1. They know that they will bring out a round face including additional sensors but that would be a "magical" unveiling 2 years down the road.
Until then, like you, I wont be wearing that rectangle biscuit on my hand. Image
And yet people will still call it a failure.
We get it. You don't like it. Grow up.
I never said 100% of iPhone owners need to buy a watch for it to be a success; but like the article says, one-tenth of iPhone users buying the watch means only the hardcore Apple fans have preordered. That doesn't make it a success.
There are quite a few types of Apple "Fanboys" -Just had a thought about the "Apple Fanboy" (etc) comments - about any Apple product.

There are quite a few types of Apple "Fanboys" -
1. There is the ones you mentioned - those who stand by Apple because of the great experience they had.
2. There are those who got burned a few times, but are well situated into the Apple Ecosystem that they are a little more patient for launch day products. They are excited to try it out, but they aren't crazy. These people don't stand in lines.
3. There are those who are excited by whatever Apple makes and they order online because that's very convenient to them. They dislike the idea of standing in line for weeks to get a launch day device.
4. There are those who are so excited and impatient to get their hands on a launch day Apple device that they will camp outside stores to get their Apple product.
5. There are those who swear by Apple. These people have every single quality available in the world. They launch brutal mind attacks on anyone (yes even fellow Apple Fanboys) who dare criticize Apple. These folks are the only Apple Fanboys that can't see beyond Apple. They would prefer having every Apple competitor die out simply because they think that Apple is the only company that can innovate. They go by various names such as Appleians, or Applews, or Applim, or Appleu, or Appleist. Indeed, Appleism is their primary belief. Even if Apple screws them over, they think of it as Apple's mercy on them for they are insignificant compared to Apple. They troll anything related to Apple's competitor and they trash everyone. If Apple released a product called *****, which was literally a solidified version of Tim Cook's ****, they would buy it and place it as a center piece in their house for all to bathe in its vast glory.
6. There are those who swear by Apple but aren't crazy like #5. They aren't used to Android devices and they put up a good argument.
7. Finally, these are the underground, secretive Apple fanboys. They hang around parking lots and stake out stores because they love the smell of freshly bought Apple products. They need some money and they are too much in love with Apple to get a real job, so they steal from their fellow fanboys so they can stay connected with Apple.
These are the famed 7 types of Apple Fanboys. They go by various names, but in the end - majority of them are pretty nice. You just have to worry about #5 and #7, because #5s are very similar in nature to say Justin Bieber fans.
Disclaimer: These 7 types are not scientifically proven. No experiment was conducted to confirm the 7 types.
Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition representing a respective order allocation of 85%, 15% and less than 1%.

Looks Like Tim Cook's first new product category launch is a success. Apple has totally crushed the existing smart watch market in less than a week of sales. Like with smartphones, expect companies to start shifting and changing the way they design their smart watches now that Apple has shown them how to properly do it.

"Don't buy it, wait for the next gen in 12 months".
You know what I don't get about people like you. Why you remotely think that we would act on what you say, we are fully capable of reading and deciding for ourselves. Also the fact we'll probably will. Sell this one and then get the next.
The 'May' bing out a round face in the Future... but really wouldn't count on it. And well watches have also been square / rectangular for 100 years too.
The iPad sold 300,000 units on day 1, and it wasn't until the 3G version was released that they sold 1 million units.
The iPad 1 3G launched on the same day as the iPad 1 WiFI.

maybe you could exercise
Guess when you buy one, we can call it a success then.
