Luckily, they still sell the iPhone 8 for even less than the Xr. It's a pretty good upgrade from the 6S.I *wanted* to like the XR, but $750 is still a lot of money, and compared to my 6S it seems like such a big clunky brick.

My daughter placed an order for an Xs on pre-order day and then cancelled it. Her patience is about to be well rewarded!Yup. After this year, I'm going to stop buying phones on day one. Nearly every flagship has had some kind of sale (Pixel 3 was discounted $100, Pixel 3 XL $150). To me, those are the selling prices now.
They have to pay for the more advanced tech somehow and I think from a business perspective with R&D costs, selling fewer phones with margins was the right choice. Next year tooling etc will be lower and the price can plummet.
Jeez. Apple Stores also have easels holding up a poster about “XR starting at $449”. Never seen some type of promo like that.
I really hope they learned their lesson this year. Sheesh.
Kuo is usually right about leaks of upcoming products, but wrong about sales estimates every year.
His crystal ball predicting sales is not as reliable as his contacts at Foxconn who leak product info.
I work for one of the two biggest carriers and the XR is by far our best selling phone. So this news comes at a surprise to me.
That’s because it’s fake news and impossible to know.I work for one of the two biggest carriers and the XR is by far our best selling phone. So this news comes at a surprise to me.
Good post. Reality in prior years contradicts unit sales worries. Every. Year. This news from Bloomberg tends to contradict Kuo.
We’ve been down this road before. Over the past few years, there have been a number instances where rumors regarding sluggish iPhone sales have turned out to be completely off the mark, if not completely baseless. In light of that, a new report from Bloomberg relays that Apple’s top two manufacturing partners — Foxconn and TMSC — both reported strong revenues for November. Specifically, both companies saw revenue surge by about 5.6% last month.
I traded in a 7+ for the XR, at the moment my only backup phone is a Pixel XL. If they made an SE2 and did 8 or even 7 internals in the same 5S body, I would buy the **** out of it just to have a reliable backup phone.Good news is that Apple may get desprate and actually release a SE2!

1) They made it because the iPhone X was a smash hit.I couldn’t and still can’t get my head around why they made and released the XR, it’s way over priced, if there was going to be a cheaper version why not just drop the price of the iPhone 8.
You can put it on monthly plan but you can't just pay it off or it negates the bogo. Why can’t you put it on the monthly payment plan and just pay it off? Don’t see why you can’t do that

I agree 100%The price is not the only factor. Many people simply don't want to carry a flat-screen television in their front pocket.

I really like big phones, but honestly if they did an SE2 with updated hardware and somehow gave it dual-SIM (unlikely since they want to promote the XS and XR but still), I would even consider using it as my main daily driver. Only if it had a classic 5S body style, though.I finally got rid of my 6s and bought an Xs this year, but of all my iPhones (starting with the 3Gs) the 5s was my favorite for size and "hand feel". I agree, I would have jumped all over an SE2 with the 8 internals.
Maybe now is the time for better XR carrier promotions. I would have considered some but the offers were nowhere near as good as years prior.

If they were cheaper, I might consider getting one to replace my 6s plus. The way apple has been increasing prices is just insane.
The iPhone X was introduced at $1k, the Xs is about the same. The XS max starts at $1,099. There is no equivalent model in the past. So where again is apple “raising prices”? The Xr is $750, the iPhone 7 is $449.If they were cheaper, I might consider getting one to replace my 6s plus. The way apple has been increasing prices is just insane.
Where else is there to look? The greed in price increases is starting to take a toll. They should lower the prices or people are going to switch to Android or look somewhere else.
