If there is going to be a new MacBook Pro releasing at least six months after the first Apple Silicon model then with a major change to the screen technology then I'm pretty sure that it will have a more powerful chipset, even if it is just the M1X.
Yup. I'm guessing that a Spring 2021 event will have iPad Pro models with A14x and mini-LED along with MacBook Pro (14" and 16") with M1x and mini-LED. M1x may have more graphics cores, more memory, and 2 more Thunderbolt lanes. I wouldn't be surprised if that chip also finds its way into the Space Gray Mac Mini as well.

Another day, another LED-based screen rumour....

I find it difficult to get too excited by these unless they're going to be accompanied by a redesign of the laptops incorporating things like ProMotion, faceID etc. Exciting times ahead for the Mac lineup next year though, whether that's the first or second half of 2021.

Bizarre that’s all I got to say
OLED continues to blow me away, I wonder if it can get any better it’s that awesome (especially Apple OLED)
Maybe yours is amazing, this one is yellow tinted even with everything set to standard, off axis progressively worse. Older Apple LCD's on other phones we've had looked better. Friend's son's one is the same - seen two, both poor.

Samsung/Android uses higher contrast, whereas Apple uses more natural tones. The higher contrast makes it look more appealing than the flatter images that Apple gives off. That being said, higher contrast means less colors/accuracy.
Well you'd think, but this one is definitely tinted and less pure than the Samsung (both set to most basic settings). I'll measure it when I get a chance but it reminds me of one of my older iPhones, I forget which, which was yellow tinted.

I just need a new M1 iMac to be announced at the March event, please and thank you.

Not likely, although I’ve been holding out with the same hope. It looks like it’s going to be WWDC in June.

Why would it be m1.5? Apple has had same nanometer sized iPhone processor updates as full numbers, so I don’t see why m1 would be different. We will prob get m2 and then a m2x for the 16 inch and high end iMacs.
When we get to M5, the jokes referencing that 'Star Trek' episode will start. :)

Any rumored timeline on new iMacs with M1? My 2014 27" iMac has serious screen burn in issues by the dock and its time for a change. Whatever happened to the 24" version that was thought to be released this year? A lot of talk about MacBooks and iPads, but is a reformatted iMac likely in Q1 or Q2 of 2021....(they can keep the 21", however)?

With M1 Apple has made MAC lot more interesting. Many will buy current M1 and others looking forward buying in next iteration. Now, no brainer to switch from pathetic Windows to M1 MAC MacOS.
I guarantee that at some point directly or indirectly Microsoft will help natively run Window on M1 MACs. And Linux version will follow.

Every independent tests have validated that the 12 Pro Max screen is the best screen ever. They went as far as qualifying it as indistinguishable from perfect.
There must be an issue with your wife 12 mini, it does happen. Go to the Apple Store and get it swapped.
The 12 Pro Max is not the 12 mini. The 12 mini screen is not very good.

I love how this kind of "News" always Leaks a couple of weeks after a new Mac, or phone is released (and all the early adopters have spent full price on what they thought was the latest & greatest)!

Very tempted with the current M1 Macs, but I know it will be worth the wait for a redesigned MacBook Pro with the very latest tech such as mini-led and hopefully FaceID.
FaceID would be nice, but if they can't get a 1080p camera in that shallow enclosure I'm not sure they could fit facial recognition tech.

I'm looking to get a new iMac when they launch with Apple processors, but I really want a way to unlock things like 1Password without typing in passwords. I'd take a wired keyboard with TouchID! I'm going to find a way to make 1Password unlock with a Ubikey I think.

Apple is widely reported to be embracing mini-LED display backlighting technology for some products next year, and a new report today by DigiTimes has named several of Apple's partners in the supply chain that are expected to benefit from the switch.

According to the report, Apple is set to launch its first mini-LED iPad Pro in the first quarter of 2021 and mass produce mini-LED MacBook Pro models in the second quarter, and a number of Taiwan manufacturers are building a "pre-emptive presence" in the Mini-LED segment in anticipation.
The report goes on to note that among Apple's supply chain partners, TSMC will still benefit most from these devices, as the foundry has reportedly landed all the 5nm chip manufacturing orders for both Mini-LED iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models. Coupled with strong iPhone sales, 2021 is said to be looking good for TSMC, with first-quarter revenues likely to hit a new high, according to DigiTimes' sources.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, production will begin on mini-LED displays for the iPad Pro in the fourth quarter of 2020, with a launch expected in the first half of 2021. Apple is also believed to be working on new 16.1 and 14.1-inch MacBook Pro models with mini-LED displays, which are expected to be released during the first half of 2021.

Mini-LED displays offer impressive wide color gamut performance, high contrast and HDR, and local dimming, and Kuo says adoption of the tech will "significantly improve productivity and the entertainment experience."

All future MacBook Pro models are expected to use Apple Silicon chips now that the first Apple Silicon Macs with M1 chip are available.

A couple things I would love:

1. 4K resolution, or great. 4K content just doesn't look very good on my 15" mbp. Would love a slight bump in resolution.

2. Full HDR (Dolby Vision+/HDR10) capability.

3. 120hz, VRR display.

I know it's very unlikely that we'll get all 3 of these. I'd be happy with 1 of them, and thrilled with 2. Also, would LOVE a 16" macbook air with the M1 (or newer) CPU, and this display.

They definitely did stagnate, and it was incredible to see AMD catch up to them, and then take the lead as if Intel is stuck in cement.

Though, in all fairness, we should also be honest enough to admit that not all of us actually use, or need, their computer's horsepower to its full potential.

I mean, I'm totally aware of the pros and cons of 14nm, 7nm, 5nm etc. especially in regard to power consumption or performance per watt.
Point is, if you're an office worker like my wife, and spend your days working with Excel, Word and Outlook, even a 14nm Celeron or i3 is enough.
Sure, but even without thinking about core counts and process size and benchmarks, the advantages of the M1 for the average consumer are clear. Reviewers are showing that the laptops are "hilariously fast", have enormous battery life, they hardly ever turn their fans or (or don't have any at all), they run cooler, etc.

They even seem to handle RAM better, as base model 8GB M1 Macs are reportedly outperforming intel Macs with higher raw RAM and CPU specs.

I don't wish ill fortune upon intel either, but clearly the M1 has something that they don't.

The touch bar will probably vanish at the same time the whole screens become touch screens.
Which will NEVER happen of course, according to Apple ;)
I don't get this obsession with touch screens and people defending touchbar to their teeth and telling everyone "we hold it wrong". There is already a big touch surface on every macbook called the touchpad, just turn it into an 'optional screen' and add pencil support.

Really? Wait until we see the sales figures on just M1 Macs sold

I hope intel comes out with a RAW power chip that blows the M1 out of the water.

I don't like the way people are bashing Intel. Intel has been making processors a very long time. not Apple

It's Like Steve Jobs is alive again and the Hate and bashing of Intel processors has started all over again.
Oh please

1. Apple no longer reveals sales of devices ( I think unit devices but something like that) anymore for the past couple of years

2. haha Intel releasing a so called “RAW Chip”

3. oh you don’t like people bashing Intel sweetie tough luck. Intel ****ed themselves with the massive amount of delays (years) to 10nm, another recent 2-3 years delay to 7nm ( they said this sometime ago) this tech company has the balls to compare themselves to TSMC when they are far behind them in any way possible

oh and you’re also forgetting how bad they’re modem technology is. Get a grip and get a move on

and P.S Apple doesn’t make processors. TSMC does that for them. Apples field of custom silicon is still far better than Intel’s bad engineering
