I don't care about Mini-LED, just put the M1 in the MBP 16". That's all I want. 600 days without an update, come on Apple!
With the prices of the M1 MacBook Air and the M1 MacBook Pro, adding the common M1 in the 16 inch will not be enough to necessitate the currently high price of the 16 inch. $700 for three inches of screen real estate would be insane. It’s got to have more than just an M1 upgrade for that price.

that sounds like the old 15" air that i believe some wanted, with large screen and long battery life but without the heat issues and power of the current 15/16 pros

WWDC is a developer event, and has released several PRO level products in its history… trust me they’re coming at WWDC, that’s why Apple have already released details of both WatchOS and iOS to save time at the event.

You have to remember said developers use products such as the MacBook Pro.

The article says that the shipments of components will begin in the 3rd quarter of this year. You think the actual MacBook Pro’s are going to be shipping in July? The components aren’t even shipping until the 3rd quarter……

Also, where did you see where Apple released details of WatchOS and iOS 15? There’s been nothing but leaks and rumors thus far.

What am I missing where people are so sure that Apple is announcing new MacBook Pro’s at WWDC?

Disclaimer: Mini-LED touch bar for brighter emojis.

Jokes aside... I hope we get mini-led MacBook pros announced soon for possible fall shipment. Rumors seem to be back and forth if we are getting mini-led with the upcoming redesign or next year's refresh. Looking to step up from my rMB which has served me well.

does anyone know if the 14" macbook pro will lack features from the next 16" macbook pro? i really hope that the 14" has miniLED, all the ports, and a 2 fan system. if anyone didn't know, the baseline 24" iMac only has 1 fan and it was a clear disadvantage over the 2 fan variant.

miniLED is not as important to me as a new apple silicon 16" machine is. Since I don't really game, edit or watch content much on my laptop it just isn't a big priority. However I can't see Apple announcing new machines in a week but then saying oh, they are coming in the fall. One of the rumors is incorrect.

for it is, that was the main reason i got my 2012 to begin with, facebook scrolling gate aside lol

priority 1) M1X, 1a) mini led 2) fan system given what we've seen with the M1 air/pro and the 24" imac base vs upgrade

Something definitely has to give here. Except for the occasional brand new product, can’t recall Apple announcing something in, e.g., June but with shipments not starting until August or September.

I will be honest I did jump the gun here and didn’t read the article correctly… if the above is true, that is just crazy considering both Prosser and Gurman have both penned a summer launch for the MacBook Pro’s, as well as other sources…

So either these displays are for next years models and the redesigned MacBook Air or no hardware is coming at WWDC…

Or potentially we could just see the current designed macs with an m1x thrown in.

3rd quarter means in the summer (May-June-July)
Whereas iPhone realese usually falls into last 4th quarter (Aug-Sept-Oct)

The first deliveries in 3rd quarter probably means launch in 4th quarter. They need to build some inventory before launch.

Yeah I don't think we're going to see a redesigned MBP at WWDC. Maybe an incremental upgrade, like M1x or something and tighter integration with iPadOS 15. These parts aren't coming in until Q3, so maybe a September announcement and Q4 launch?

How long does it take between receiving the parts, building millions of them, boxing them up, and shipping them out? 3rd quarter = July, August, Sept. If we are optimistic, Apple gets the displays in July. I don't think we'll receive them here until Sept at the earliest.

So basically shipping anytime between July and September… I should expect:

Pre-Order: 11th June
Shipping: 9th July

That’s if the iPad Pro launch dates are anything to go by…
They better launch these mini led MacBook pros at WWDC 😍 Can't look at this LCD panel anymore, need a mini led MacBook Pro like my mini led iPad Pro. 😂

Q1 = Jan - Feb - Mar
Q2 = Apr - May - Jun
Q3 = Jul - Aug - Sept
Q4 = Oct - Nov - Dec

If this article is true we could see them launch as early October but as late as Spring next year… but remember this is only for the displays… so we could quite easily get a redesigned LCD MBP, with a refresh to miniLED displays next year, or we could even just get a chip upgrade in the 13” and 16” high end pros with the same design just with M1X.

Apple might just be pre-preparing for delays with miniLED come winter (if covid peaks it’s ugly head again) to ensure we don’t see another slow delayed launch next year like the current iPad Pro’s are suffering.
