My take. MacBook Pros are coming next week. And so is Mini LED. Just not next week.

I think the MBP will come with displays similar to the current displays, and mini LED displays will be a BTO option that will cost more, and not be available immediately. And may only be available for 16” models to start.

Q1 = Jan - Feb - Mar
Q2 = Apr - May - Jun
Q3 = Jul - Aug - Sept
Q4 = Oct - Nov - Dec

If this article is true we could see them launch as early October but as late as Spring next year… but remember this is only for the displays… so we could quite easily get a redesigned LCD MBP, with a refresh to miniLED displays next year, or we could even just get a chip upgrade in the 13” and 16” high end pros with the same design just with M1X.

Apple might just be pre-preparing for delays with miniLED come winter (if covid peaks it’s ugly head again) to ensure we don’t see another slow delayed launch next year like the current iPad Pro’s are suffering.
That’s a good point!

Yeah 100%, I still have the impression that all these delay rumours are literally just for miniLED, but we know that Apple will ditch things to release sooner rather than later… 120hz screen for iPhone 12 is a perfect example.

From what I can gather both the redesigned MacBook Air and MacBook Pro’s were rumoured late last year/early this year to come at the end of 2021.

Then we had all the delay rumours of miniLED (which are true as we have evidence of it from the iPad Pro launch), then all of sudden we have rumours of the Air refresh being pushed back, and Gurman coming out saying that the MBP is on track for a summer launch, but did not mention miniLED at all.

So I think Apple originally planned for a Mac event at the end of the year for redesigned pros and airs, but due to delays they have split the launches and have brought the MBP sooner rather than later as it is in more urgent need of a refresh.

‘Apple plans to launch the redesigned MacBook Pros in 14-inch (code name J314) and 16-inch screen (J316) sizes. They’ll have a redesigned chassis, magnetic MagSafe charger and more ports for connecting external drives and devices. Apple is also bringing back the HDMI port and SD card slot, which it nixed in previous versions, sparking criticism from photographers and the like.’ QUOTED FROM GURMAN

Is Global Lighting Technologies the only supplier of mini LED for Apple? Who supplies the iPad Pro 13" XDR display?

I will be honest I did jump the gun here and didn’t read the article correctly… if the above is true, that is just crazy considering both Prosser and Gurman have both penned a summer launch for the MacBook Pro’s, as well as other sources…

So either these displays are for next years models and the redesigned MacBook Air or no hardware is coming at WWDC…

Or potentially we could just see the current designed macs with an m1x thrown in.

Those are just accessibility features and are not in any way early previews of iOS 15. They announced those things as part of Global Accessibility day to show their commitment to accessibility. Nothing regarding features of iOS 15 has been released by Apple and there are only rumors.

Yes it is, and we can see how delayed those displays are currently… I think Apple are getting them early for next years MBP so they have plenty of inventory for a decent amount of availability at launch.

Unlike the 2 month delay launch of the current iPad Pro.

Do you have a source?

I found this diagram for the iPad Pro:https://www.ledinside.com/intelligence/2020/6/miniled_apple_supplychain

No just purely speculation
So you're just speculating then?

According to this older report, Kuo said Epistar and Sanan Optoelectronics are the main suppliers for mini LED.

Perhaps Global Lighting Technologies is just an alternative supplier of components for Apple's mini LED displays?

Yeah potentially, at this point with all these rumours of delays of miniLED and the delays we have seen with the iPad Pro, it’s safe to assume either your going to be waiting a while for miniLED if you don’t pre order quick or apple have shelved the idea for this year.

What if they announce the new MBPs at WWDC, open up preorders the day of or in a week or so, and ship them out 3 weeks after. Kinda like the iPad M1's took 3 weeks to ship after preordering.

That is likely what will happen if they are announced, all we know at this point is one of Apples suppliers isn’t shipping their miniLED displays until either July, August or September.

This means either Apple may not bother with miniLED this refresh or if they do supplies will probably be constrained more than expected.

Reveled next week… release date in Fall?

Save up your money people. It is going to be an expensive Fall this year!!!

How about pre-ordering starts next Friday for MacBook Pro 16”…

Wishful thinking..

7 days away…

Nope. Shipping late July with most shipments August or later. No way they would eat into their existing MacBook sales for 3 months…

Summarizing all reports by Bloomberg (Mark Gurman), Jon Prosser, and DigiTimes, it is almost certain that we are going to see the redesigned Macbook Pros in June/July but without mini LED.

Fully agree here think miniLED will come to the mac line in 2022, I’m not too bothered by miniLED tbh, I think Apples LCD panels are fantastic anyway.

I work in a MBP late 2013, all this years work, I pay $2K.

Now I will buy the new to replace this, you think the NEW MBP's can work like 8 years? that's my concern with buying MBPs in this days, in some way is better buy the cheaper model and sell it 2 or 3 years later and buy the cheaper again. Which is really sad! because I hate change it frecuently, I prefer keep it for years.

The article says that the shipments of components will begin in the 3rd quarter of this year. You think the actual MacBook Pro’s are going to be shipping in July? The components aren’t even shipping until the 3rd quarter……

Also, where did you see where Apple released details of WatchOS and iOS 15? There’s been nothing but leaks and rumors thus far.

What am I missing where people are so sure that Apple is announcing new MacBook Pro’s at WWDC?
Apple announcing MacBooks at WWDC this year is fantasy talk.

If they preview it, there must be something about it’s architecture that developers need to know about. Don’t get hopes up that it will be released anytime soon. It is clearly going to be a fall release.

Not according to Gurman (88.7% accurate)

All of this talk of MBP's next week, but without mini-LED are out to lunch. They just launched a mini-LED display in the iPad Pro and branded it a "Pro XDR display." There is pretty close to zero chance that Apple is going to launch Macbook Pro's without a "pro" level display.
