Miniot on sale tomorrow

I want to order one of these but now I'm thinking I'll wait to see what is going on with them. I did send an email asking about an engraving and also if there were going to be more styles available.

On the eBay page, the oak and cherry pictures look the same, I'm thinking the Cherry one is incorrect, since it doesn't look very cherry-esque.

Has anyone ordered one from the eBay page and gotten it?

I don't work for them! I just happened to find the product pretty cool.
I thought I was bringing information to the people here at Macrumors.

I happened to email the company about some of the options and he was kind enough to email me back in the middle of a product launch.

They seem to be having some problems with their servers and decided to better serve their customers by allowing them to purchase through an alternate site. If they had the mahogany available I would have gladly given them my money today but unfortunately they didn't.
Next time I find something cool I will keep it to myself.

The ebay page only went up within the last 24hrs so there's no way anyone has received one. The oak and cherry are definitely not the same. You can see the grains are different on both of them. As I stated earlier, that is natural cherry. Cherry wood starts out light and ages dark over time, or is stained very dark like you see on furniture.

Also I did order the cherry one and the payment went to "office@miniot.com". If all doesn't go well, I can always do a paypal dispute or a charge back with my bank.

I have sent them a few emails and they are usually pretty quick about getting back.

Since this was the first day for ordering I would doubt very seriously if anyone has had them shipped especially since they are coming from Holland. But if they ship overnight that would be awesome!

Is anyone going to use it with a back cover. I ordered a Best Skins Ever clear back cover and I'm thinking it will work fine with that.

I went in and pulled the bigger pictures up on the Oak and Cherry and I did notice the difference now. Thanks.

I probably will order a BSE or Phantom Skinz because it looks like the iPad will be resting on the wood in viewing stand mode and will still have contact with the wood in typing mode. Could be potential scuffing issues if left naked, but I probably won't get the skin til after I actually have the cover in my hand to get a better idea of texture.

I got a Zagg on mine right now.
 
I am looking at putting a black leather Zagg on the back when they are available. I may have to do some trimming where the miniot comes in contact when rolled up but should keep it from scuffing the leather.
 
Just added up what they have sold so far on Ebay. Over 370 sold first day at $70 = almost $30,000. Not bad.
I am in the wrong line of work!!!
 
I just realized something!!!

Will this cover lay flat on the back of the iPad and still stay attached?

I have a feeling it will not.
 
That was one of my questions in my first email to the company.
He didn't answer one way or the other on it.
Looks like we will have to wait for the first review.
 
Miniot iWood in Clarinet Black, ready in 8 weeks

So I just got off the phone with the guys at Miniot in Holland, and they were kind enough to tell me about the Clarinet wood they're currently ordering to make a black iWood. It should be available in about eight weeks (a long time, but that's the price you pay for getting exactly what you want).

So to all of you who talked about wanting a black Miniot iWood case, it's coming if you're willing to wait. Also, it will probably be more expensive than the current cases because of the cost of the wood.

But will it work with any kind of shell?

I'm curious as to whether it will work with any kind of shell. I'd imagine it'll go together fine with anti-scratch films like the Zagg invisibleSHIELD, but I'd be surprised if it works with something like the Incipio Feather or the Switcheasy Nude. That notch in the wood on the left-hand side (the one that the iPad sits in) can't have much extra room, even for a one or two millimetres of plastic.

Any input from early adopters would be appreciated, once they start arriving on doorsteps.

I assume you're referring to the 'Miniot Cover'/iPad case, not the 'iWood'/iPhone line of cases?
 
Got my confirmation email today. It says order 1049, which I hoping that is a number is including all previous sales like their iPhone case and not just a separate batch for the iPad 2 covers, because when I ordered the cherry cover there had only been around 21-22 buyers before me. Anyway, the pdf invoice attached said "preparation time 3 weeks plus shipping", so it's going to be a while unfortunately.

I guess that was through the eBay site?
 
Affirmative, plus I didn't even order any engraving or anything so I would imagine those orders may take longer. Then again the time is just an approximate so here's to hoping the non engraved ones go out sooner.
