Oh, and for those of you saying the attachment system he showed in the video was suspect - The cover is made so it bends inward towards the ground in that upside down position. He was clearly holding the cover with his thumb, but he was holding one of the thinner slats in the middle. If the magnets were not good enough the sides would have flopped all over the place when he shook it.

And no, I don't work for them. I just took 5 years of woodshop in school, and worked as a finish carpenter for a couple of years after. I'm hardly an expert, but do know enough to get myself into trouble.

yeah, they are not scam for sure. They have been in business for a while, and I bought an iPhone3 case from them before. Beautiful workmanship but kinda expensive considering one drop would shatter the case (iphone case). I ended up selling my iwood case on ebay. surprisingly it held its value well even with all those fake iwood cases on ebay. Back to ipad2 cover...I am sure Miniot will deliver the product for sure, but I do fear the strong interest in this cover will cause some major delays (even more than 3 weeks....).

Miniot is a good and reputable store, they even sell the cases on the Dutch Apple site:
http://store.apple.com/nl/product/TV264ZM/A

I have bought a few cases from them, and they deliver top notch quality, and customer service is also great.

I think with the world wide news coverage of their iWood smartcover they got overwhelmed with orders and need some time to sort it out.

it will be well worth the wait for these ;)

I've been following this thread for awhile now and can't believe no cases have been reported received yet. I'd like to see some reviews before I decide to make a purchase. I've searched the web and cannot find any user reviews or professional reviews of this product. Strange - considering it's mid April.

I know they are a legit company and have highly rated cases for the iPhone and iPod - but common lets hear about just one person receiving this product and giving us a review :D

Just received an e-mail :D

Dear Miniot customer,

The demand for our Miniot Cover is overwhelming.
Because of this, and because the Miniot Cover is an extraordinary product that takes a lot of care and attention to make, there is a slight production delay.
Instead of tuesday April 19th. 2011, we will ship your order on friday April 22nd. 2011.
At the moment we ship, we will email you a confirmation with tracking number.

Thanks for your patience,

Best regards,

Miniot Team

And I purchased via their temporary eBay store. So those calling this company a bunch of scammers need to relax.

Has anyone gotten one?

Was hoping to see pics or a review by now but I guess they are still taking a while to make/send...

On their facebook page today is a couple of pictures of stacks of the covers with the caption "First covers being shipped today'.

Looks like folks will be getting them pretty soon. They look awesome.

order #

my order number is 873. BUt i had some changes made. I went from Padouk to Walnut, and also asked that my name be engraved for free. This was not an option when I bought through the ebay site, but became available when they started selling on their website.

I found their customer service excellent and responsive. I also am getting a portenzo shipped, and found their customer service responsive as well.

I wish these pics were posted earlier. I have to say I changed my order from Padouk to walnut because of the pictures on their website, it looked more orange than reddish. Now seeing those pics, the Padouk looks reddish which I really like.

Also the oak looks very deep brownish in colour in these pics, but look faded and plain in the website. I would have actually preferred the oak as well to the walnut which i ordered.

Maybe it would be better if Miniot would put in some real colour photos (maybe resting on the ipad on a table or something) against some reference objects so that the hues of brown can be properly determined it would make it easier. The current photos are mock-ups almost which don't give the same color detail with the photos that were just posted

These are natural products. The color is different from piece to piece, and ages to a different color as well. The padouk you see in the pic may be quite different from that you get in your final product.

Here's an example I just found online with cherry wood. The guy was making a table and noticed a split in the wood, so he replaced the left board in this pic one day after the right one was placed. You can see how different the coloration is now, even though the boards are from the same part of the same tree.

This is 1 day's difference. I'm not sure if sealing it with varnish would greatly reduce this from happening, as air can no longer get to the wood.

therock - what is your order number with them?

I'm curious if these cases are varnished. I may varnish minor with a clear coat so that it stays nice and clean

I've emailed miniot a couple of times about this but maybe some of you guys who are experienced with woodworking can help me out.

I would like to get one of these covers but would like to put a polyurethane coating on it for protection. Good idea or bad? I would imagine that I would have to sand it down a little in order to do this.

gugy: No, I don't. Just a guy excited about getting one. I love wood products. They stated on the website it got 3 coats of varnish.

cmoore49: As stated above, they put 3 coats of varnish on the cover. No need for a polyurethane coating, it's already protected.
