Ordering is up on their own site for those of you that were concerned with the eBay site.
Able to customize with all the different types of wood.

Snagged a Cherry cover with a pretty sweet grain pattern. So stoked. Love how they set up the options on the site.

These look awesome! Now to order now or wait until I see some reviews?? (The bad part is that I fear I'm developing a case addition....!)

I have purchased a standard version on their ebay store and I now wanna switch it to the custom version, i have sent them a email but never got reply, anyone knows other ways to contact them??

It usually took them a couple of days to get back to me after emailing.
Give them some time I'm sure they are backed up with the new launch.

Anyone seen a review of this? If it gets good reviews i'm definitely buying one!

Ha, never mind.... I just checked out their site

Did anyone notice that Miniot got 4 negative feed backs and was kicked off eBay?

I think they just closed shop on eBay because they can take orders from their site now.

It seems that people complained about waiting 2 weeks for their cases to be shipped. The complained to eBay and Paypal and they shut down Miniot's eBay store.

I see it differently, and here's why. Firstly, Miniot mentioned on their website that the eBay store would be a temporary fix until their own web store had been updated with the new product. Next, their web store was updated with said product. Thirdly, and lastly, the eBay store disappeared, which one can only deduce was a result of step two having followed step one.

Either way, I really don't think anyone needs to be too worried about receiving their cover. If anything, it's nice to know that each product is being handmade by a small, family business. I'm happy to support them.

Anyone have any ideas or plans on how to go about protecting the back of their iPad after they install their Miniot up front? Or does everyone plan to leave their iPad pants-less, as it were?

The way I see it is... go to Miniot's website and read what they say about people complaining about there eBay auctions. Next, go see that they have 4 negative feedbacks, then go read eBay's policy on negative feedback and how they shut you down after several back to back negative feedbacks.

I never said I was worried, I just asked if anyone has seen it.

PS- Ebay has confirmed that their store was shut down "Policy violations". A simple email confirmed that.

Anyone else receive an unexplained refund today?

I ordered a specific case from the pick your wood category last week and today received a full refund with no explanation whatsoever. I am going to be mad when they inform me that they mistakenly cancelled my order and then sold my cover.

Are there any new updates on this or anyone who has ordered from them? Is there a policy that if you don't file a claim with paypal for the delayed shipping that you can't get your money back? Or if they still don't deliver in a month, you can just cancel the paypal payment?

Mike

I still don't get what happens when you want to flip the cover behind the iPad. It doesn't seem like it would lay flat, and even if it did, who wants wood slats rubbing against the aluminum back?

Maybe you take it off and reverse it?

On the miniot site, there are no photos, nor any mention, of it being capable of folding back flat, reversed or not.

Also wonder what a slab of wood the size of the ipad, and equally thick (if not thicker), would weigh. Seems like it could be pretty heavy.

Well just an update on me, I ended up canceling my original ebay requesting a refund so that I could do the tone your own option, and they did respond within 48 hours and refunded me the next day. I submitted the tone your own about a week ago so I will update this thread of any updates I get, but I'm in the back of the queue again. However they still gave me an approx of 3 weeks from order date.

biosci - you have 45 days to submit a Paypal dispute from date of payment. I would probably submit one if you haven't received a shipping confirmation after 15 business days as they stated in the auctions.

mcdj - if you go to the miniot site and hit "click to continue", it brings you to the ipad cover page details and in the lower center it shows that you indeed flip it and attach it to the back in a photo and specifies that it does snap to the back. As far as thickness, imo, from the other pics I attached, the cover doesn't seem to be as thick as the iPad itself... more like half or a little less than half:

Thanks, missed that. It says 3mm thick and 100g. This is 1/3 the thickness and 1/6 the weight of the iPad, so it's pretty light and reasonably thin. Still, I'm waiting for reviews.

Scam!!!

Anyone else thinks Miniot is one huge SCAM?

- Announced shortly after iPad2 release. And it's the only company in the world who announces smart cover.

- How did they get iPad2 prototype ahead of time in order to develop the smart cover? They're unknowns, not from US. It's not like Apple will send them specs in advance of iPad2 release.

- They can't answer definitely about when product will be shipping. Other companies like Element Case at least say that they have this kind of demand and you have to wait this amount of time. Miniot only put vague statements that it will take 3 weeks. And it was "3 weeks" two weeks ago. and still "3 weeks" if you contact them about your order now.

- Whole story with closing account on eBay. Now they're accepting orders on they own website which means if it's not PayPal good luck getting your money back. When they were selling on eBay you could easily fiel a complaint and get your money back. Now they closed eBay account while still having orders open on eBay!

I think most of you are totally overreacting. They're clearly a small company that's overwhelmed by the sudden demand for their product. Look at how many they sold in the first few days alone. Now try to consider how much work goes into each cover.

If you've never worked with wood before, you may not know how much effort is involved with each step in the process. This isn't some injection molded plastic deal. Each cover has many segments which need to be individually planed, sawn, routed twice, sanded and varnished. Then they need to assemble all of that with the felt backing. It's a very involved, intensive process.

I too got my order confirmation, and it shows my order date of 04/05. It does say 3 weeks prior to shipping, but it doesn't say 3 weeks from today.

These are hand made products. They can't whip out 150 an hour to keep up with demand.

Do a review search on YouTube and look at the quality of their iphone products. This is really nice, hand crafted stuff and it shows.

Those of you freaking out need to try the decaf.
