Has anyone tried a factory reset and setting up as new? I read in another thread that it worked

Ever since downloading and installing the Message+ verizon app, and deleting all the messages on the Verizon servers, I have not had one missed text. Three days and counting.

I tried this, and it did not fix the problem.

Iphone 12pro
Tmobile

Yep I just reset mine and I have the same issue again. It was kind of nice to start from scratch at least though as I’ve been restoring back up over back up for quite a while. LOL

I am on Verizon with iPhone 12 Pro, having the same MMS issues. Tried resetting my iPhone to factory default and setup as new, and I'm still experiencing the same issue. iOS 14.2. I thought initially it was my dual SIM configuration, one for Google Fi (e-SIM), and Verizon on the physical SIM. I disabled/removed the e-SIM, thinking it was that, but no. I'm still having MMS issues. It's very intermittent too. If I restart the phone, it works for a bit. After a while, it stops working.

If you’re on the iPhone 12, toggle 5g on and off in settings. That’s worked for me.

I had not missed a text in a week before the problem happened again last night. I had done all of the troubleshooting mentioned here. In another forum, someone wrote that Apple suggested turning off wifi calling, so now I am trying that one now. I think the end of the story is there is some software issue that needs to be corrected here and they just dont know what it is yet. I have spent hours on with Apple Support, uploaded logs for them to examine etc, so hopefully they will find the issue.

Been 5 days without missing a text after downloading the Verizon Message+ app and deleting all my old texts off their server.
How did you get messages+ to work on your iphone 12? Everytime I try to set it up it say invalid qr code.

Thanks!

FYI turning off wifi calling didnt work. I just missed a message.

I’ve tried everything so far and nothing seems to work. It seems like it works for a few hours or days, then I start missing messages again....

Exactly the same here. Luckily I have been in touch with Apple and sent them logs and photos and screen recordings of the issues. Lets hope that they are in touch with others. Everyone who has the issue should be contacting Apple. Also wouldn't hurt if this issue were to get some headlines here and in other places.

Yep been trying to keep in touch with Apple about this. I haven’t gotten very far with them. I do wish Macrumors would push this and post it on the front page.

After toggling 5g on and off it initially worked but the issue already came back.

I have a case with a Sr advisor now. She had me delete the message thread to see if that works. If it doesn’t, they are going to have engineering investigate.

They won't read MacRumors but you can direct them to this link for other reference to this issue:

It worked the first time for me. It sent me a text and i clicked the link in the text it sent me and it worked. Did you manually enter your phone number in setup as it wont automatically use your number. It doesnt know your phone number, thats why you have to add it to the app in setup. You can also set it up on an ipad if you cant get it to work on your phone. That way you can still delete all your texts off the verizon server.

There were no problems with iOS 14.01. Problems started with iOS 14.1.

Didn't most iPhone 12's ship with 14.1? I think that may be why so many new iPhone 12 owners think it's an iPhone 12 issue. Having said that, it's only a subset of users on various iPhones (I have 11 Pro with group text issues after update to 14.1) who are having problems.

Fixed it in my special case. Disassociate your iMessage with any email address. Settings > messages > send and receive. If you have a check next to an email I bet it hasn’t been working. I guess it is a workaround to the bug as it has always worked with that option. The email address sends messages into lala land if you have an actual cell plan. This fixed my issue instantly.

Update: Might be a larger bug out there as this may not work it seems in most cases. I text from Verizon website to my wife and another on a 12 and messages would go one way but not returned. She was bummed for days. I did the trick above and two way communication came right back. Just a special use case possibly or maybe Verizon?

Glad it worked for you. Others have tried it and it didn't work for them - didn't work for me either. Keep and eye on it and see if it's a permanent fix. The fix that worked for you didn't work for me.

Many pages of posts on this issue, attempted fixes, some successful for a time but the problem seemed to resurface.

Apple has a software problem, and we're suffering the fallout.

After implementing every suggested fix there is, this morning I was missing some group messages again. This is a very frustrating bug. I hope that it gets fixed very soon.

I tried this method too and still didn't work. I still miss MMS here and there.

There's a more active discussion here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251976300?login=true&page=1

There is no known solution at this point. Apple isn't really owning up to the problem yet. Maybe all the new iPhone 12 Minis and Max's being delivered starting today will have problems too and Apple will get a new flood of complaints. Apple's postion currently appears to be "that's a carrier issue." The problem with that is that this is happening across multiple carriers, GSM and CDMA. Even if it's a carrier issue, Apple should be working with carriers to resolve the problem. And it's not just a iPhone 12 issue - I'm on iPhone 11 Pro and I can't send MMS.

Since getting the 12 Pro, I am missing a lot of group texts too -- on AT&T. Talked with Apple and after many conversations, they said since it is SMS group messaging with a mix of android and apple users, you need to contact your carrier. I have reached out to AT&T - who have been a complete mess and not helpful at all, only saying that it is an issue they know of. I was originally supposed to get an update by Monday of this past week and then by the 13th. Still no info from them. This is a big issue -- so many people missing texts....
