and the braves lost to the natinals of all teams. how pathetic.

The Dodgers are pwning the Mess right now 5-0 :D

Manny has 3 RBIs

Pelfrey's line 3+ innings, 5 runs - 4 earned, 8 hits, 3 walks, 4 SOs. 95 pitches - 53 for strikes.

Pedro to the Phillies? The team is going to watch Pedro work out today, they seem to be the front runners to sign him.

Holiday maybe on the market if the Jays can get the right offer. Would they even consider trading him to the AL east.

And then there is this:
Joel Hanrahan earned his first win of the year the easy way -- hanging out in his hotel room.

And it was a victory that defied geography.

The Pittsburgh Pirates reliever was enjoying a day off in Philadelphia on Thursday when his former Washington Nationals teammates were finishing off a suspended game in Houston by winning 11-10 in the 11th inning and he was the winning pitcher.

"It's pretty funny," Hanrahan told The Associated Press by phone from Philadelphia, where the Pirates face the Phillies on Friday. "It feels pretty good in the situation that we're in. Houston is a team in our division and we gained ground."

How did he learn he finally has a win this season?

"I got a bunch of text messages," he said.

On May 5 in Washington, Hanrahan pitched the top of the 11th and was on deck when the game was suspended with the score tied 10-all because of rain. In the interim, he was included in the June 30 deal with Pittsburgh for Nyjer Morgan, who scored the winning run Thursday.

LaTroy Hawkins was on the mound for Houston and Hanrahan was looking forward to facing his friend, but the game was called with Josh Willingham about to bat and a runner on first.

"We gave each other a hard time," Hanrahan said of Hawkins, who got the loss.

The completion of the game was moved to Houston because the teams were not scheduled to play again in Washington this year.

Hawkins took the mound Thursday, and after giving up a single had a chance to get out of the inning with a potential double-play grounder from Josh Bard -- who was pinch hitting for Hanrahan -- but Miguel Tejada threw the ball away for his second error of the game and the winning run scored.

As a matter of the pitcher's record, it's a bit confusing -- especially for fantasy baseball participants. Hanrahan, still 0-0 with Pittsburgh, improved to 1-3 this season. He would have been 1-1 on May 5 had the Nationals won then.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Jonathan Sanchez pitched a no-hitter and that was amazing enough.

If not for an eighth-inning bobble, he could've been perfect.

The San Francisco Giants left-hander threw the majors' first no-hitter of the season Friday night and came within a whisper of a perfect game. The only runner to reach against him in an 8-0 victory over the San Diego Padres came on an error by third baseman Juan Uribe with one out in the eighth.

Gold Glove center fielder Aaron Rowand saved the gem with a leaping catch at the center-field fence to rob pinch-hitter Edgar Gonzalez for the second out of the ninth inning.
ESPN

that's awesome. i listened to the 9th inning on mlb at bat, it was pretty cool.

frenchy's gone!!!

on friday night, we finally traded team black hole jeff francoeur to our not so bright arch rivals, the mets for ryan church. for those that don't know, he swings at everything, never walks and is a spoiled brat that has a grudge against the braves organization and wasn't going to work here anymore. we'll see how long frenchy lasts in new york. either he restarts his career or he fades into oblivion. si cover curse at work?

in other news, pedoria is skipping the asg, carlos pena gets in instead, and zobrist may start.

maddon is a tool. he picks carlos pena to replace pedroia? he's not even a 2nd baseman, he's batting .230. should have been kinsler.

agreed. even though i like pena, all he's really good for is the home run power. i think kisnler has more up on him, much better average, and he should be starting in the first place (sorry red sox nation). i think maddon (who i like) is being biased here for his guys. based on this decision, expect ben zobrist to start at second.

scratch that, aaron hill will start at second. at least maddon isn't super biased.

Who invited Inge?

don't know. don't invite him again.

Felt like a boring derby this year.

same here. not alot of home runs. i thought this was a hitters park...guess not. especially after last year's derby. i want a skills competition added to the all star weekend.

poll time: mlb is the only one of the four major sports (sorry rest of the world) that has the players wear their regular team uniforms during the game, where the other three wear 'all star' unis during the game. what do you prefer the players to wear and why?

i say i like it the way it is, i tend to sometimes not catch other people right away if they are wearing something that is way different than what they usually see them as. for example, if i see hanley ramirez in a red uniform instead of the white and teal ones he usually wears, i may say 'who's that starting at short?', but with the marlin jersey, i can say 'it's hanley'.

you guys are just mad cuz your players didnt win. this was one of the BEST derbys EVA!!!!!!!

Nothing can live up to last years derby. This one was boring for the most part.

I don't know if Busch has ever really been considered a hitters park, I think it's pretty neutral. Besides, it seemed like either a hit ball was a home run, fouled way off to the sides or behind the plate, or in the outfield but nowhere close to the wall. There weren't many hits that weren't HRs that may have been HRs in different parks. And wind? Pfft....if St. Louis gets wind during the summer, it's accompanied by a severe thunderstorm. Wind doesn't play a huge factor at Busch in the middle of the season. I wish we got wind in July, it would make the summers suck less here.

I think the Mets should sign Nelly to a contract, he actually catches a ball in the outfield.
