kawakami kicked some butt and the braves cream dice-k (who was awful btw) for a 8-2 beatdown. that was fun.

I've never been a huge fan of dice k he always walks too many guys because he nibbles and can't throw strikes. Then he builds up his pitch count and is done after 5 innings. At his best, he wasn't giving up hits so the walks didn't really hurt him. He'd go 5-6 innings last year but he only gave up like 1-2 runs usually.
Now he is just getting hit really bad. Something is probably still wrong with his arm. His velocity is down, and he can't control any of his pitches.. not even his fastball.
They just announced they're skipping his next start (John Smoltz!) and he's going to have some MRIs and ****. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up going on the DL. That's what needs to happen.. because then he can go to the minors on rehab. His contract specifically says that he can't be optioned to the minors, so rehab is the only way.
I like Dice K, but he needs a break. Playing in the WBC was a big mistake for him. I think he needs a few weeks off, followed by a few minor league outings, and then we'll see where he's at. Its not like we don't have enough depth to replace him for a while.
Pretty good outing by Beckett tonight, nice to give the pen some time off.
in other news, johan santana lost again (only gave up 2 runs). i just love seeing the mets lose.
hopefully jj gets his act together and we can beat the knucklefield. last night was just getting owned by beckett (who's a great ace).

Meh. If the team and their fans didn't care enough to save it, then why should everyone else?
mets are a joke. i still wonder why people pick them to win anything after three straight years of choking.

it's always sad to see a piece of history go like this...sniff.
Since Yankee Stadium is city owned, I guess the fans can simply not vote for the people who didn't want to save the gate.
I don't know why they are refusing to keep the famous gate standing. It would be a good entrance to Heritage Park and still preserve something of history.
Just watching some Sportscenter highlights from today's games..Tim Linecum (pitcher, Giants) is ridiculous. He's just making hitters look plain stupid up there. That kid can throw!
