is all about the dodgers!!!!!!
and angels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now this is one step closer to a reality.

Angels get into ALCS. And Dodgers did it already for getting into the NLCS.

But still so much can happen and it's possible neither will go to the World Series. I am OK in betting for NYY to go all the way this year, so an LA-LA thing may not be in the cards, but an all LA thing would be incredible. Barring that, LAD vs. the Yanks would be fun for old times sake.

So they didn't play yesterday in Denver because they said it was too cold, so why play tonight rather than in the day?

Broncos/Pats was at 4:14pm EST aka 2:15pm MST.

There would've been an overlap with the Sox/Angles game.

And they didn't want to take on the NFL schedule. It's all about ratings, you should know that.

I don't want to hear Twins fans crying like a stuck pig anymore. I just saw the ump call a strike over the middle of the plate a ball and Pettite would have got out the innings with no runs.

That's like saying putting on a post season MLB game wouldn't do well because it shouldn't compete with college football.

The NFL is in its first quarter of a season, hardly any competition for the playoffs in baseball. Anyway, I would have just gone on with the game.

Every single year, tons of injuries paint the final crucial games in the NFL, so I see the earliest third, or in some cases even half of a season in football as a virtual pre-season. But for baseball, this is really crunch time. You can win 100+ games during the year, but then fall apart in the playoffs and it's over very quickly. This is what makes the baseball playoffs so interesting since there are so many die hards who watch their team, and others in most of their games in the huge regular season MLB schedule. We are talking about 200 or more games in front of a tv or computer.

This is the time of year that even non-baseball fans pick up an interest in the sport. No sport in the US has the stat queens of baseball. Who cares who was good in '55 in football or basketball. But in baseball, '55 will live on forever ad nauseum, as well as other years. Hey, there were some great performances by football players in the Super Bowl, or basketball players in the playoffs, but nothing that will live up Reggie Jackson and his mini streak of home runs in the World Series. That alone makes him Hall of Fame worthy.

For tv broadcasting, the Super Bowl, Olympics, extreme sports, UFC, WWE, and others may have good and bad showings. But baseball has such a built in crowd that this over 100 year old sport always has good years every year. If it's not the Yankees totally dominating a year, or even a decade, there is somebody unlikely like the Blue Jays, Marlins, Diamondbacks, or Angels to come in and win it all.

So I don't see any early season NFL game as an "interesting" thing that will compete with crunch time in baseball. Now if both sports were wrapping up their post seasons this month, then yes, there would be airtime competition.

Wow, the announcers actually said something decent, " Mayhay might as well be Mayday for the Twins right now".

IMHO

And I guess Gomez is off the hook from game 2..... ;) :p

Maybe the dome has one more game left in her! :D

...or maybe not?

It's top 9th right now and I initially thought the Twins would take this to a game 4 but it's looking bleak though they still have last licks. If they had no mistakes they could potentially be leading this series. No matter what the Twins had a really good year coming back against the Tigers. They have also put up a better fight than the Red Sox did against the Angels.

Just say it was a foul ball off the junk. :D

LOL, seeing him get hit like that and then getting a base hit might have been the play of the postseason so far.

Ya in football:p
Zing! :)

Punto. I hope the Twins work on their baserunning skills during the off season.

Kinda going to miss the dome, a lot of memories there. I was in grade school during the '87 and '91 seasons. Target Field is going to be nice though, the return of outdoor baseball to Minnesota. That should be interesting...;)

Congrats NY. :)

Goodnight dome.

So after the dude jumps the baggy where was he going to go, climb the seats?

The Angels have to get past the Yankees and they have their work cut out for them if the Yankees keep up their play.

On the other side, I would like to see the Dodgers go against the Philadelphia, but we will have to see. The unknown factor here is how the Rockies will hold up. I think they already have momentum on their side working in kind of a Cinderella story.

i have no doubts that if we see an angels vs yankees series, it will go all the way to the 7th game.

and i have a slight feeling too that the rockies will have a cinderella story...

we all remember they were a lucky team in 2007, going to the world series as wild cards...
