i have no doubts that if we see an angels vs yankees series, it will go all the way to the 7th game.

and i have a slight feeling too that the rockies will have a cinderella story...

we all remember they were a lucky team in 2007, going to the world series as wild cards...

I would like to act like a supremely confident Yankee fan but this is like playing the Red Sox. However many games it goes it will be a war. These are two teams who always play it close and both have great lineups.

As to the NL I just can't see the Rickies winning it. The Phils know how to play baseball. They won't lose two consecutive games to the Rockies. A LA/Philly LCS would be fantastic. The Phils are tough and they will give Dodger pitchers and Joe Torre fits.

If these four teams are in it, we're in for a great baseball from here on out. The only problem is that the TV announcers are lousy. If you can listen to Vin Scully and John Sterling to save your ears from bleeding. Watching the Yankees game last night I heard the announcer say that "the Yankees are starting to look towards the Angels". Keep in mind that it was 1 out in the top 9 with bases loaded and the score was still 2-1! LOL!

The Rockies are the remaining team without a World Series Championship ring, so a lot of people will be pulling for them the way the Angels captured a lot of people's imaginations when they won their first. It's always a great thing to see a team win its first series.

But it wouldn't be bad seeing the team Gene Autry started and incorporated 50 seasons ago win their second since their first series was a long time coming since Autry fought out some well known names to finally sign on the dotted line forming the Angels back in 1960. For decades after that, even with some great players, the Angels were the punch line for a joke. I think a first win for the Rockies would make people take them seriously coupled with their 2007 appearance. A second win for the Angels would stop all the chatter of their lone World Series title being a fluke.

When the final four are ready to go, the media is going to see this as the Yankees series to lose. Most of us don't need to see the Yankees put another ring on (26), as we all know they will always have the money and great trades and as a result more World Series.

The Phillies won last year for their second series in six tries and the Dodgers have all their six World Series rings under their belt. The Angels vs. the Rockies, probably the most unlikely outcome, would be a fun series which I think people would probably dub the underdog world series.

Angels vs Rockies may be a fun series but many won't watch it. I can tell you that the TV execs will be hoping for a Yankees/Dodgers World Series (both have the largest fan base) because it would be a ratings bonanza. There is also no shortage of a storyline with Torre facing his old team with some former Red Sox players. The Rockies still got their work cut out for them and ,while there may be people rooting for the underdogs, chances are they will not come into Philly and take a Game 5 but anything is possible.

I think the ratings, considering how many games there are in a season and post season, should be safe because unlike other sports, baseball is not a sport. It's a religion with sports heroes mentioned on the same level as a Johnny Appleseed or Daniel Boone. This type of made up mythology, whether deserved or not, follows baseball.

Yes, Yankees v. Dodgers would be great and instead of the legendary cross town New York thing that was made famous for all time, it's a good East Coast v. West Coast thing. Being a Giants fan, I am not a true blue Dodgers fan, but you better believe I will be rooting for the Dodgers to wipe out the Yankees. This could be New York coming into yet another dynasty so maybe nobody can stop them and they will go four for five like they did in '96-'00.

Looking back on NY's history shows that they almost feel entitled to not just a series win here and there, but in chunks. Smart money votes that they will have 30 rings before anybody even challenges 15 rings, or for most teams, just 5 or 10 rings.

First of all, Vin Scully is a BASEBALL GOD!!!!!!!! HE IS THE SOUND OF SUMMER!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D I would rather listen to him in the world series than Joe Buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case a Dodgers/Phillies NLCS scenario would occur, this is not going to be a repeat of 2008. The dodgers have a better line-up, that didn't change at all, but I know they have great pitchers compared to the Phillies.

I would really love to see a Yankees/Dodgers world series....i never seen this two teams go at it!

An Angels/Dodgers world series, would be a series in a making!!!!!, it's like the NY Giants face the NY Jets in the Super Bowl. (hahahaha hardly doubt it)

An Angels/Rockies, Yankees/Rockies, Phillies/Yankees, Angels/Philllies, world series won't be as hardly popular (my opinion).....

Compared to the Population of LA which is 3,800,000 + NYC population 8,500,000 to Colorado which is like 500,000 and Philly is 1,300,000 or so.... I think more people would love to see an LAD/LAA vs Yankees in terms of ratings and popularity.

Wrong comparison.

Islanders/Rangers, Yankees/Mets would fit the bill better. The hatred just isn't there between the Jets/Giants.

Well. i'm not from NYC.....;)

i'm from LA

for us is

kings/ducks Lakers/Clippers LA Galaxy/Chivas USA Dodgers/Angels

in other terms i would have probably put

an dodgers/angels world series would be like

"bret favre and the vikings destroying his old green bay packers"

hahaha:rolleyes:;):D

It could be fun to see some deep rivalry develop between the two teams.

In California baseball, within the NL it's true that the Giants have a great rivalry with the Dodgers. It's one of the great, longest lasting rivalries in sports.

But since the Earthquake series, there is some cross bay rivalry with the Oakland A's. But beating LAD is what the Giants have to do as a goal in many seasons past to get to the playoffs. Just placing above them and still not getting into the playoffs is a source of twisted pride. :)

This year the SF Giants just missed the playoffs and would have made it had it not been for LA according to some Dodgers-hating SF fans. When in SF and in doubt of why the season didn't go as planned, just blame the Dodgers. When a former LA Dodgers player or coach works well with the SF Giants, just "forget" that those high producers had anything to do with so-cal and you will be fine.

chip caray sucks, that's why i turned him off last night. he goes on and on and on without stopping and he's getting worse...i wish we still had skip caray.

Ahhhhh Evil Memories Are Awaking!!!!!

no!!!!!! must clog evil 2008 memories............

dodgers will be victorious!!!!

ahhahahahahahahahhaha the phils could barely get past colorado.... lolo, olololol easy sweep for la. la/ny ws

While I am hoping for a LA/NYY WS, I would rather have the Red Sox be in the ALCS then the Angels. At least the Yankees have an easier time beating them. The Yankees have a poor record against the Angels. Especially in the post season.

Don't forget we played the Angels in a best of 5, now it is best of 7 and it's a whole new game.

Looks like the Dodgers may actually win and clinch. Terrible way to go into the playoffs though.

The way the Dodgers ended the regular season I didn't think they had a chance against the Cardinals.

Look it up. Being hot at the end of September has no bearing on how far a playoff team goes into the postseason. It only seems like it because the exceptions (like the Rockies two years ago) are very memorable.

Ya what happened to the Cards.

They've played poorly for the last few weeks. And the Dodgers are a better team. Why ESPN's talking heads thought they would win easily is beyond me. Then again, almost all of them thought the Cubs would win the NLDS last year.

Being a Giants fan, I am not a true blue Dodgers fan, but you better believe I will be rooting for the Dodgers to wipe out the Yankees.

No offense, but you're not much of a Giants fan if you root for the Dodgers to win any posteason series.

Spoken like a San Francisco fan, where World Series championships don't happen.

I didn't know how much of a fan you are of team A was determined by how much of a fan you are of team B

I'm a die hard Cardinals fan and won't root for the Cubs in any regular season games, but if they're playing against the Wankees in the World Series, I'll be decked out in Cub blue.

A Yankee fan would NEVER wear anything related to the Red Sox ever. That is the difference. The only bigger rivals are Dodgers Giants. Those teams would never root for the other unless it was to help their own cause.

If one of those teams is team A's biggest rivals, then it should. It's one thing to be ambivalent, or to not be terribly upset if one team you dislike beats another you dislike even more. But to root for your team's biggest rival? No.

No. You root for the team against the team that eliminated your team.:D;)

Like any situation, it all depends. First, it's best for the Giants to go to the post season and that goes without saying.

I would find anybody hard pressed who is not a Yankees fan to root for them in post season. What, do you think they need more rings? Yes, I will root for the Giants, but if the series ends up being any west coast team against the formidable Yankees, I will go with that west coast team.

Outside of that, I don't care as much but I will still likely root against the Yankees. A way I would go with the Yankees is let's say it's 20 years from now and the Red Sox have taken 7 rings in that period and the Yankees have been a perennial last place team. It's the ALCS and both teams are there. Then I could see myself going with the Yankees to root for the underdog.

But this year, and this time in history, the Yankees have 26 rings and 4 out of five not too long ago ('96, '98, '99, and 2000 for Christ sake). And they didn't have a shabby regular season this year. :)

As a Giants fan since the early sixties, I would cheer on any team to beat the Yankees - other than the Dodgers. If it is a Yankees/Dodgers Series, my solution is to turn the TV off and try to pretend baseball ended after the the championship series. If forced to choose between the Yankees and the Dodgers and with a gun held to my head making me watch such a monstrosity forced upon the good people of the world, I'd have to go with the -- I can hardly force myself to say it -- the team from New York.

Go Phillies!!!

1962 still hurts, doesn't it?
