So in a surprise to no one Aaron judge will remain a yankee
Aaron Judge agrees to 9-year, $360M deal to stick with Yankees, per report

Actually a little surprised. Thought he might return home and become a Giant.
There were rumors that he was going to sign with the giants, but I think the Yankees knew in the end, he had to stay in NYC, no matter the cost.

Judge back to the Yankees is the right outcome for all involved, even the Giants. Much better for Zaidi to spread the money around on more players to fill more glaring holes in the roster.
Agreed. Farhan and crew have some shopping to do, and they can add some key pieces for that money.

Agreed.

I feel like signing Haniger was a harbinger that the Judge deal wasn't going to happen.

I'd like one more bat and an "A" level starting pitcher. But wouldn't everyone...

Yes, I see the ilitiration .... :p

I will watch the Texas Rangers every 5th game this baseball season.
maybe even live in Miami Or Tampa this baseball season!

Would've saved some dough if they signed Judge BEFORE he hit 62.
Yes
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Before the season they had a chance to wrap him up in contract, but low balled him, and he had a once in a lifetime season. It cost the yankees dearly, especially since SF was wanting him. Maybe they though there was no one else wanting to pay him the money and so they tried to short change him, but that gamble failed

They tried. But he wanted to test the market after the season. Turned out to be a pretty shrewd move by the big guy.

Or if the Yankees had offered him a true market contract before the season, they probably could have saved themselves 10's of millions of dollars. $213M over 7 was a joke for a player of his caliber.

Easy to draw a parallel with the Giants' signing of Barry Bonds. They reached the WS, but couldn't pull it off.

The success they did enjoy later rested on a foundation of drafts and good players developed in the farm system, complemented by a variety of outside signings playing specific roles.

They don't appear to be a team that is one player, even a big one like Judge, away from challenging for the WS, never mind a division with the loaded Dodgers and Padres.

Tending to your own garden is the best way to eat well. Cheaper, too.
