When I check my settings/messages, it shows nothing about changing the MMS options. I'm using a new 3G S by the way.

It also doesn't have the photo icon to the left of the text input in my message app. I'm in San Diego.

Here is the carrier settings file from my iTunes folder, I think this is just the default one.

I can say that I am seeing something similar to what the OP is saying. I'm in GA, on an iPhone 3GS, and when I received it Friday, the toggle in "Messages" was not there at all to enable/disable MMS. Now, after I saw the OP's original post, I checked again, and it's there! I set MMS to "ON", and the camera icon now appears in the SMS application. I tried sending a test pic to myself, but it does time out and give the red !. And I've done nothing to the phone nor downloaded any carrier files. It actually hasn't been connected to any computer since being activated Friday morning. So, it looks like AT&T CAN enable this from their end of things.

It probably fails because the MMS option fields aren't filled in. You need the whole

"wap.cingular
wap.cingulargprs.com
CINGULAR1
mmsc.cingular.com
66.209.11.32"

thing filled in in order to successfully send and receive MMS.

This is exciting. Hopefully this mean AT&T is working on trolling this out. I still don't have anything here in Southern Illinois, but I'll sure keep checking!

EDIT: Also, could we try and keep this thread along with the original topic? Its not for discussion the MMS hack, so take that elsewhere so we can see how this subject is really going.

I did nothing other than just check Settings>Messages and it was there. It's odd, because it's like its only "half" there. The MMS toggle is in the Messages settings, but the area to enter the MMS configuration(server, etc) is NOT there under Settings>General>Network. But I do now have the "Internet Tethering" ON/OFF toggle under Settings>General>Network! Was this always available on the 3GS, because I assumed when I received it Friday that it wasn't, so I never checked. I'm going to see if the Tethering is actually active in a moment, as soon as I get my MBP out of the car (I'm at work now). But, again, no, I haven't done anything to this 3GS to enable either of these two options.

where do you put this?

Would you be so kind as to upload it then? I've tried several already.

So you have all the options all functioning perfectly? When you have tethering on, all your cellular data settings are all correct?

Yea, here is a file Ben, from help.benM.at sent me to test out. I'm not sure if it was his file that fixed it, or me switching SIM cards and such. But it actually is possible to email yourself this file and install it from you're phone.

I also uploaded the ipcc file that I'm pretty sure is on my phone.

remember to remove the .zip from the files.

I just posted regarding this, so you didn't see it, but this is the part that's kind of screwy. The MMS toggle is in my Messages settings, but the area to enter the above posted info is NOT in my Settings>General>Network area. It's like my MMS is "half" turned on or something. But now "Internet Tethering" IS in this same section of the Network settings. I'm going to get my MBP to test if tethering is working now.

Im in Yonkers, NY right outside NYC and I am unable to send MMS either. I called ATT and the rep told me it wont be available until July. :(

I believe the number everyone is asking for is 1-800-331-0500. I just called it a moment ago and spoke to a nice guy who changed it to the normal MMS for me. (I actually had the normal MMS, but when I got my 3GS on Friday and chose to keep the new SIM card, he added the data and messaging to it but did the iPhone messaging instead of the normal). The nice guy on the phone was confused as to why I would want to do that, but I explained it and he just said he didn't think they were doing that yet, but it would make sense that they would roll it out to some markets before others, so he changed it without a problem.

Having said all of that, I just powered off my phone, let it sit for a few, then powered it back on (allowing it to catch any new OTA updates) and I still don't have the MMS options here in Charlotte.

No MMS options available to me yet in settings>messages. Sent email to xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net and also had my son send me an mms. Neither have been received nor returned. It's been about 20mins and nothing on either end.
