my 4 reliable apple insider sources all confirm that mobileme will be down until 8am EST tomorrow morning.. Today was basically just a test to make sure everything worked and it passed - only 10% of the servers went online today just to make sure everything was working properly which explains the slow service while us apple losers where all attacking it at once..

Thats a pretty cheap way to "test". Shutting down mac.com (webmail) is a major pain for me because I am on a Windows machine tonight..

So if you're not lying... and we know where liars go... then Apple basically intentionally shut down .Mac without a replacement for a day and a half. I'd probably be pissed about that, but I'm going to bed and not going to worry about it anymore.

I have to call BS on this one. If that was true Apple would have said the service would be offline until tomorrow, but they specifically put a time limit in the status message. Why would they mislead all of their customers?

Reading about those RIM outages brought up a thought. People criticized RIM during the outages because it took them 3 hours to acknowledge the outage. In the end of all this, AT&T offered prorated credit for business users if you called in and complained... The outage lasted 12 hours.

Even though RIM's outages affected a lot of business, which is much more severe than what we are dealing with, Mobile Me has been down for nearly twice that long, yet not even a word from Apple other than a red light in the status indicator.

the support page shows this, so they at least acknowledge its going longer than it was supposed too.

no, .mac is not shut down - just the web browser interface.

my sources are not high up and have been wrong in the past but it just makes sense.

My 4 reliable apple insider sources tell me you are full of it.

Push email has been working REALLY well for me all day via my updated iPhone. Incoming on Mail has been fine, but outgoing stalled for about 10 hrs on all messages. Updates are slow, no push on the Macbook AND, I made the mistake of logging out of .Mac in system preferences. I can't log back in now, even though my password is correct, and my other machines are still in successfully. Huh?

Push is not working on my iphone - are you sending to your @mac or @me address? I send stuff to my @me and it isn't pushing to my iphone, though it was earlier (like, 4 hours ago)

UPDATE! 2.0 WILL BE RELEASED AT THE EXACT TIME OF MOBILE ME!

What will I need for my iPhone or iPod touch to use MobileMe?
You will need to update to software version 2.0 or later to enable push mail, push contacts, push calendar, and push bookmarks. This software update will be available when MobileMe launches

I can't use my idisk or gallery. The whole ball of wax is down for me.

Same here. I guess I'll just go on Youtube and forget that I have important e-mail in the mailbox until tomorrow morning (hopefully it will be fixed).

I dont know if Mail.app works but since I am not at home tonight, away from my iMac and only have Windows machine here I guess I am out of luck.

The Gallery being offline is causing me major headaches; I have had to post a few picture sets as zipped files on my secondary webspace using Cyberduck, since all the .Mac features are going AWOL.

Please, Apple, please—get this transition over!

I think it's the weather - what else. When they were using .mac, it was based on a server on land. Now, they're using the cloud and they're having hurricane speed winds which they cannot control. When you start dealing with clouds, you never know what's going to happen.

Brilliant. LOL LOL LOL!!!:D:D:D

I might wait a bit to start a trial, at least until they get the kinks hammered out and get to the point they can handle the user load

thank you!

I call BS on this. Just look at when the guy joined. Spamming isn't appreciated!!

Don

how am i spamming? i am new to adding to the blogs but i've been a daily visitor to macrumors for over 3 years now and have been an apple lover back in the "classic" os days... Call BS if you wish, i don't care if you believe me or not. But do not question my apply loyalty but calling me a spammer!

Thanks!

i can't log in.

actually, i don't even get the opportunity. haven't been able to all day.

when i type either mobileme.com or me.com, i get redirected to apple.com/mobileme, the product page.

ugh! i'm a .mac subscriber and i'm excited to try this out. i realize, though, that with a global launch on something of this proportion, it may take awhile for the loads to be taken care of.

does anyone else still get the maintenance page when they head over to mac.com?

you can't expect to claim that information on an internet forum without very good proof or a really good track record of being right. thanks anyways

I understand that completely - just don't call me a spammer! Sorry for sharing the information that i've learned.. Just wanting to contribute for once!

Then prove that your sources are real. If you can't I say your spamming or even worse trying to get attention.
