Um, I have. And it didn't go this badly, ever. BUT **** happens. Apple ran into a snafu. -shrugs- It DOES happen, just not often.

Usually during a server migration there aren't several thousand users hitting refresh, hitting software update, downloading versions of the software found through creative web searches.

I moved a datacenter once, and was in the middle of running down the hallway with a cdrom-tower in my arms, and a user said WHAT HAPPENED TO (insert data disk name here)!!!.

Me: I said, did you read any of the last 30 emails explaining what the schedule is for servers going up and down?

Moron: I didn't have time, they said. So where's the damn data?

Me: Here. In my arms. On the way to the new data center. As it said in your email. The one that said it would be down for 5 minutes while the drives were moved.

Moron: So when's it going to be up?

And that's when I killed him, your honor.

Given that perfectly functioning final 2.0 software for the phone and touch are leaked, out there and working for many many people - the ONLY reason we're not seing them via normal updates via iTunes is this monumental immobile-me transfer fail.

The touch software hasn't been leaked.

I think the problem here is that it is MobileMe. Didn't they learn from Microsoft? ;)

Certainly up there with one of the biggest f*ck ups ever.:(

I woke up this morning (it's 8:15 AM here) and it worked, then stopped working about 5 minutes later. This is a joke, to be honest, an absolute joke. I'd love to know the reason for all this crap.

if you go to google news and type in mobileme launch, it shows articles about the delay. one of them tells about apple confessing!

A Word From An Apple Spokesman

“The MobileMe transition is under way but is taking longer than expected, the new Web applications are not yet online but the rest of the service is up and running.” - Bill Evans

There is your answer.
