I was on the fence about MobileMe prior to launch, thought I'd give it a shot with the 60 day trial... not looking good.

Has anyone else noticed that there doesn't appear to be any 'push' going on here. You can manually sync or wait for it to sync it and it will update across devices, but syncing is a whole lot different than push technology. My understanding is, if I update something on my calendar on my Mac it should almost instantly appear in the calendar on MobileMe and the other way around too, when I try this nothing ever happens unless I make it sync or wait until it runs a scheduled sync. There is no immediate 'push' between devices happening the way it was demoed at WWDC

I thought that too, but it appears "push" only goes between the phone and the servers. I looked at the dotmac in sys prefs and it still has sync based on time (once an hour, once a day, manual, etc).

So, syncing between computer and the MobileMe is old-fashioned sync; sycning between iPhone and MobileMe is near-instant push.

I had a real appointment to add to my calendar and I did it from the computer. I watched what happened when/where and found the above results.

adding: my speculation, but maybe the computer <--> server push is one of the things added to the dotmac item in system prefs. when it gets updated to "mobileme." I don't have the update, so...I'm throwing that out there as a possibility.

When Steve Jobs presented MobileMe at his keynote he showed off being able to mount your iDisk as a network drive on Windows PCs. It looks like that's a feature they omitted. Here's hoping that they put it back in.

There's also no option to sync with Outlook for Email in Windows either, I only see Calendar and Contacts available to sync

Mail Setup on PC

Does anyone know if there is a trick to the mail setup on your pc. I can view the emails, but any changes on the pc do not flow in either direction. Also how do I make it my primary inbox instead of a read only one at the bottom of outlook. Any help or a setup guide would be great.

!

People that can't get in via the web. I just had a support chat, and the lady changed my password, and now I am in. Try changing your password first, and then if that doesn't work, get them to change it for you

Nope I have the update installed - you have to select "automatically" from the pull down list (that option was there before the update also).

My guess is the push part from the MM cloud to your computer is not finished being set up yet but the mobile version is up and running.

I already have the MobileMe preferences on my Mac and on my PC at work and both have 'syncing' preferences but nothing about push and there is definitely no 'live push' happening, and I am pretty sure when they showed this at WWDC the push worked across all devices, not just iPhones

me.com blocked at work

So now that MobileMe appears to up and (slowly) running, I've hit another problem. My work has the url me.com blocked from access. :( I used to me able to access .mac (mac.com) from work to check my email but with the url change looks like no MobileMe for me when I most need it.

me.com use to be a social networking site so thats probably why it was blocked. Ask your IT person(s) to un-block it :)

I just ran the Software Update and I didn't have the MobileMe 1.1 update :(

I did just signup for a Free Trial though about 30 minutes ago, sent an email from my Macbook and it showed up right away on my iPhone. However, when i deleted it off my iPhone it showed up again a few minutes later.

So I'm not the only one push isn't working for?

I'm also getting an error message with Back to My Mac that says "Back to My Mac isn't working properly because there's a problem with your connection to MobileMe." Is anyone else getting that message? It's under System Preferences>>MobileMe>>Back to My Mac. Thanks!

Strange message

Is anyone else getting this message on occasion when trying to sign in, even though you already have an account and are just trying to log in?

Yeah it seems to be very... temperamental. If your using safari, empty your cache and try again, worked for me.

Ummmm that would be because its IMAP mail. IMAP by its very nature is synced email, no matter which vendor provides it....GMAIL etc.
