my guesses:

$1099, $1299, $1599, $1899 (macbook: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)
$1799, $2099, $2299, $2599 (air: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)
$2099, $2399, $2699, $3099 (Pro: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)

i don't see this happeing because 1. there is a lot of talk of them lowering prices on all the models, and 2, why would they have 4 different models? i think three is more than enough

So I had my girlfriend check it out since she is chinese. She says it doesn't really give much information. It pretty much says:

Subject: The next new macbook

then it goes on to say everyone take a look here and then it pretty much just says the next new macbook again.

Not much information really to gain from the words...

Ultimately, I think you're right.

That said, someone else mentioned them factoring in SSD as a preconfigured model, so that might be a more plausible explanation.

Am I the only one hoping the new macbook isn't the awful boring silver aluminum color? That color is so stale, it would be awesome if the aluminum was painted black or something, but silver??

I agree, black aluminum would looks fantastic. or like a black chrome...the only problem with that, fingerprints, and lots of them.:apple::apple::apple:

First, we still can't tell what all the ports are, but they better not get rid of firewire or I don't think I could buy one of the new MB/MBPs. A lot of camcorders connect via firewire, like mine, so it would become useless.

Second, I don't see how the touchpad is bigger. Look at the touchpad on the current MB. http://www.apple.com/macbook/design.html

Line up the buttons. Everything looks to be in about the same place. I would like to think it's bigger, but it just doesn't look like it in comparison.

no one's said anything about multi-touch... does anyone here think that that could be a possibility? i don't see why not...

Check out the Hinge

The cut out for the hinge is significantly wider than for the current iteration of Macbook.

In the current version, the hinge leave two F-key buttons on the top on each side, this photo of the alleged new macbook shows it extends wider, to about one key each side.

significance anyone??

no HDMI yet....damn

You realize that HDMI is just a subset of DVI (plus audio signals), don't you? It just needs a DVI->HDMI cable to connect to a HDMI display. Apple could even add the HDMI audio signals in a macro-DVI port to allow sound over HDMI.

So even if you never see a standard HDMI port on a Apple product, it doesn't mean you can't use a HDMI display.

stop toying with me and release it soon so that after the yellow tint horrors etc by the holidays everything will be a-ok and i can have an awesome new lappy

OK, here's one for you...

Supposedly, the new "Brick" manufacturing process is in the US. (Anybody know where?)

But these new photos are coming out of Asia.

So, where are these laptops going to be made? Is there a "Brick" process in China also? Or will the MacBooks be made in China with a more traditional manufacturing line, and the MBP use the new "Brick" process in the US?

I think this could give us a clue as to what will be upgraded and when.

I'm guessing that the process was designed in the US and implemented by Apple's suppliers in China...?

It seems silly to manufacture some of the parts here, send them to China for electronics assembly and packaging then paying to ship them BACK to the US.

lol OR it might work out like our "domestic" cars. Designed in the US -> plans sent to asia to be produced -> parts sent back to the US and final assembly takes place here. that way they can say it was "made in the usa" when in fact it was MADE in asia but ASSEMBLED here.

Ok..lets start guessing prices!

12 price points for two products...6 price points each? That seems like a lot. Will we see 15 inch Macbooks? If this is true doesn't look like the MBP will drop much...I wonder if a Blueray drive will the factor in bumping the price up.

I wonder, though... if there are six price points for regular price, and maybe six for the student discount versions of the original prices? Not sure how the system works, but that would mean that there are two products, with three different options, much like now. I feel like you're right, though, 12 price points? Does seem like a lot.
