my guesses:

$1099, $1299, $1599, $1899 (macbook: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)
$1799, $2099, $2299, $2599 (air: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)
$2099, $2399, $2699, $3099 (Pro: base, mid, high, high fully-loaded)

They are rumored to start a bit lower than $1099, which will be nice and make them much more competitive with HP and Dell. I dont know how reliable this website is, so take it as you want.

Some Apple retailers in the United States have been given price lists for a new Apple laptop line, and there’s a big surprise: an $800 laptop. The information comes from a source we would categorize as reliable, would have access to such information, and who has been accurate in the past.

it is actually cheaper

I'm guessing that the process was designed in the US and implemented by Apple's suppliers in China...?

It seems silly to manufacture some of the parts here, send them to China for electronics assembly and packaging then paying to ship them BACK to the US.

lol OR it might work out like our "domestic" cars. Designed in the US -> plans sent to asia to be produced -> parts sent back to the US and final assembly takes place here. that way they can say it was "made in the usa" when in fact it was MADE in asia but ASSEMBLED here.

how about rice grown here, shiped to asia; and processed then shiped back here.

hmm...just opened Mail....

Man, if after all this waiting, I have to buy an old MB/MBP or a PC just to connect my camcorder, it would be pathetic. Apple CANNOT get rid of firewire completely. Almost all camcorders connect via firewire for movie transfer. I'm just praying one of the connectors is cut off on the left side, otherwise, it looks like firewire is out, and apple is out my money. It just doesn't make sense for them to do this...

Macbooks - "From Angarsk-Daqing three mysterious pictures....."

Google Search - "RUSSIA COMPROMISES TO BUILD ANGARSK-DAQING OIL PIPELINE FIRST ..."

Can anyone see a link? Angarsk is in Russia, and Daqing is is China, from what i can see...im confused.

"From an oil pipeline come three pictures..."

maybe the MBP's will have firewire, and not the MB's. it would kinda make sense since MBP's are geared more toward editing pros.?

The cut out for the hinge is significantly wider than for the current iteration of Macbook.

In the current version, the hinge leave two F-key buttons on the top on each side, this photo of the alleged new macbook shows it extends wider, to about one key each side.

significance anyone??

This is how the MBA looks. The only difference (from the top view) between it and the MacBook Air is the power button is slightly higher on the image on Apple.Pro

firewire

maybe they will make firewire a pro feature and make you pay more if you want it. I have had firewire since 2003 and have never used it. but i do not do anything with video.

exactly, the only firewire thing i use is my iPod wall charger from my first iPod:apple::apple::apple:

It could also be how they are lowering the entry level cost of the Macbooks. To get sub-$1000, they would likely have to cut out features. It would force people who wanted the extra features, like firewire, to upgrade to the Pro line.

precisely!

I agree, black aluminum would looks fantastic. or like a black chrome...the only problem with that, fingerprints, and lots of them.:apple::apple::apple:

I would surely give up having some fingerprints on a nice sexy black aluminum case, than a ugly silver case without fingerprints.

Expectations

While I hope the announcement is soon and the products revolutionary, Apple's last few products have failed to excite - they are erring on the cautious side with a more emphasis on price than value.

While I hope I am wrong, I don't think we'll see HDMI ports, definitely no super glass multitouch pads with screens beneath them and sure as hell no Blu-Ray. Further, any updates are unlikely to include next-gen processors or state of the art GPUs. They just aren't doing that sort of stuff anymore.

Case redesign and that's about it.

I hope so, although I was looking forward to a 13" notebook for portability (and price). I have an external 22" display if I wanted to do some editing, so with a slightly upgraded graphics card, a MB would be plenty for my minimal video editing. I am certainly not a "pro" in that category. But, if some of these rumors are true, there will be more options, so maybe a 13" MBP? Seems like a lot of money just to get a firewire connection.

According to the source, Apple retail stores have been given price sheets that list 12 price points for the new range, with prices between $800-$3100. Current lines only have 8 price points, 3 Macbooks starting at $1099, 3 Macbook Pros and 2 Macbook Airs.

Obviously, the MacBook line will now come in 8 colors. ;)

it'll be like having a 12" powerbook again, when firewire 800 was only available for bigger laptops. the only difference now is that we won't have firewire at all.

Zomg, surely with 12 price points they've got room to squeeze in a 13" MBP!
