What if this case is NOT for the revised macbook, but the macbook air? The top case is nearly identical, but side ports have been added, sans firewire (god I read too much engadget).

Maybe it's not even an Apple!! What if it's a Dell?!?!

So I realize that the picture (Macbook one, not MBP) is very low resolution, but if you look closely, it appears there might be a different logo next to the two tentative USB ports. And seeing how big the openings are, maybe one is a stacked double USB port set like on Dell's, and the other is a FW opening?

On 2nd thought, maybe not...they're not large enough compared to the Magsafe connector. They do look mighty large though..hmm

it looks like mini dvi but it's in a bad spot to me. When you're plugged in to a monitor you want that mini dvi > dvi dongle + dvi cable way in the back out of the way. Just like all the current cases.

FW 800 maybe... and maybe they've moved the video port to the power adapter 'brick' ;) That'd put it way out the back pretty nicely ;)

what would happen to the world if these were fake and there is no event

surely a one day warning is enough for an event. :D

anyone for a new iMac? i like the look of this (a mock-up from gizmodo a while ago if you havent seen it)
That's just a stretched out iPhone with the Apple log covering the home button. I think that was a Mockup from back before the Alum iMacs came out, too. We're not gonna see an iMac redesign for a long while.

Anyone else notice that the hand in the photo of the top of the case appears to be over top of something, as if to hide it or something? Looks like there is something under the hand. I'm pretty sure that they could have taken a picture of it without holding it like that. A measurement help, perhaps? I guess it's bugging me, why is that hand there?

It does look like there's something under his hand, you can see it between the fingers. Maybe its an identifying mark/sticker from manufacturing, like a barcode or something.

Firewire PLEASE, i have 3ipods of the 1st and second gen, i need its, i wants it, i must have its:p

PS, MacBook-chromatic

MacBook chromatic would really surprise me...maybe it will be called the "chromatobook pro" lol.

Like most I am salivating over this. I would miss firewire, but I can certainly see using it as a Pro division point, particularly if the video capabilities of the non-pro models are improved. I've been hoping for an esata connection on future MBPs, but I don't see any suggestion of that here.

I think firewire is gone. No need for them anymore.

You say that as if you think USB is good enough. Firewire is way better than USB at high-capacity file transfers. What's ruining Firewire is the different connector styles / pin-outs, rather than USB's adoption of a standard connector.

I don't know if I'm sold on that translation yet. There could be another port to the left, outside of the photo. I would say what you labeled as mini-DVI is too small to be a mini-DVI. Look at the current MB. the mini-DVI is much taller than the USB slots, whereas in this new photo what you label as mini-DVI is actually shorter than the USB connections. Size-wise it would make more sense for that to be some kind of firewire connection (obviously not 400). What you have labeled as the power port could be a mini-DVI and then the magsafe port is off the photo to the left. There's still more to that we can't see.

I think your right. That makes more sense. I guess all the ports are there. :D
But those usb ports are huge.....

eSATA would be awesome! Small connector, fast transfers!

i think apple is more likely to do away with ethernet than firewire...

I'd rather have that. At least you could get a cheap usb/ethernet dongle. There's no way to replace firewire, unless you have an express card slot.
