It would be funny if this was due to misinformation on Apple's part to prevent sales from falling over expectation of an imminent refresh.

Probably not though

The point of the color LED is so that I can set colors to specific apps/contacts/etc. That way I at least have an idea what information is waiting for me. I like that personally.

It's good, I'm not arguing that, but at the expense of waking the screen. Personally I would have expected Android to allow the screen to wake, whether it be a system setting or what. But it's default applications don't allow that. My point is that neither implementation is perfect. I myself wouldn't necessarily accept a notification LED to replace waking the screen.

Lots of conflicting information

I don't believe ANY of these stories, frankly. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but (you knew there was a but coming...) I find it hard to believe that Apple continues to post record profits, and their profit margin, while tightening a bit is still by far the biggest in the industry. The numbers that Apple delivers during their quarterly reports do not match any of these rumors of declining demand, nor do recent reports from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile (granted, US only). I do not think that Apple is lying on their 10Q.

I can't help but think there is a concerted effort underway by the Chinese to de-value Apple, which is being aided by the big brokerage firms (not necessarily coordinated). Remember all the bad (false) press from Chinese state media?

Something just doesn't add up here.

I'm not worried. Apple is still making billions and billions and billions of dollars in profit, and that is all that matters to a true fan. That is the reason why we all fell madly in love with Apple in the first place.

This is so not the main thing to be happy about as an Apple fan. Putting out exciting new products should be what excites fans more.

This is what happens when you waste your time adding "revolutionary new features" that most people couldn't care less about.

you realize youre responding to a rumor, right?

Suppliers aren't told when production will start? Yeah, Foxconn just has thousands of workers sitting idle just in case Apple wants production to start...

foxconn is not a supplier. they assemble.

As usual, apple ***** footing around messing about with new technologies whilst their current line suffers!

huh? their current lines are the #1 selling products in their categories. and most profitable. and have the highest consumer feedback scores.

so...huh?

Why not have the iWatch act as a digital authorizer? It would probably cost less to implement on the smaller screen, could pair with the iDevice, and also get you to buy another device?

I love it when I keep a keyfob for my car, and it unlocks as I get near it. Same concept here.

I heard they were creating some new devices as well. Like a massive dock for multiple iDevices, called the iRaq. Then when teaming with Nike, they'll develop the iRan.

Joking.

If they are still experimenting with materials, doesn't that mean that full sclae production is still a long way away? The technology sounds cool (I want to see it used for multi-user account switching) but Apple absolutely cannot afford any sort of delay right now, they have been getting hammered over the last year partly because of all the production delays.

I don't mind waiting for as long as it takes to add a feature I'll never use.

Don't agree. What I like is seeing everywhere Android fanboys whining because iOS first Apps. This excites me lol

Working at a relating :apple: store.. I hear about issues with products all day long. These are not the people pasted on commercials or fan boys who love regardless. Hearing all the issues.. fixing them.. and still going out to buy an iPad and dealing with the same issues makes your rebuttal pointless. Apple products are great however they are not perfect.

Anything excites you then. It shouldn't be about whose best, but who likes what. IDC who you are or what brand you like. If it works for you it works for you. Use it. I love the iPhone look.. yet android freedom.. ergo I have an apple com. and an android cell phone. It doesn't matter.. get over yourself.

I enjoy Apple products. The ideas the features the cleanliness and uniqueness, but as of lately, I don't see much. The new 5S is supposed to have plenty of new features (which are full of rumors as well ^) but things most look forward too. I miss the old days where the regular mp3 players or the original iPod classic or the old mini-disc players were a huge hit. I had an mp3 player that had a blue backlight.. slid out like a slide phone and had an external speaker (the most amazing feature.. great for in class blaring lol). Those features compared to most mp3 players (no external speakers or a neat slide feature) made it an amazing (and missed) mp3 player. That is what I am hoping apple will go back to. They have the tech. so c'mon :).

I don't want my fingerprint out there in digital form. I will not use it EVER i dont want to pay for it either I am fine with just remembering a lock screen code. There is alreadyWAY TOO MUCH of my personal information out there in the public digital world.

I don't want any biometrics either - they freak me out. They give thieves incentives to cut off body parts. It's no joke.

Organ robbery already takes place all over the world. It's a real thing.

If they stick a gun to your head and demand a password you just give it to them.

I would think Apple drops the finger print tech rather than push back the June/July time frame.

I actually use the fingerprint sensor on my Toshiba Tecra laptop to login to the laptop and other websites. Found it to be a cool thing. But sometimes you wish you would rather type the password rather than slide the finger slowly through the sensor....

Can we disable it?? This is pretty stupid and I wouldnt trust it anyway, still would like a passcode lock.

Immensely disappointing... But they gotta keep up with the recent trend so it makes sense...

iPhone 5S -> Fingerprint reader
iPhone 6 -> Extra row of icons

Can't wait for the excitement

Whatever works. Iphone 5, 4S, 4 best selling phones in the world.... still. lol.

Yep, just like what happened to Samsung's Galaxy S4 right. Gotta avoid that. Waving to your phone, lmao.

who really buys a phone for a fingerprint sensor, people want BIGGER SCREENS! the 5 was a let down so will the 5s, when will Apple learn!! Samsung are talking a walk in the park , stealing their idea's now they will steal their market..well Apple are giving it away by not release a comparable phone.

Jeez Apple stop it with the minor upgrades, we don't care about thinner or fingerprints just a bigger goddam screen...

lol that was my first thought..I can imagine the number of returns now..it's just another gimmick..

I'm a long time Apple guy: iPhone 5, 2010 MBA, 27" iMac w Logic, iPad 3 and I love them.
However, it is really surprising to me that Apple cannot plan for smoother and efficient product updates. Why is their product development cycle so long and clumsy?
For the first time, I think Apple has stagnated. These small incremental changes are getting pretty underwhelming.
That said, their core line up is still solid. I certainly won't be jumping ship but the company seems pretty clumsy right now.

Im sorry but i dont care about a bigger screen.... its about the strength/depth of the functionality... im tired of phones with gargantuan size screens... i have an ipad... im good on screen size

having a fingerprint unlocking/driven functionality would be great... maybe even for quicker purchases.... .. activating NFC functionality using a fingerprint instead of typing in your password or itunes acct password..

someone also mentioned a guest account functionality if a different fingerprint is identified...
