There is no point. I Really don't think the screen is the device, but rather part of a larger device. Think of the current nano, minus the click wheel. now add that screen to the spot where the click wheel is. There you go.
Vitual clickwheel,
An iPod Touch with 3G will require a new battery to accommodate the power draw. It means the new Touch can be more expensive. The nano with smaller platform may eliminate the shuffle altogether.
There's already a 3G version of the 4th gen iPod Touch. It is called iPhone 4. A separate ipod touch with 3g will not happen, it could cannibalize a lot of their flagship product which is the iPhone

Because the touch can make phone calls right?![]()
there are people out there that wants a apple product whether it be iPod, iPhone or ipad. people who buy the ipod mostly cause they can't afford the iphone rate
so ipod will not cannibalize their product and apple knows it, otherwise they would stop making the ipod years ago.

The reason it doesn't cannibalize it is because it separates itself. As soon as you put a camera and 3G data on it, then there isn't much difference. To the average consumer they might even be confused by it and think it's a new iPhone.
Only if it looks exactly the same and has the same packaging etc. Most people are not stupid.

3G on an iPod will be horrible for business It works for an iPad because that won't really work as a phone substitute.
Yeah. Few have. My predictions are a digital only iLife 2011. Sell for $29. You must buy it online and then you will be given a link to the download site (or even download it though itunes) No CDs or DVDs given. Thus costing less to produce (no boxes, no discs, no shipping. All of this could brijng the price down to $29. )
Exactly. People are tending to forget the app store and those camera and 3G apps.
and I hope the 94 is not the year you were born in. Being 16 does not mean you know everything,
I don't think there's even going to be a new iPod Touch. Just the Nano/Shuffle thingie and some iTunes hype.
But I'll buy a Touch if it comes with a back facing camera.
Oh please, the DVD and box are a dime a dozen.
The reason they cost a lot is because it takes a lot of programming genius to put together these programs and they need to be paid for their works.
+ a little extra money in Apple to purchase some massive data centers and make an iTunes cloud never hurt anyone.
1) Apple makes most of their money off hardware sales, not Apps, Music, Games, Movies and eBooks.
Making a 3G iPod touch does not help hardware sales of the iPhone, and so it is a bad idea.
Yes, but remember they get like what? 70% of the revune. It all adds up.
So I guess they should stop making a touch then? People are being blinded by the light here. Since when can the touch make phone calls?
Why would you assume that the iPhone has a greater profit margin than the iPod touch? They don't make any money on the contract. That's AT&T. So if Apple puts out another 3G capable device, they sell more devices. I don't think they care which device you buy. And I wouldn't doubt it if they don't care what carrier you use. What if they came out with an iPod touch that could work with Verizon? Apple has an exclusive contract for the phone, but what about the iPod touch?
3G on an iPod will be horrible for business because then the iPhone will definatly see a lose in sales. I can go to the store and get a free phone with some minutes, and have my iPod touch with data so I would have all things on an iPhone without the iPhone. It works for an iPad because that won't really work as a phone substitute.
They do to make money off of the contract.
Theres bound to be an update. Not only have we had the same design for 3 years, but with the recent improvements, the hardware could reallly take avantage of the new iOs 4
and also keep in mind Apple has always updated the iPods one way or another. Apple will be committing suicide if they just do what you say.
