I find iDVD a useful app, even for pro use. If I make a short video in FC I use iDVD. It's simple and doesn't take much time. If they just combine it with iMovie then the way I do some things will be a pain. Not to mention I prefer the previous generation of iMovie. I really hope they don't get rid of iDVD unless they call iit something els, which I don't believe they will, I like new iLife updates but don't take away the apps just make them better...IMO.
Like everything if you don't like it don't use it, that simple. Again IMO.

I don't see how iMovie or iDVD are usable even on a consumer level. They're dumbed down for the lowest common denominator. Combining them would be ideal, but why not focus on giving iMovie/iDVD more features, specifically in the editing arena? I feel like I'm using the trial version of some imaginary official app.

Maybe it'll be a dual-screen Nano? With the tiny touchscreen replacing the clickwheel? They could create more functions for the 'touchwheel' that way.

Has anyone said anything bout iLife yet?

Yeah. Few have. My predictions are a digital only iLife 2011. Sell for $29. You must buy it online and then you will be given a link to the download site (or even download it though itunes) No CDs or DVDs given. Thus costing less to produce (no boxes, no discs, no shipping. All of this could brijng the price down to $29. )

mmmmmm ipod touch with 3g that does sound good.... they could put an $100 premium on that and people would by it... $350 to $400 no contract and just 3g data.... this would allow them to use all the other carriers too! if they keep costs down on it say $100 worth of components... I say $300 for a 3g would sell like crazy... that would be truly magical:D

I can't see downloading 3 or 4 gb with all of the audio samples that come with Garageband. I do like the idea though (and the price).

An ipod touch 3G would be a perfect device for my life style. :D

I simple cant afford an iphone. Im on a text plan only atm on my current mobile phone as i never need to call people, so an iphone would be a huge waste for me.

Love the ipad but is too big for what im looking for.

I keep in contact with 99% of my friends and family through instant messanger on skype and social network sites so a 3G plan is all i really need. An iphone without the phone part.

Not bothered about facetime but a HDD bigger than 32GB would be nice

Saying that, i dont see it happening cos of the effect i think it would have on iphone sales

Its a typo. 3D, not 3G.

a 3D ipod?

Well how big are the samples?

I also like to add on another prediction for iLife. Optional al la carte downloads. (if you just want iPhoto you can get it with out the other apps) Perhaps $9.95 or $12.99 for a single app)

I mean microsoft is doing this with office. Why not Apple? They claim to be "green".

I know that idea sounds far fetch but it could work.

Are you saying that or just going by what every other one is saying? Reason why I ask is since the iPod touch and the iPhone as of this moment are doing just fine. If they add 3G it wouldnt hurt too much as it will be a data only device, and not a phone. now if they copy the iphone in terms of features and design and just not include a phone part then I can see, but I could see a 3MP camera. Front only. No glass on back etc.

3G for Touch? Not necessary.

We are too connected anyways. No WiFi somewhere? Enjoy it....
The one thing that is starting to bother me a lot are people who insist on texting while 'walking'. Get out of the way people!

Tell me something. how can you enjoy a internet connected device if there is no wifi?

Yes we are too connected. Thats the way life is going towards. Better get used to it.

The last part I do agree on.your in line at the checkouts and they dont pay attention. Or kids texting while driving and end up causing a wreck and getting them selves killed all for what? their "BFFs dress is the same as the cheerleader's whos dating the steroid jock?"

Not too sure really. Im guessing if it's a carbon Copy of an iphone 4 without the phone aspect then it would seriously affect iphone sales but i guess if was basically the same as the ipad and offer a data plan then i'd like to think it's possible as thats all i want :D

What is the point of a clip on a touch screen?

You need to elevate it to look at what you are scrolling.

seriously i think its never going to happen and i cant believe this b*******
i mean a 3 g ipod? a tiny shuffle like ipod nano with no click weel and an even smaller display? then there is no chance of a camera at the back....

obviouly its going to be a new ipod shuffle due to the huge failure of the current one, just loose your headphones and its on :D

There is no point. I Really don't think the screen is the device, but rather part of a larger device. Think of the current nano, minus the click wheel. now add that screen to the spot where the click wheel is. There you go.

Vitual clickwheel,

I really like this concept for the iPod Nano, a design that many on these forums have been anticipating for several years.

What really intrigues me with looking at this today as opposed to a few years ago is the potential of having either RFID or WiFi built in to the device.

With RFID this form factor would make an interesting electronic wallet and credit card replacement with a lot of interesting potential.

And while I doubt you could surf the web on a screen so small, WiFi and a built in camera could be used with Facetime.

It will be interesting to see if this rumor is first accurate and if so how this product will develop.

The people who are saying something about a virtual click wheel sound exactly like the people who were describing the iPhone before it was announced.

I don't understand why Apple would use a separate display for a virtual click wheel. Having one super-wide display could be awesome.

3G iPod Touch

An iPod Touch with 3G will require a new battery to accommodate the power draw. It means the new Touch can be more expensive. The nano with smaller platform may eliminate the shuffle altogether.

Audio samples of GarageBand are downloadable from Apple today. GB just downloaded a 1.5 gig audio sample addon while I was messing around with it.
