If E = MC^2, Then i = Implant

September 8, 2012

CUPERTINO, CA -- Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) made an announcement at today's press conference that from this point forward the "i" in iPod will now refer to "implants."

Apple has licensed IBM's Verichip technology and will soon begin the process of implanting chips in users who visit any participating retail store. The Verichip is as small as a grain of rice and since its implanted, you will never loose it. Users will be able to access their music via WiFi and Bluetooth earbuds.

Not that I'm opposed to the idea, but adding 3G to any Ipod device would raise the price points. Not because it costs all that much more to cram it in the case , but because of the whole contract thing with the carrier.

Slowly but surely the Nano will be the same price as the touch. Why because people will be offered a new substantial function of the ipod line.

It can go either way.
These are just rumors anyhow, but create lots of speculation and some nice bright ideas/discussion....
well sometimes.

And silicon valley will now be called silicone valley.

Dear Steve

We want this:

Thanks

  1. I think that's pretty obvious. but we already explained the reasons. Go back and read them.
  2. Thats why Apple creates TOU for the app store. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but ifn't there another chip in the phone that a 3G data device wouldnt have? As for strain. Look at the iPad.

*sigh* If the iPod touch got 3g it would need to be as thick as the iPhone 4 in order to fit the 3g chip inside. The only difference would be the phone app. Why not discontinue the iPod touch? Answer: No, because not everyone wants to pay every month for 3g. Which brings us to the reason why apple introduced the iPod touch in the first place...

ummmmm who said anything about discontinuing the touch? if they add 3G then it will be just like the ipad. Seperate model, and pay as you go. (menaing you don't pay month to month)

and theres nothing wrong with making it a tad bit thicker.

I bet the smaller touch screens are gonna be used in a new iPod Shuffle ...

(Heres a mockup I made. Almost actual size... 3.5cm X 3.5cm)

I have not really kept up, but will Caprica have a second season?

This would be really impressive on an Idevice

Lets see who knows what it is :)

I know: psychic paper LOL

Caprica second season is coming in January I think. Maybe late fall. I think they pushed it back.

When the ipod touch reaches 128GB and reaches a generation where the 128GB can be sold for $250, would they still need a ipod classic?

Will they simply drop the ipod classic, and 'touch' from the ipod and simply call the touch, the ipod ?

After the apealing part and the market ipod classic is aiming for is the ones who has a large library of music to fill something that large. But ipod classic HD size has not grown since the touch was first introduce.

if 128GB touch comes out this year... net year should be the year ipod touch finally claims the undisputed ipod moniker. Classic could then be no more (assuming the 128GB ipod[touch] can be sold for $250).

i hope they didnt change the form factor of the nano. I really like the way it is now. Dont mind a bigger screeen tho. maybe touch screen, but i like it to keep the bar shape, rather than a square shape; easier to hold without my finger getting in the way.

its at 160GB. It went from 80GB/160GB to 120GB back to 160GB

I may look into this, I still feel there are more iPod devices in the wild than iPhone

According to Steve Jobs as of January 2010 there where 250 million iPods in the wild. Add to that the iPad, which is a related device sales of iPods from the January figure and you are looking at a number 300 million and above .:)

I don't know what to think of a 3G enabled Touch. But it would be nice to be able to listen to
streaming radio more so then I can with my Touch 2G presently. I have a hunch that we will not see a 3G touch this time around I think they are going to wait for a redesign of the iPhone 4G's antenna first.

But mainly I want a camera or two and a retinal display. We will know this next Wednesday.

By the way have any of you tried Google Talk yet. It's VoIP was rolled out a few days ago. It does not work on a Touch yet but I have been calling people on it using my PC and it works very well. I see an updated app out shortly to add this functionality to the Touch/iPad.

No one is talking about iLife 11? I could see getting rid of iDVD. Maybe include is as an optional download like they did with the old iMovie (no, there won't be a new iDVD, just the old one as an optional download).

I agree that iDVD could use some revamping but I'd hate to see it go.

Put a strap on it and it makes a fancy watch.

That is a cool idea.

I think if it is a nano the would want a camera on it, more likely it is a shuffle.

But a watch would be very nice idea. A ton of bans as accessories... natural progression for the technology.

So about iLife '11... I have a new iMac, had it less than a month. They gonna let me upgrade for free?
