Yes I do kid. What you need to understand is while yes, it will be the iphone with out the phone there will still be people who want a smaller data only device. While the ipad can do it, you can't place it in your pocket)

You may not have to worry about this since mommy and daddy provide you with your needs but with most cell phones, there is a contract. You are tied to that contract. If you chose to leave before its up you are face with a $250 or more fine. With the 3G, chances are apple will go the ipad route and provide cheep, pay as you go plans. Way cheeper then the iphone (as you have to pay for the voice (AKA minuntes) and you can cancel at anytime.

A) I am not a kid.
B) Mommy and Daddy do not provide me with my needs. I have a job, I work fulltime in the summer and everyday after school. I pay for all of my stuff (clothes, gadgets, cellphone, food, whatever I need/want). Rather, I'm the one that's paying them money. I doubt you did that 4 years ago.
C) I know what a contract is.

Well there you have it....the iphone........................................hello?......................iPod touch serves different purpose

Now. But what about come September? What about next year?

I don't want to come off as a jerk, but I don't think you get it.

If Apple release the iPod touch with 3G capabilities (Even without the phone app, because you could still make calls with the headphone Mic) it would conflict with FUTURE sells of the iPhone.

Not quite. Go back and read some of the posts. I'm tired of repeating my self

Future customers who is on the fence about getting the iPhone would have no need to, if the iPod Touch basically have the same specs. I said this before in another thread, What would be the selling point for a customer who was looking at the iPhone and Touch (BESIDES the "phone" aspect)?. . . I could see this happening. . .

Well the iPhone can make calls!
Okay, what else. . . . .
Oh the Retina Display
*Yawn* The Touch has that now
3G support?
Last week Steve made the Touch 3G Capable as well. . . anything else?

Simple. Data on the go.

If the iPod Touch had the SAME feature as the phone, everyone would just buy the Touch. (Which would conflict with Apple's money, so I don't see that happening, anytime soon.)

This is another reason why I believe this revision of the Touch won't be as big as everyone is hoping for.

Exactly. Apple would rather have you buy a iPhone.

+1 agree
Look at Metro PCS plans. A couple of my friends have it here in the area and have had no probs with it (not sure if its 3G tho). I know Metro PCS does not work everywhere, but the bottom line is that full wireless capability is destined to become cheaper without the strings attached

The difference is a a year and a half ago, before I got the iPhone, it wasn't financially viable for me - the best contract I can get where I live is at least $1400 over 2 years. That's quite a lot more than, say, $30 here and there if I ever needed to use data on a 3G-enabled iPod. It'll be the same thing for other people. Just because they can't afford one option doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to be offered others. If Apple wants to offer 3G in the iPod touch then let them, you do not have to buy it. But there will be a market for it anyway.

Who knows yet. Some rumors are unbelievable. Anyhow, the future...who knows it's Apple. They will definitely keep the iphone and touch separate and different.

that's why I chose Boost Mobile (a Sprint company) I would love an iPhone, but the contract is too much. Plus if I ever lost my job how am I to pay?

Well said.

You are starting to troll now. Why not just agree to disagree and wait until apple make the official announcement next week?

I really hope you don't/didn't study marketing in College. Your company would fail. Data on the go?

Exactly. Apple would rather have you buy a iPhone.

I agree. Although, I'm sure this iPod Touch next week will still be a solid upgrade.

I can't help but laugh at this rumor because, it would eventually discontinue the iPhone.

Do you know how many AT&T customers would leave (Pay $275 for the ETF) and go back to T-Mobile or Sprint and get the new iPod Touch 3G? C'mon it's common sense this is fake.

Well that market is going to be stupidity. Instead of the "expensive" iPhone, get a different phone with or that has 3g. Nothing i can do about fanboys though....

this already exists...

How many people in the street do you see with thier face burried in a handheld wireless divice?

I think we agree :)

Look at my signature I'm far from a troll, Learn the definition first. I'm just stating my opinion on this rumor & nothing more.

Why would they discontinue the iPhone if the touch wont have the phone part.

Kids these days

The comment you just made, made you a troll.

Ever since the iPad came out, things are getting out of hand for what should be in the next product of anything.
