Here are a couple more Wall Street Journal links pointing to a Verizon iPhone.

Wait, I just noticed these were from March 10 and October 9 last year. Since everyone says WSJ is spot on, does this mean we get the third generation of Verizon iPhones next week? I must have missed the first two releases last year. If WSJ keeps at it, they will be eventually right.

Also, surprised we aren't talking about the Verizon Wireless CEO making the comment at CTIA that it would be Apple who would make the eventual announcement. Not Steve Jobs style to announce something this big at someone else's event. He always gets the his own show and stage, then the vendor (i.e. Verizon, AT&T, etc) get to follow-up.

Did people even read those articles? You aren't the first person I've seen decrying the WSJ as unreliable because of their prediction for the iPhone on Verizon. Both those articles you linked said the iPhone was likely to be released early this year which is what is about to happen. The older article merely stated Apple was developing a CDMA iPhone that would probably go into production in September. The other specifically pointed to early 2011. Tell me where has WSJ been wrong? If the iPhone is announced for VZW on Tuesday then it sounds like WSJ has been pretty spot-on so far.

Is there going to be any way to follow this conference like there is some times with Macworld?

You read my mind. The WSJ has been consistent and correct all along. I don't know if these people own AT&T stock and want to convince themselves this isn't going to happen or what.

I love my Iphone but the drop calls in the last 3 1/2 years have taken their toll on me. I will pay the $300 to get out of my contract and trade it for Verizon service.

...and the human rights violations from Apple's manufacturing partners (employing children etc.) are ok?

..persepctive...

I hope you are consequent enough and don't buy any product produced in China or any other Country with conditions like this. Not sure if that leaves you with much to buy since 99% of the Products are at least partially made in China.

Yeah right. The "I have a friend at XYZ" comment again to give more weight to whatever fantasy is being posted .... right, very convincing.

I'm skeptical as well but I posted what I was told. It isn't fantasy what I was told but that doesn't mean he was right.

Exactly. People are so quick to shoot down these reports just because they have been taking place for so long. What they never see is that they have all been consistent with each other.

One disturbing thing I heard from a friend of a friend (he's an ATT engineer) is that ATT is planning on downgrading their 3G service to decrease costs when the Verizon iPhone comes out. Most likely it won't affect bigger cities but he said to expect to see more EDGE in more places.

no just no

I'll laugh if the Verizon iPhone is LTE compatible.. but I don't care.

My Palm Pre Plus runs fine on Verizon's 3G network, and I have no doubt the iPhone, in whatever incarnation Apple releases it in, will be just as capable.

I don't understand why everyone isn't excited for a Verizon iPhone. I bet the number of installed iPhones will double in the next year, meaning more app store customers, and even more development dollars spent on creating even better apps to meet demand.

Nothing but up side for all iPhone users.. regardless of network.

I don't expect many existing AT&T customers to flock to Verizon, but I do expect a record number of existing Verizon customers to switch from their current smartphone to iPhone within 6 months of it's release on the Verizon network.

I am so ****** bored of "Verizon iPhone" stories on this site every other week.

Please just release the thing.

You know that is a great question that I never thought of. You figure Apple and their employees have a company contract with one carrier or the other. I will tell you if they switched to Verizon, ATT would take a big publicity hit.

The only way Apple could pull that off is if they were paying for it. If they are forcing employees to use one carrier AND paying for it, there would have been lawsuits

On the other hand, it would not surprise me if this has been occurring for some time.

Where I am, 3G didn't used to exist. When it became available, I got 5 (five) bars. Some months back, my nice five bars of 3G dropped to 1+ bars, and it's been that way ever since.

Surveys have been done. Supposedly, somewhere around 25-30+% of AT&T's iPhone customers will want to switch. It's not a pretty sight. IIRC, the only thing "saving" AT&T is that the total number of iPhone customers is not a really significant portion of their total customer base.

This is not going to be Verizon iPhone announcement. It will be for motorola xoom. Mark my words.

My question: how much will I get dinged by AT&T when I cancel my family contract? I have an iPhone 4, but my wife just has a crappy free phone. Two lines. Is it $175 per line = $350? I'm seriously considering it. My iPhone doesn't even work in my house in a major urban area (Oakland), and it drops out all over the Bay Area.

No, the ETF for your iPhone 4 is $325. However, all ETFs are prorated so you need to determine the prorated amount - the number of months you've had the phone.
