So basically it will look like Ableton Live. Thats exactly how Ableton Live looks like -- flat with minimal colours.

WHAT is looking like Ableton Live?
I don't see any iOS 7 pictures in the article.
And I know a lot of black and white things that surely don't look like iOS 7 will.

Not sure if someone posted this, but if you follow the link in the story, there's a link to a video that gives a nice little overview of what they're trying to convey:

http://9to5mac.com/2013/05/10/new-ios-7-concepts-imagine-jony-ives-very-flat-ios-redesign-video/

If it's anything like what's in the video, I think it'll come out pretty nice... Just maybe keep the rounded edges of the app icons.

What do you think?

Not bad, but I did not see the black part of the black and white.

Looking forward to this. I barely ever use my iPhone or iPad because I like the look and feel of Mac OS X so much more. I liked the Classic Mac look even more than Aqua for that matter. The artificial bubbly look of everything is a visual distraction from the utility of the device. It's not a toy to be looked at, it's a tool to be used. I hope the new look-and-feel brings back some of the Power user aesthetics that made the Mac so great during its inception. The colorcandy icon circus is a visual distraction to a good computing device.

Who will win the battle of the up votes? :D

And the winner is neither. Why have 157 people voted up somebody who basically just posted a black and white picture of his home screen? It's not going to look like that and you know it. So many odd people on this forum lately.

I really liked the bubbly look, but that's a matter of taste/opinion. And, aesthetics aside, it offered some functionality that is sorely missed right now. For example scroll bars where easy to spot and actually useable, unlike what they are right now that have no arrows and are the size that would fit a phone not a full computer.

I smell troll, but I'll bite. My Macbook Pro doesn't kick off the fans even a little bit when I'm watching 1080p 40mbit uncompressed blu-ray quality media. The only time I hear the fans are when I'm doing rendering which uses all 8 threads.

You hope hes trolling, if hes serious.....

3% market share - Check.

Considering WP is the new kid on the block and already taken the third turf off Blackberry's hand, you could not underestimate this underdog.

Potentially it could be great. You never know ;)

If this comes to pass - thousands of no talent graphic designers will finally get their shot.

Flat icons and layouts can be banged out in MS paint in about a minute. It's lame and reeks of no creativity.

A great hardware designer does not equal a great graphics designer.

Sound like a union guy.

For those people who think that this is going to be a mistake, do you really think Apple would change the operating system for their most important product without going through a number of variations and tests first?

Yes, I'm not a fan of the black and white look on OSX.

If you give one person too much power then won't matter what everyone else thinks.

The rumors are always right!

This won't go over well.

Sounds like Apple is following in the footsteps of the Microsoft Office 2013 designers.

Panorama swiping home screen wallpapers?! OMG! Why don't we just call this the new MS-Droid phone. If this stuff is true, Apple is going to get soooo ripped to shreds for just copying the competition.

Why is this shocking to you? I'm not sure if you are aware of how APPLE "borrow" from others. Anyway, Jony didn't have much enough experience to design softwares...only hardwares...the light, smaller type....(as always).

I like the idea of black and white mixed with one colour for each app. Skeuomorphism has uses, but it was far too overdone, so there is a lot of potential for improvement. Potential being an important word in that sentence. I am looking to seeing iOS 7 as it is quite unknown how it will turn out.

Minimalism also helps in that the user interface will not gobble up system resources. Colors and fanciness are very taxing on processor power and RAM usage, keeping the interface and operating system small and light will increase battery life and create for a snappier experience.

It's true, the drop shadows and gradients on this website are slowing down my computer as we speak

Exactly - I can't imagine in a million years the home screens will be full of black and white icons. It'll far more likely be a case of losing things like the yellow paper in Notes, and losing the blue top and bottom bars on apps with the black style of the updated Podcast app, or the white of the Music app.

These have become a bit inconsistent across apps, so will likely be unified. Perhaps even be a setting to choose black or white depending on the colour of the phone.

From the 9to5Mac piece:

According to this person, Ive also shared that because iOS’s current applications have several differing designs, Apple’s users could become confused.

Sounds like we'll be getting some consistency across the OS.

You have no idea about graphic design or even creativity, have you?

I was not thrilled at the idea of "flat". After using Google's revamped apps like play, currents and google now though I have come to like them a lot. I'm interested to see what they do with ios now, if it's anything like google's I could like it a lot.
